We worked with James Walpole to sell our home in Victoria Park Village. We spoke with a lot of estate agents, but ended up going with James as he seemed the most knowledgeable, honest, and even-keeled (I hate overly sales-y people who rabbit on about nothing and throw numbers out there and hope they stick...). James provided great oversight to his valuation process and the steps that would be taken to sell our home. He also provided details around Sovereign House's contract which was very helpful when deciding what agency to go with. All of this set James and Sovereign House apart from other agencies. We were not disappointed after agreeing to sell our home with Sovereign House! James was incredibly adept throughout the entire process. He sold our home for above asking and was always very responsive and clear in his communication. James helped us navigate complex and time-sensitive situations with our buyer and handled everything with immense clarity, care, and knowledge. James was a steady, guiding hand during the whole process, and we are very happy we went with Sovereign House!

Our experience with Sovereign House was really frustrating from a few weeks after moving in right through to months after we left. Not long after moving in, we started finding mice droppings in the flat. When we reported it, we were told the landlord “couldn’t afford non-essential repairs.” It took a lot of chasing and the threat of raising it with the Council before someone came to (very poorly) cover a hole in a cupboard where the mice were getting in. Communication throughout our 15-month tenancy was poor. Our property manager Lisa 'didn’t have a direct phone number', so we had to call the agency’s landline. We called a dozen times throughout our tenancy and she was never available. Most communication was via email and replies were few and far between. When we moved out, the landlord tried to deduct £250 from our deposit for a professional clean, even though the flat clearly hadn’t been professionally cleaned when we moved in (we had photos of dust, mould and cigarette butts left on the balcony). They also tried to charge £100 for “broken” blinds, but we had a video from before checkout showing they were intact. We raised a dispute with the Tenancy Deposit Scheme and got to keep our money, The whole experience was stressful and unnecessarily difficult. I wouldn’t recommend renting through them.

Sovereign House have always managed my property since it was first let over ten years ago. Initially the management team did a good job but personnel started to roll, which is generally not a good sign. However, since then replacements have always communicated better taking the real hassle out of letting and it's been very stable. Jimmy has emerged as my main point of contact and works in tandem with Jude. Dealing with either has been easy as they both retain an equal working knowledge of my portfolio and any current ongoing issue. They have also recently been more than helpful handling tenants, certification and advising on new legislation requirements. Sovereign have built a tight team that has taken the strain out of letting with great communication giving personal customer service not generally available from the corporate structure of bigger agents.

Went with Sovereign House after a poor experience with a larger London wide agency. They were fantastic from start to finish with our whole sale from viewing to completion. Clear communication at every step. Viewings, especially, were booked with consideration (very much appreciated as we had a 6 month old baby at the time). James helped us sell our 3 bedroom home in Hackney in the tricky market climate of 2023 - in fact, after one week of viewings, we received three offers, and were able to accept one for full asking price. The sale has now completed with happy purchasers and sellers both. Before putting the house on the market in 2023, we rented the property with Sovereign house for two years. Again, when we began viewing, we quickly had four offers from potential renters, and were able to accept the full rental price from wonderful tenants, who rented with us for two years. Lisa and the Property Management team looked after tenant and landlord both well, and made what was a daunting undertaking manageable and successful. House buying and selling is so stressful, having James at your back was a relief. We felt our home was marketed and sold well, and we were communicated with well all the way. I had an excellent experience working with James at Sovereign. From our first conversation, he gave me honest advice, that the market wasn’t ideal for selling and suggested I continue renting instead. At the time, I assumed he wasn’t interested in handling the sale, so I went with another agent who told me the market was strong and I could easily get my asking price. After four months and only three viewings, I ended up renting the property out again. Some time later, I decided to contact James again, and I’m so glad I did. He sold the flat quickly and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. Looking back, his initial advice was absolutely right and showed he genuinely had my best interests at heart.
