GoogleAfter a couple of attempts to sell my property with other agents fell through, I turned to Bob, from C James & Co. I picked other agents for valuations prior only due to their widespread presence in my area (between Mitcham and Colliers Wood), however, ultimately efforts to sell my property were unsuccessful... Enter Bob!
From the start, Bob came across as very experienced, super chilled out, and gave me no corporate spial. We picked an asking price over the phone, I then handed over the keys in person and he sent someone over soon after to take photos, ready for marketing it. A few days later a photo went up in the branch window, a couple of adverts were posted online, and hey presto, after just over 2 weeks an acceptable offer came through from a genuine buyer. No taking people around to the property just for show (I.e. Because they want to boost viewings numbers, even if there is no chance of making a sale), no receiving of silly offers, which just makes you feel as though you've wasted your time, and no trying to 'sell' me an offer that wasn't good enough. The sale itself was a roller-coaster from start to finish, but Bob was super easy to work with the entire time, relaying openly and transparently what was going on. I never once felt as though I was being particularly 'managed' in any way.
If there's anything that I've learnt whilst buying and selling properties, dealing with an estate agent that is honest and pragmatic, but also easygoing, can save you hours and hours of chasing solicitors and worrying, which is worth its weight in gold. If you're looking for a super corporate agent that wears a suit 24/7 and speaks to you strictly in a customer/client manner, perhaps C James isn't for you, but if you want someone you can trust to be honest with you, do the right ring on your behalf, and to pragmatically look for solutions to problems that arise, they certainly are.

GoogleSHOCKING..... told me loads of lies to get me to rent my flat..... took ridiculous long to sort out repairs and were unbelievably rude on the phone. .. I would NOT recommend or use this company . . All they want it's your money. . No customer service AT ALL!!!
After reading the reply below I can only think they are talking about another person as I have NEVER in my life been described as rude and luckily I still have all my emails to prove this, I complained about how I was spoken to on the phone and stated that I only wanted to correspond via email because of this. . I also was only in my previous property for 4 years not 7.... so clearly they are not speaking about me and can't even get this information correct. .. the service I've come to expect for this company.
I have email evidence of how rude and unprofessional you have been towards me and have no desire to continue this 'back and forth' with you. .. you know full well what you did and how you behaved towards me. . Let's just be glad we no longer have to deal with each other.....
Your argument would be more valid if you didn't have all the other similar reviews.

Dear Ms Neil,
You rented a property from two of our landlords over a 9 year period. The first property you rented via C James you stayed in for 7 years and as this property was not managed by C James we were not responsible for its maintenance or upkeep. You will have liaised direct with the landlord.
The 2nd property you rented through us was a newly refurbished property which we did manage for the landlord. Having spoken to my colleagues we do not understand why you feel you were lied to in order to rent this property as you pushed us for a move in. There were some minor maintenance issues and because you insisted on being present whenever any maintenance was carried out (which is totally your prerogative and understandable), however from reading through the system notes you demanded out of hours which are harder to arrange. Unfortunately, relationships became strained between yourself and our contractors to the point many refused to deal with you as they found you rude. As you are aware, the larger maintenance jobs were carried out by the landlord, even though we were managing it for him. Therefore, we cannot be held responsible for any delays although the landlord did inform us of the difficulties he had gaining access.
We accept as a company having the largest database of managed properties within Colliers Wood, we are not going to be able to please all the tenants all the time. We have a dedicated maintenance department who do their best so we are prepared to accept criticism and credit where due, and your ill informed review has given us the opportunity to defend our name and allow other landlords and local agents to make informed decisions about any prospective tenant.
Occasionally we have to deal with difficult people who deliberately go out of their way to be problematic and rude to our staff and contractors. It’s part and parcel of the job, but fortunately people move on, as you have done.
We wish you well and hope you have taken on board some of the points we have raised.
To post our final response to her updated review - Ms Neil, your reply is as inaccurate as your first review and we clearly are speaking about the right person and that our facts are right, the first tenancy at the previous property was signed in March 2010 and vacated this property in Feb 2017, the second property and tenancy was signed in March 2017 and vacated this property at the end of January 2019, if our numbers are correct this would indeed add up to a total of nine years give or take a couple of months.
We wish you well and we are glad we have had an opportunity again to add the correct facts to a dramatized review.

GoogleThey are great until you rent flat and then is a problem with arranging anything, lie terribly like all the agents, they did nothing, blaming the owner of the apartment and the owner on them, in addition I had a problem with receiving a deposit, they tried to blame me for things the owner is responsible, after a heavy battle I received it back, but such things should not take place.

GoogleI've just completed a purchase using C James (I used them 10 years ago as a first time buyer and now back in the area used them again) and it was another great experience.
I had some difficulties with COVID during the purchase which caused a delay of several weeks on my side, but Bob at C James kept the seller onside when he could have easily (and understandably) walked away.
Really appreciate the work they put in to get the deal over the line, even taking on some of the expense caused by my delay.

First, we need to point out that you did not rent via Colliers Wood, but the Tooting office so you have both posted on the wrong page. Second, you both moved out in 2017, so you have certainly taken your time to leave your reviews. If you had written your reviews for the correct office you will see that we have many happy customers including tenants. We have not had any issues with tenants renting the same property from us. We are disappointed to read your comments, however, given you rented from us over 18 months ago we feel that too much time has passed to give your comments any further consideration. We are pleased to hear that you are enjoying renting and hope you continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
