Family Home of 80+ Years, SOLD by John D Wood & Co After more than 80 years in our family, selling our home was never going to be “just another transaction.” It mattered. A lot. Like many people, I had my misconceptions about estate agents. Those disappeared within minutes of meeting James at John D Wood & Co. Knowledgeable, sharp, professional, articulate, and refreshingly not pushy. I didn’t want to admit it at first, but after that initial visit, I already knew we’d found our agent. To be certain, I invited five other companies to value the property. I was determined to find the very best. The reality? We’d already found them. James made sure of that. From start to finish, the team, James, Ellie and Lilly, were outstanding. Communication was spot on: not overwhelming, not lacking. Every call and email was clear, concise and purposeful. No fluff. I went to the Docklands branch and spoke to Tushar about the sale of my property. A very constructive meeting - Tushar clearly has a lot of knowledge and experience, which really put me at ease, (thankfully, as I know from experience how stressful selling one’s home can be). Imagine being so unprofessional that you schedule a viewing, talk so highly about your agency and then be extremely lame enough to not show up for the viewing. I had the absolute displeasure to deal with James Setright who scheduled a viewing and then forgot to show up at 308, Garratt Lane address at the time of the viewing. My partner travelled an hour to reach the address and then viola, nobody shows up, I call up and James picks up and tells me that there’s nothing he could do and the best he could do is to schedule it for another day. Whilst being civil and acting like he cared, there was absolutely no other alternative offered. I just feel sorry for the seller here, since they should pick up someone more professional and reasonable to deal with. To anyone at John D Wood who’s the owner, it’s not only hard to schedule viewings and reach your staff but they are just incredibly bad to deal with and make basic errors that are just blasphemous for. The nature of the business.

Do not give these guys your email. They're utterly useless spammers. I told them 4+ times over the phone I was looking for a 4 bed, and for weeks received a barrage of emails every day trying to sell me everything but a 4 bed. Every time I tried to correct my details on their system and explained what was happening, nothing changed. The 'unsubcribe' button on their emails just sends them an email from you asking to be taken off their mailing list. But they ignore all these emails. Blocking them doesn't work either. Edit: they responded to this review asking to be contacted directly, so I emailed and explained. They ignored and I continued to receive their spam.

Our experience has been positive, particularly with Stewart Harrison, Head of Sales, who was extremely responsive, knowledgeable and on the ball. Just utterly abysmal. 9 years ago I wrote a review about how great the service was. The Wandsworth office managed a property for me for almost 10 years. I’ve dealt with many great people there over the years. The current setup is so unbelievably poor by comparison it’s hard to find the words. From the front office to the back it it’s a horrid mix of unprofessional, unresponsive, out of touch with the market and generally seemingly could not give a damn. It’s hard to understand how this has happened to such a previously strong franchise. The reality is there are much better agents out there. If I never have to deal with this office again it will be a day too soon. Save yourself the pain and go elsewhere
