Buying and selling a property is already a very stressful time and I found this estate agents overall poor, and general lack of communication exasperated what should be a simple part of the process in relation to viewing properties. I contacted the agency a number of times requesting a viewing to not get through to anyone or told to wait for a callback. When I did finally receive the confirmation, communication issues persisted with no replies to queries, a dead phone line when trying to call, and even a closed office even though we could see someone sitting in there. I was often given the excuse of a tech issue, but no other route to contact them was offered. We were left standing in the cold waiting for the viewing and 15 minutes late the door opened and it appeared the estate agent was waiting inside the whole time. I was very disappointed in the service and even if I was interested in the property I would think twice before buying in case the poor communication carried on delaying the sale.

Bernard Marcus is by far the worst estate agent we have ever dealt with. We had a viewing scheduled for 11:30, and just 10 minutes beforehand, we received a call asking us to meet at their office instead. As it was only an eight-minute walk from the property we wanted to view, we agreed. Upon arrival at the office, we were left waiting for 10 minutes before someone finally emerged from the back to speak to us about mortgages, despite us having already explained that we are cash buyers. At 11:50, we were told to go to the property, where someone would meet us. We walked there, again about eight minutes away. When we arrived, no one was there. We waited for 40 minutes and called the office multiple times, only to be repeatedly told that someone was already outside waiting for us. This was simply untrue, we were lied to several times regarding the whereabouts of the estate agent. The only time we were taken seriously was when I said I would be leaving a strongly worded Google review. I’m incredibly frustrated that we cannot get back the hour and a half that we wasted. If I could give this dreadful company zero stars, I would. Do not sell your property with them, this is exactly how they will treat your potential buyers.

I just sold my house with Barnard Marcus Sydenham branch and I have a great experience. I tried 2 states agents before, which one of them from Sydenham and they couldn’t sell my house. However when I instructed Barnard Marcus they gave me the best deal, also they were very accommodating with viewings as I requested to arranged the house only on Saturday as has a tenant in the house. In a few weeks I received several offers, while with the previous estate agents I received none. What was more important was the work that Tony made liaising with solicitors day in day out to complete the sale when was needed, she was amazing! I have bought and sold a few properties over the years and I have never had such a great support to complete the sale.I highly recommend Barnard Marcus Sydenham branch!

They didn't show up for a viewing I had at a property - waiting on the street is not how I wanted to spend a Saturday afternoon! Rang the offices and sent emails and no response. I had definitely booked it and had a confirmation email from them and everything. All that happened is they left me a voicemail asking me to call them back, and when I did they didn't pick up again. I shared all of this with them and they haven't responded and there's been no apology. Ridiculously poor and unprofessional service.

From the moment I called Barnard Marcus Estate Agents in Sydenham I was impressed with their friendly nature, support with the house sale and expertise of the property market. Toni, Jay and Nathan have been so supportive and helpful throughout the whole sale process which comes with it's own stresses. Toni is always on the end of the phone checking in to make sure I am Ok and there with a cuppa and a chat when my onward purchase started to look shaky.
