We have had a great experience buying a property through Thomas Syms at Kay & Co throughout what turned into a particularly challenging transaction. The exchange process was far from straightforward but Thomas was great from beginning to end, taking it upon himself to coordinate the various parties, keep everyone informed and continually push things forward. Kay & Co, and in particular our agent Thomas Syms, gave us a genuinely exceptional experience and lots of memorable moments. We had been searching for our first home for a few years, viewed literally thousands of properties, and met hundreds of agents along the way - so we have a real basis for comparison, and Thomas stood out as probably the most professional and exceptional of all of them. In fact, after our very first viewing with him, my partner turned to me and said she had a feeling this was the agent who would help us find our first home. She was right - though, fittingly, it wasn't even the property we first viewed with him that we ended up buying. When we made an offer Thomas negotiated fiercely on our behalf and secured us the exact conditions and timing window we were hoping for. What set him apart, though, was how he did it: he operated in full transparency throughout, and never once tried to pitch or oversell any particular trait of a property just to move a deal along. We always trusted that what he told us was simply the truth. Beyond his professionalism - and his fantastically flamboyant socks - Thomas brought something even more valuable to the process: genuine human qualities. He was empathetic, compassionate, and truly invested in getting the best outcome for us, while always respecting both professional and personal boundaries every step of the way, and never letting anything slip or be delayed. The whole experience felt less like a transaction and more like a celebration. Our only regret, honestly, is that closing the deal meant this journey of working with him was coming to an end. We had a fantastic relationship with them as our letting agents, particularly Sarah! She’s fantastic, and Molly is no slouch either! We made appointments to find a place over the May bank holiday in 2021 (or at least we hoped we’d find a place), and one of the properties was Sarah’s… to our great luck. She was very responsive and attentive and showed us a couple other properties following our initial appointment, but the first she showed us was absolutely the one! We had regular contact with her during the application and contracting process, and knew we could always come to her with questions throughout our tenancy. We had the best experience with both the company and with Sarah, and as everybody knows - that’s not close to a guarantee with many agents. She’s a lovely person, dedicated and great at what she does, and we’d highly recommend asking for her when you go into the office or request a viewing online!
