GoogleI was assisted by Thomas Mason with the recent auction sale of a property. It was my first experience of disposing a property in this fashion.
I found Tom and his colleagues, to be professional, competent, energetic and completely approachable throughout.
For most people, who very rarely engage in selling by auction, it can be a daunting prospect; from the outset I was put at ease by Tom who took the time (don't underestimate this) to explain the process and ensure that I fully understood what was involved and most importantly what was required of me to make it happen and meet the deadlines etc.
The help with selecting a competent / experienced solicitor was hugely helpful and facilitated execution of the process in an efficient and cost effective manner
Happy to say there was no nasties / surprises and everything proceeded to a successful conclusion.
A big thanks to Tom and the team

GoogleHonestly really disappointed with the level of service from the auction house. Only care about getting the sale and wouldn’t be surprised if they or with the aid of sellers put in bids to drive up the auction price. Bought a property in December and was initially lied to by Callum, we were discussing a pre auction offer and we discussed a property 2 doors down that I was originally interested in but it sold before hand. He stated it sold for an amount higher than it actually did. Then when completion day arrived I found out my keys were given to someone else but Graziella tried to lie about this. First she said the keys went to someone else, and when I complained she agreed to send out a locksmith to change the locks but then she called and said no, the keys were in the estate agents the whole time, it was just a mistake but this was a lie. The estate agent confirmed they gave the keys to someone else because they were not told the keys were for my property. Just really dishonest agency.

GoogleI would highly recommend BM if you are thinking of placing a property into auction.
James Paterson was extremely helpful. He explained the process and at all stages kept me informed. And most importantly my property sold. Thank you James.

GoogleBeing the first time at selling at auction i did not know quite to expect . i could not have been in better expert hands than in James Paterson's at Barnard Marcus. It was a hassle-free, totally professional and friendly affair. James advised and guided, keeping in regular touch throughout to a more than satisfactory outcome. So pleased was I with it all that i went back to Barnard Marcus for auction of another property. What also stand them out is the fact that they produce a sales brochure to the highest standards and that they uniquely hold real sales in a real venue. An Auction House par excellence. I would thoroughly recommend .

GoogleWe are very pleased to say that the service that James Patterson gave us throughout the auction process was excellent. We were provided with a unstintingly professional and responsive experience right from the very start; from the signing up stage, to chasing up paperwork from the solicitors for us, right through to the auction day sale and after. We would highly recommend using Barnard Marcus and cannot thank James enough for his wonderfully warm and personable approach and for his clear and straightforward advice and communcations with us. He made what we thought was going to be a somewhat involved and complicated process into a stress free one. Thank you James.

GoogleI used Barnard Marcus Auction House in Hammersmith to sell my garage that I'd owned for a long time but didn't need anymore due to my leaving the area. James Paterson dealt with the sale and it all went incredibly smoothly. I was very impressed with his service and attention to detail and I received pretty well the price he expected me to get. Overall I was very impressed and happy with the experience and would recommend James Paterson and Barnard Marcus to anyone looking to auction their property.

GoogleBM have been fantastic from day one. Very surprise by some of the less favourable reviews here. Mr. Paterson in particular was incredibly helpful and supportive in selling my property.
Was impressed with the pragmatic execution of the auctioning on the day. My expectations on the result were managed well and they delivered everything I expected of them.
A very positive experience overall and I found no fault. I would happily deal with them again.

GoogleThey are auctioning off parcels of common land to buyers with the insinuation that it can be developed, despite it being very unlikely in the local context.
Effectively the cycle is roughly as follows: They sell the land. The buyer realizes shortly after that they can't develop it. They sell it on to another dupe to cover their loss minus legal fees, ad infinitum. The common factor is the auction house taking a cut each time.
Am certain the behavior is going to end up on a news expose at some point.

Thank you for the reply Chris, I refer you to the multiple plots of common land in Staines. For instance 1 adjacent Chestnut manor close, which has exchanged hands multiple times. Or the land adjacent compass point, which was sold with a visualization of a block of flats on it. I believe you have had exchanges with the local residents association on this matter.

Fergus. Your claim is unfounded in so far as you have not identified any parcel(s) of common land that we are marketing. I invite you to send to me direct the details of land that you are referring to so I can investigate this fully. All lots in the auction are described as they are and supported by a legal pack with all data for a diligent buyer to carry out their inquiries as to suitability of for intended purpose. We refute your claim that our marketing is " crooked" or that we pretend can be developed in the knowledge that it cannot. I look forward to hearing from you. Chris Glenn . GoogleThese auctions are a con. Small print in the terms and conditions will show that the SELLER's agent can bid against you up to a 'reserve price' - but the reserve price is not disclosed! This means that many times you are being 'run-up' by the auction company (sitting to one side on a computer) trying to make you compete against 'fake-online-bids' to come up to the price the seller wants.
If you must bid only put in the price you think the house is worth. If you're out-bid, and can't see who entered the bid, it does not mean the house is sold - although it maybe months before the house reappears. These auctions are all smoke and mirrors on the back of a lot of TV hype. There are no bargins, only wrecks of houses going for the market rate minus the cost of DIY repair (the cost being if you dont use contractors but do it all yourself)!

GooglePurchased a property through the auction with them. Very poor communication. They didnt have all the keys or information to the property. Internally they are exceptionally weak with department's not updating records or speaking to each other. They kept chasing our tenants for rental payments even though they were no longer managing the property and we still haven't been transferred the tenants deposits.

Donnie I am sorry to hear that your auction purchase didn't go as you had expected but it appears the issues are following completion and not directly associated with the auction sale itself. Additionally I have no record of these issues being raised directly with me or my team. Please email me with details of the property you purchased and exactly what issues you experienced and I will look into this immediately . Chris Glenn MD Sequence Auctions

GoogleDO NOT BUY LAND from BM , they are professional con men. Panorama pending.
Barney Estates & BM collect money for conmen based in Isle Of Man. BBC are investigating a number of lots that have gone “ under the hammer “ at Barnard Marcus Auctions.

I cannot identify you as a customer and your reference to Barney Estates is not relevant , they are a completely different and unconnected company to ourselves. Similarly I am not aware of any investigation by the BBC or any other media organisation which I am sure, if your assertion was correct , would have been in contact with me. If you would like to discuss a specific situation please contact me directly. Every lot we sell regardless of client is thoroughly checked through a rigorous procedure to ensure our client has ownership and or the right to sell before we commence any marketing. Your unfounded allegations that we "collect money for con men" is completely false and unsubstantiated. I invite you to email me directly to provide factual evidence to support your claim.
