TrustpilotShocking service from the Letting Team.
Shocking service from the Letting Team.
Unprofessional. The Manager Michael was the worst in terms of being inaccessible, ignoring emails, failing to return calls.
For phone calls to the branch - maybe 20% of calls just rang out with no response of any sort, 60% would prompt an automated response (with perhaps a 10% chance of a call back when I left a message), and 20% would get me through to somebody - who half the time was not the contact required.
It took over 4 months to get a definitive response from the manager in terms of monies owed. He was consistently "on leave", "working from home and we can't contact him" or "he is on the phone but he'll ring back".
To be fair - Isobella tried to act as a conduit, passing messages on (& promising calls back), understanding our growing frustration and irritation but had no authority to authorise anything,
DO NOT USE THEM AS A LETTING AGENCY.

TrustpilotIncompetent
It's a shame you have to give them a star at all. Very friendly at first took all our details and soon after that person left. None of pur details were passed over and after being with them for 3 months we practically had to start again. Ignored all our wants when sending over properties to view and just sent over any old property.
When trying to arrange a viewing, all enquires were ignored. On another viewing that was booked, they cancelled the day before and would only offer times unsuitable. Incompetent is the nicest word the perfectly describe them. I actively avoid properties they're involved in because there's simply no point.

TrustpilotJones & Chapman
Jones & Chapman, Allerton Branch, were a total nightmare. Unprofessional, abrupt, pushy. Being an elderly couple, we felt totally bullied by them with their constant calls for us to push our conveyancer. The irony was that the seller was dealing with probate so our hands were tied.
From the beginning we felt things were not what they seemed. We were told we were given the privilege of viewing before others and they had a group booking half an hour later. We put in a cash offer, but within an hour we were told someone had made a higher offer and we were put in a bidding war; it left us questioning whether there was a bidder.
Especially as I had heard someone say in their office “somebody is interested in your friends apartment.” I questioned this but it was denied.
What added to the unease was when we went higher, she said you need to go higher. This continued until she said that should be fine. So, what do you think.
If my mobility issues weren’t so bad (the place has a lift) we would have walked away.
Even the atmosphere in their office felt toxic.
With the exception of Anthoulla Kattou, who was always polite with a gentle manner, J&C are the worse estate agents I’ve ever dealt with in the 5 moves I’ve made over the years.
Save yourself grief and go somewhere else

Firstly i want to begin with how wonderful my experience with Jones and Chapman Allerton road was, from start to finish was excellent. The staff are fantastic, extremely helpful and always respond efficiently to my calls and emails. Massive thanks to Mike, Kai and Isabella all 3 of the staff members are a true credit to the team. Highly recommend this branch 100% five star service.

TrustpilotExcellent service from the Greasby office.
Shaun gave me a fair appraisal of my property, not a flattering one. He was spot on as to how to present the property because it required considerable updating. He knew the sort of purchaser that the property would attract. His pricing advice was excellent. Meanwhile Kristy chased up solicitors who had gone to sleep on the conveyancing.
I would definitely use them again if the need arose.

TrustpilotAgent lied to get commission
I started the process of buying a property and was using Jones and Chapman as a Mortgage Broker. They charge a lot more than other people (£600 +£99 admin fee) but felt it was worthwhile as they were knowledgeable and it was my first time buying.
The agent did liaise with the estate agent I was putting in an offer for but didn't really negotiate on my behalf, just went in with the asking price - which I certainly could have done myself and probably cost me more money.
It came to locking in the mortgage after the offer was accepted and I was about to go into the office when the agent began to tell me everything else I needed, which was life insurance and income protection. When I said I will source these myself when needed (lets not forget my mortgage wasn't even secured at this time let alone had the keys) I was told 'you need a broker for these'. Which is 100% not the truth. I have had these before so I knew I was being lied to. Knowing this my trust in them had gone and it was clear this was where they tried to make some commission - as if the £700 they were making from being my broker wasn't enough.
As a person with no dependents I politely declined life insurance and said this was something id explore further down the line, I was then told word for word 'sure, just die and leave all of your debt to your family.' Absolutely disgusting way to try and guilt someone into buying something that isn't required when purchasing a home so they can get your commission. As a first time buyer this felt like I was being taken advantage of.
I cancelled my next meeting with them and never heard back. You are literally a walking money sign to these agents. Go to a local broker who you feel you can trust

TrustpilotAwful service
Awful service
Extremely poor service from start to finish.
We used the Allerton Road branch they do not answer the phone, respond to emails or give any feedback.
They overvalued the property, so much so, that they asked us to reduce the sale price by £40,000 within 10 days of it being on the market. They set a fixed fee ( no mention of VAT) on original property value therefore receiving £700 more than they should have.
We exchanged and completed in May 26 and communicated with our buyer directly as Jones and Chapman did not bother to contact us.
Please do not use them.

TrustpilotThink Twice
Here's a review you can use:
I am extremely disappointed with Sequence Letting Agency (Jones & Chapman letting subsidiary).
Since moving into the property, I have faced numerous issues including dampness, poor heating, and low water pressure. These problems were first reported in November 2024, but despite my repeated attempts to get them resolved, the issues still persist due to their unprofessional and untimely responses.
The property has become uninhabitable, and I have had to serve notice on the lease. However, Sequence is now demanding that I pay all bills until they find a new tenant, despite the 12-month contract. This is completely unacceptable.
I strongly advise against putting your trust in Sequence. Their poor communication and lack of professionalism have made this experience incredibly frustrating.

TrustpilotPLEASE DON'T USE THEM. RUBBISH
PLEASE DON'T USE THEM, they are rubbish. This Allerton road office are about as a useful as a chocolate fire guard. They rarely answer their telephone and when you leave a message they never get back to you, the same with emails, they never even acknowledged my email when I cancelled my contract with them. Most of the viewers that I had told me they had terrible trouble trying to get through to them, some of them had to go down physically to the office. I had to take over the viewings of my late mother's house after the first three they did on my behalf because the alarm system went off. On the 3rd occasion the back door to the property was left open and the door to the garden was open.

TrustpilotHad my house up for sale with another…
Had my house up for sale with another Estate agent, Jones & Chapman phoned me week upon week trying to take over the services of selling my property.
When my 8 week contract ended with my existing Estate agent, I decided I would come over to Jones & Chapman based on their claims that they had "people queing up to buy in the area" and nationwide databases of people all waiting to move into the area" That was October 2023. I cannot stress how utterly disappointed and dissatisfied I am with the lack of viewings and servces I have received..so far I have had 3 bookings since October and none of them have showed up. Where have all the people they claimed were going to buy my property gone?.. they probably never existed in the first place, and when you inform them that their booking was a no show, nobody seems to care. Half of the time when you try and contact Jones & Chapman you can't get through, and if you are lucky enough to speak to somebody, you are told that somebody will phone you back...but they never do. I would not use this estate agent. Avoid
at all cost.

TrustpilotCommunication was awful
Communication was awful. We put an offer in on a house and waited days to hear back. The whole time they did not mention another vendor offering. I had spoke to them in between to see what was taking so long to hear. Then said we’d been outbid. No mention of any other offers. Not really apologetic and couldn’t care less.

TrustpilotComplete scammers and theives
Well I would like to say I'm shocked to see such bad score but after the phone call Ov just had im not. Rented a property back in 2016 was in a round about way warmed the landlord was a difficult man but wanted our kids to go the local school and that's all that was available we stuck it out for 8 years. The house falling apart around us and the landlord fixing NOTHING. So we left once our kids education was complete in Jan 2024. Then began the second war. The war with J&C trying to get my nearly £1500 deposit back is impossible. Being told I had to contact TDS for them to say not J&C have it now they are saying unless I can get a letter from Lucifer to say we can have it they wont give us it as they never managed the property. Well the guy could be dead for all I know as I have no contact details for his as he changed them over the years and never gave them to me. So now I got to court just what I need right now

TrustpilotWoeful customer service
Unfortunately the same thing has happened yet again with this branch. Book in for a viewing at the earliest possible time. Then get a phone call the day before the viewing to say someone has viewed and had an offer accepted.
Spoke to the branch manager who said they only have 1 viewing Clark, and they only work part-time. This means they can only do viewings on very few days.
Awful customer service, and goes hand in hand with when I almost dealt with them for a mortgage
Branch Manager was that arrogant that he couldn’t even stomach an apology

Absolutley extortionate. Over £3,000 in fees and the staff are of zero help.
You get a "progression officer" who is always weeks behind and expects you to update them.
Save your money! You do the work anyways. They just collect at the end.

TrustpilotAbsolutely horrendous from the word Go.
Absolutely horrendous from the word Go.
I am a tenant in Private Housing and have lived here 7 years (with numerous different estate agents along the way). Besides somewhat slow service from the previous Estate agents there has never been a problem when my Landlord switched.
Now however they took over as Estate agents midway though December where I had already paid my rent to the previous Estate agents at the beginning of the month. They are demanding payment for December and also decided to increase the December rent (Which is illegal, go to Gov.uk and check rent increases, they must give you a month notice before a rent increase if you are on a rolling monthly contract) and now, having paid them January's rent they are claiming they cannot trace the payment, even though I have sent them numerous emails with proof from my bank statements. They now claim I am in arrears by 2 months at the higher rate... Absolute Cowboys. There should be a minus 5 star on trustpilot for jokers like this company. I am not going to pay 4 months rent for the 2 months I have paid for. They should be banned from trading completely.

Have just bought a house and am absolutely appalled with the service received from Jones and Chapman Moreton & Greasby. Unprofessional, rude and miserable staff. Have had to take this complaint to a Solicitors because they just didn't care about the severity of the inconvenience caused on handover day. Would now never sell a house with them nor would I want to purchase one up for sale with them.

TrustpilotDissapointed
Just sold my house with Jones and Chapman. I would say the only person who was helpful was Carol from the Allerton Road branch .My experience with the sales progresser was not a good one , I was told off like a naughty school girl if I ever called up to ask for updates. I told them how I felt and that I am paying them for a service, that's when they got nicer as it was coming to the end and don't want a bad review. There is also a lady by the name of Karon, she was the one who hounded me to choose Jones & Chapman , once I agreed she told me I shouldn't be calling her for help and passed me on , said she was very busy, then vanished!. I am a nurse and I am very busy too. I will never use this estate agents again , nor recommend you to anyone. Thanks again to Carol for your help when I needed it. Maria.

TrustpilotVery unprofessional!
Got in touch with them to purchase a property, have just put an offer through, but the experience just up to this point has been extremely disappointing! Viewings were not organised very well, wasted over an hour waiting to view a property and it turns out they didn't know who ever was supposed to take us isn't. The person at the office didn't think this was disorganised and was very rude! Put an offer on a property that was confirmed it's no longer under auction, but it is! Not helpful or professional at all! Do not recommend!

TrustpilotI wish I could give less than one star
I wish I could give less than one star. Jones Chapman Allerton Road - what a mess. Consistently lieing to me, getting things wrong, overcharging me, telling lies to the tenant, not following through with what they have said. They say 'I will ensure this will be sent over now' then radio silence for 5 days. This has been much more hard work than managing the property myself. Avoid at all costs.

TrustpilotTerrible experience of dealing with Jones and Chapman, Heswall, their Area Manager and Head Office
Our experience of dealing with the Heswall branch of Jones and Chapman was disgraceful. Issues were as follows:- 2 occasions the house was left without the alarm being set by J & C following a viewing. We had previously instructed them to set the alarm every time and they had agreed to that. 1 occasion it was left unlocked by J & C and so totally unsecured without being locked or alarmed. This viewing had been carried out by the Manager himself. J & C took people into the property without notifying us prior to the visit.J & C notified us that an offer had been made on our property, that it was cash and there was no chain. After accepting the offer on this basis we found out the reality was that, it was a buyer with a mortgage and there was a chain! We instructed J & C not to put “Under Offer” on the board outside the house. They ignored this and put up an Under Offer sign. I rang the Manager at J & C to voice my complaint about the issues above, he said he would talk to the staff and get back to me. Despite numerous contacts to the offices I never heard from the Manager afterwards. I rang the head office, Connells Group, and spoke to a Compliance Controller in the Complaints Department. He then fruitlessly tried to contact the Manager of Heswall Branch. I was appalled that a Head Office complaints department could not get to speak to their own branch manager. The official complaint was then sent from the Head Office to the Area Manager in charge of the Heswall Branch. However the Area Manager also refused to respond to Head Office. Then Head Office wrote to us stating we had rejected the Area Managers response despite the fact that they had previously written to us to state that the Area Manager had refused to respond to the complaint. Head Office eventually submitted their final response to us, however even this was after the deadline we had been given for their response. We asked The Property Ombudsman to look at the case they stated:-I have supported the complaints that have been made and consider that the circumstances merit an award of compensation. My award will reflect the avoidable aggravation, distress and inconvenience caused to the Complainants. I accept there were shortcomings in the service provided by J&C.J&C have acknowledged that the information initially provided by the branch caused confusion. As such J&C have not fulfilled their obligations, under the TPO Code of Practice, in that they did not pass the correct information to the Seller regarding the Buyer’s financial status. In accordance with Paragraph 8h of the TPO Code of Practice, J&C were obliged to exercise reasonable diligence to ensure that, after any visit by them, the Property was left secure. I accept that J&C did not follow the Seller’s instruction regarding resetting the alarm.J&C have acknowledged that when the initial complaint was raised, calls were not returned despite requests from J&C’s Compliance Department for the branch to do so…….. J&C have further acknowledged that the Complainants did not receive a response to their initial complaint. The Complainants chased for a response and received a letter which stated that a further review would be conducted, however no previous review had been conducted. J&C have acknowledged that their Internal Complaints Procedure had been breached because an initial review had not been conducted. In accordance with Paragraph 14d of the TPO Code of Practice, J&C were obliged to acknowledge all written complaints within three working days and promptly undertake a proper investigation. A formal written outcome of the complaint had to be sent to the Complainants within fifteen working days of receipt of the original complaint. In accordance with Paragraph 14e..The Complainants did not receive a formal response to their initial complaint and as such were not informed of how they could escalate the matter. This significantly delayed the complaints process. All in all a terrible experience start to finish

Trustpilot0 STARS ACROSS THE BOARD - AVOID AT ALL COSTS
I have recently rented an apartment from Jones & Chapman and the service has been non existent!
Other than their interest in securing monies I have moved into a property that is dirty, has issues with various repairs that I was asked "did you not notice that during the viewing".
The viewing itself was shambolic as had been there less than a minute when was asked "do you want to go ahead today?!".
I don't know where any of the meters are or the bins!
I have been told that issues were being escalated to the landlord well over a week ago!
Please avoid them at all costs or specifically the Birkenhead branch! They should be ashamed of themselves!!!!
