Downsizing from a 4 bed to a 3 bed.

Visited Michelle at Thoresby Vale on 18/4/22 to look at downsizing to a 3 bedroom Alderton. At Michelle’s suggestion we physically visited one that was nearly complete to make sure that it was met our requirements. We really appreciated this as it made up our minds. So thank you Michelle for putting yourself out and making us feel valued clients. Looking forward to being in a Harron home.Steve and Jane Bramwell.

Homes not fit for purpose and non-existent customer service

We've now lived in our Harron Home since November 2018 at the Edenbrook vale site and do like the layout of the home which is the only positive I can say but we are constantly finding new issues even after 19 months in the property. If you want a home where you are told to simply live with your issues Harron is the right company for you. When we started purchasing our house we were promised a premium quality and a premium customer service what we got was corners cut everywhere and non-existent customer service for a premium price. Once they have your money all communication stopped, even an auto-response stating they have received your email seems like too much work for Harron to accomplish. We gave a list of issues a month before moving in and chase up a few days before moving in only to be met with silence, upon chasing it up with the sales staff we received an email confirming they had all been fixed. When we got the keys not only had the house not been cleaned as we were told it would be, they had only "fixed" 7 out of 65 issues, of those my favourite fix was where we were missing both the door sensors on the alarm we had paid extra for, instead of adding the sensors they had simply filled in the holes where the cables should have been. On moving in we had no hot water and heating wasn't working correctly. The site manager never materialised at handover nor did any subsequent visit or contact from anyone at Harron .We were told appliances would be tested before moving in, many weren't even plumbed in and the ones that were were incorrectly done so, we spent 12 weeks without a washing machine which Harron told us they would fix only to find after 10 weeks that we would have to fix it ourselves. Other issues like the heating taking hours to warm up the house if it even managed to reach temperature and the thermostats being wired to the wrong rooms, Harron kindly waited while after winter had finished before fixing those. We've been told to not use the thermostats on the radiators as they don't serve much purposes as turning them to just above 3 or below just means they are off as Harron has used 10mm instead of the 12mm piping according to Harron's own plumber. All the glassed doors were scratched many others were damaged or bowed, and don't fit flush or no longer fit in the frame, not to mention the fact that they look like they have been fitted by the ladies in the sales office in their spare time, but Harron refused to do anything about those. Electrical issues include the kitchen lights flashing when we turn on the living room lights which we were told its not dangerous so just live with it, isolation switches to kitchen appliances not working, and appliances not wired up to manufactures guidelines. Our garden has now started collapsing at the bottom into the site behind due to a lack of appropriate groundwork. Its was a nightmare to get anything resolved as from over 300 emails we have around 30 responses and we have only ever once had my call returned. On occasions when you do actually get someone attending it gets fixed but then you get left with other issues or half-finished jobs, or Harron doesn't book tradesmen for long enough to complete tasks, or they're expected to do jobs which aren't theirs. On one occasion I even got told a snagger would be at my house for 3 days so booked the time off work, he arrived promptly the first morning only to leave after about an hour for a tool to cut a kitchen panel only to not return while lunchtime on the 3rd day for another 2 hours fixing the panel only to then discover that the panel was the wrong colour, so we now have 1 kitchen panel in a yellow off white colour and the rest being gloss white, a waist of 3 days and only 1 issue got semi-fixed. Me and my wife use a total of 43 days holiday to get issues resolved, and that's just the ones Harron agreed to fix.Harron's methods of fixing them seemed to ignore it and it will go away as at one point we were told we could only contact 1 person who neither responded to email nor returned phone calls. Harron will do anything to get out of fixing issues, we eventually made a claim with the LABC to get some issues fixed but not all fixed. Even with the LABC claim, Harron tried getting out of fixing problems, telling me we had changed to locks (which we had not done) on the garage door to avoid replacing the broken handle. It was fixed but only after I went round the entire estate looking or another garage door with a identical lock. We have recently found more issues but due to previous experiences we are in two minds if to report them to Harron as we will waste hours chasing them up often to no avail and it's often simply more cost-effective time-wise to pay someone else to fix it or that the fix will be rushed and leave me with another issue or a half-finished job if completed by Harron.

Management and customer care team from…

Management and customer care team from Harron homes is incredibly poor. Logged a leak on December 17th, it took several attempts to fix, a visit from a director and many many phone calls from us chasing for them to recognise what the issue actually was. We have had scaffolding up since February and this has only just gone down. Whilst we have been very patient given the COVID-19 situation we are now still being ignored on when we can expect final work to be completed despite government guidance having been out for the last month which clearly states the go ahead. There is no aftercare which they promise. We have lived in our new build for over 12 months now and have never received follow up calls to see how we’re getting along as promised. The houses are lovely, but if you want the new build experience for a ‘luxury’ development I would highly recommended NOT using Harron Homes as the follow through is unbelievably bad for the amount of money spent. We have tried to be patient and understanding but there has been no acknowledgement or learning applied.

Crich, beautiful location and a great home design

My wife and I moved in to our new HH house in Crich on 22nd April during the height of the Covid19 epidemic. The team at HH were absolutely brilliant in doing what they could to make the move as stress free as possible during a very testing time. In fact, the whole sales process from start to finish dealing with Kim, Julie and Nathan was a great experience. The good thing is that even after we moved in Kim is still there if we need her. The site manager Wayne really cares about the development, and although he hasn’t been there long, is making a big difference. The design of the house is stunning, which is a big differentiator for HH from other builders. The location, in beautiful village, is a great place to live, with endless walks from the door and good village facilitates to use such as butchers, bakers, pubs and a village shop. In terms of the quality, other than things I knew about before moving, we have not had any serious issues to date. Based on our initial experience I am happy with the purchase and will post an update again once we have settled in a bit more.

We have recently purchased a Harron Home plot at the Amberwoodchase location. We agreed on a part exchange following a quick desktop valuation and then reserved the ‘Birkwith’ property. As we bought one of the last houses that were being built on this site we did not get a chance to see a show home as they were sold. But Jane arranged it with the site manager for us to see a near completed Birkwith house. I've lost count to the number of times I called Jane with various questions but she was always courteous and took her time answering my queries The service provided by Jane Jubb and her team has been second to none so far and we are looking forward to moving into our new house in the coming months. We highly recommend Harron homes to anybody looking to purchase a new build property.

Genuine review

Pre completion - 10/10. Cannot do enough for you! 6 months post completion - 2/10. Also worth noting, they haven't signed up to quality checks through the new homes ombudsman service, so aren't registered with those. Which means if you have a problem, the ombudsman can't fight your corner. Take from that whatever you wish. I wish I had never bought our Haron Home property, it has been one problem after another, and for our entire 6 months of owning, we have found fault after fault. Not general 'house settling' snags (which are to be expected), but negligence. - Our living room carpet had to be replaced due to workmen damaging this. When I raised this to someone at site, I was told "oh yes, I noticed that and flagged it, did they not sort it?" So they knew about this before we completed, yet decided to not sort it when the house was empty, but in fact sort it once they had our £ at the inconvenience of us, to remove all furniture again. - Our Utility room flooring has been replaced already. Reason being? Haron Homes did not attach our washing machine waste pipe for our integrated washing machine. The flooring was then damaged when the washing machine had to be removed (also by HH) to attach this.- We have had our kitchen wall and ceiling replastered. This is due to shoddy plumbing work in the bathroom, leaking into the kitchen. The independent emergency plumber who visited asked if a 3 year old had done the pipework.- Which brings me on to the bathroom! We have had to have our bathroom wall back to brick to repair the shoddy work. The plumber FROM THE COMPANY HARON HIRE refused to take ownership on the phone to his boss, saying 'absolutely no way this is my work, not a chance I do work like this'.- We had a hole in our roof.- Our heating was connected back to front so the wrong thermostat controlled the wrong part of the house. - I complained a room in our house was 4-5 degrees colder than the rest of the house (it sits at a max of 16 degrees at all times unless the heating is at 22+ everywhere else). I was told 'its because it is above the garage'. What a load of rubbish! An operative from Haron Homes lifted the carpet slightly. THE FLOORBOARD IS NOT BIG ENOUGH FOR THE ROOM! THERE IS A LITERAL HOLE ACROSS THE ENTIRE SIDE OF THE ROOM! No insulation in there to stop the cold air seeping through, no expanding foam. 0 effort to repair the fault. Just a carpet placed on top. I have asked when this will be sorted as it is costing us a fortune in heating in the middle of winter. No reply. And if you try to complain about the above? You get nowhere! I complained in OCTOBER and all I have had, is a ridiculous 'your case worker is working on this'. I complained on Linkedin to the MD, he rang me once to say he was reviewing the file (on the 15th November). Nothing since.Honestly, I am all for 'houses have snags' in fact, none of the above snags were raised by our snagger that we got in (aside from the hole in the roof) - he raised another 117 of them. Minor, cosmetic snags that you can live with and expect of a new build. What I did not ever expect from a house was holes in floors, new bathrooms, new plastering of kitchens and a company who do not seem to give a hoot. I wish I had avoided Haron Homes. It has made buying and living in our what was once thought to be forever home, a horrendous experience filled with "what next" and dread.*Edit to reply to Haron homes* I emailed Natalie 14/12. No reply. Also solar insulation haven't been in contact whatsoever, and them coming is a waste of time. The insulation isn't the problem, the floorboard being too short for the room leaving a hole between the wall and floorboard ending is the problem. Which both your operative and I have told customer care on multiple occasions. Why aren't you listening to your own operatives who have identified the fault? I asked to place a formal complaint, why hasn't this been actioned except a acknowledgement email?Your MD was meant to be contacting me once he'd looked at the complaint, why hasn't this happened?Complaints are ignored. Time after time after time.

Bishops Glade

We have recently moved into our Harron home at Bishops Glade, Ripon. The experience has been very positive and in particular we would like to thank Heidi, the sales executive, who has gone out of her way to help and support us through the process. We would also like to say thank you to Brian the site manager and Andy, deputy manager who have made it clear they are here to help us and make sure we have the home we wanted. As with any new build home there are always snags to sort out. As we moved in just before lockdown our snags are being noted and we have been assured they will be sorted as soon as it’s safe for us and the team on the site. Having got to know Brian, Andy and the lovely Heidi we have no reason not to have faith in this.

I previously rated my home 4 stars however since living here there have been many thing that I have uncovered and now I am unhappy with the property. Poor workmanship throughout. Harron use quality materials but the tradesman employed are poor. Erecting our fences over 2 manholes who does that?? We were told during handover that our wardrobe that wasn't fitted would be as soon as possible and our soil would be rotivated. That was almost 2 months ago and we haven't even been told when this might happen. Then there is the fact we have raised our issues 12 days ago and still awaiting a personal response. I feel like we were rushed into our house at the start of lockdown so Harron could get their money and we have been ignored since. We paid almost 300 grand this is not satisfactory.

Very happy customers

Through no fault of our own (or Harron Homes), our journey from reserving to completing was quite stressful. However, Ann Lawler in the Sales Office was always so supportive, guiding us through the process, putting up with our endless phone calls and helping us in whatever way she could. We are so very grateful for her help (and patience!). We are delighted with our new home and very excited to bring our little ones up in it.

Lavender fold

Lavender fold! We purchased our house on Friday we haven’t yet moved in. There are a few thing I noticed for the snag list. One of our fitted wardrobe is missing, our back garden need sorting the soil hasn’t been rotivated and our front hasn’t been turfed and our drive seems to be thinner than all neighbouring plots. Our move was originally mid February delayed to end of March which wasn’t great as that when I returned from maternity leave. Update weren’t always given as promised. We however still love the house it is beautiful and we have had pretty good service. A shout out to Andy the site manager he is fab, super helpful and friendly.

Really pleased we moved to Heritage Green!

Our experience of purchasing our house on Heritage Green and part exchanging with Harron Homes has been quick, simple and stress free. Nathan and Jeanett were straight forward as a Sales Team. Very easy to deal with. Properties are freehold (not like a previous review suggested). They aren't built on top of each other like a lot of other new build sites. The estate is really well presented. We have been in our new house for a few days now and our snag list is surprisingly very low!! Overall, we're really happy with the experience we've had and we're very pleased we decided to move here!

The Harron Home Experience has been the…

The Harron Home Experience has been the worst experience of my life and I beg you to buy elsewhere. The customer charter is not worth the paper it is written on. I moved into my property on 13th December 2019, the previous week we did the home demo and noticed paid for items outstanding. We were told these would be in for move in day...Fast forward to 24th March 2020, 16 weeks into this. All I can say is if I had a receipt I would give the house back. I am still waiting for my paid for items to be installed. I have had 2 snaggers round who have pasted my walls throughout my house with polyfiller and left it like that, stating it is not their job to sand down and paint. I should have white walls throughout but these are brown/yellow colour, as a result of being painted when the plaster was wet. I have a staircase falling to bits. Drains smelling. Doors I cannot shut, scratched windows, missing cement, damaged bricks and cement all over walls...I could continue...The level of incompetence up the management chain is unbelievable. I don’t buy for one second that sites are run by mercenaries! They must have someone to report to at head office. They are passing house off that are in a terrible state.Communication is non-existent and you never know who is dealing with you or what is going on. You are constantly chasing move in dates, if it is on track, work being carried out and whether workmen are turning up. I have lost count how many annual leave days I have wasted staying in for workmen to arrive that don’t!I strongly recommend visiting my house prior to buying a home with Harron and I can guarantee the ‘luxury’ and ‘quality’ they pride themselves on will soon be wiped! Especially seeing the cowboy workmanship and bodge jobs. When in your property you will see many workmen on site and parking outside your property, not a problem. However, the problems arise when they walk past your house and work on unoccupied houses knowing fair well that your house is not in an acceptable state. Site and head office allow this to happen and it is a kick in the teeth. Which goes to show when they have your money they are absolutely not bothered about the aftercare. The process of complaining in is unclear and when you ask for the policy you are ignored. I strongly advise anyone to not buy a Harron Home, if you value your sanity and health. As once they have your money they completely ignore you, your issues and problems.I am considering legal action over this experience. In reply to Harron Homes,I am sick to death of asking questions and chasing Nicholas to get answers. I think there needs to be a lot of internal questions as to why my house is in such a state. I appreciate what you are saying that customer care know about my case, yet nothing has been done.It is approaching 4 months now and internally and externally the house is of poor quality. The quality and luxury is non-existent in this property. Gaps externally in the brickwork, gaps around the facias and windows. Ultimately the workmanship is atrocious. I have paid for items which are still not in my property, which is a breach of contract, and I am told these are not being disputed so maybe someone could explain why workmen, who were on site all last week could not install these? I have no outside tap to water my turf due to the incompetence of someone at Harron, I now have to traipse a hose pipe through my house, leaving doors unlocked and open. This was a suggestion by a manager which I would argue is irresponsible and unsafe! But the said manager has said Harron will not cover the turf if it was to die!Honestly please think twice before buying a Harron Homes!

Snagging still not complete after 3 YEARS- HARRON IGNOR EMAILS!!

Moved in 3 years ago. We bought what we thought was high quality floor coverings for the entire house that should have been fitted prior to us moving in. We thought it would take the hassle out of the move with having 4 young children (one of which a newborn) On moving day we exchanged contacts, collected the keys & arrived with our removals company to find that the carpets were in the process of being fitted. The amtico that we had paid for was not fitted as the floor had only just been screeded so we could not step foot in our brand new kitchen for days after. We paid extra money for the removal firm to just sit & wait outside our house with 4 young children in tow then because the guys could not stay past 9pm due to other commitments we had to pay for their service for another day to finish the job off- to which harron homes would not accept responsibility for or pay for the second day (even though had they fitted the floors sooner we could have moved in within the agreed timescale)After moving in there was LOTS of snagging but we were ok with that and just accepted it however 3 years after moving in with ongoing emails & calls they have failed to complete snagging, the floors we paid for are faulty and one is even too short but no one will respond to my messages. I have been MORE than reasonable, I fact on one occasion when Harron Homes did send out two work men whom they employed their workers went through our belonging, may crude company’s about our family members (including one of our children) and made fun of the state of the white washed all’s that had kids finger marks on going down the stairs (the fact being that we couldn’t decorate until certain snagging had been completed). This was caught on internal home security systems and emails to management, we received a measly letter of apology and said they would complete work ASAP but that the ‘gentlemen’ concerned would not even be allowed on our development again. These were complete lies as one worked on the house next door two weeks later! And ALL OF THE SNAGGING & THE FAULTY FLOOR COVERING STILL REMAIN!Absolutely disgusting!!

Myself and my family contacted Harron yesterday evening to discuss purchasing our 2nd family home at The Hawthorns in Carlton, Goole. When we spoke to the sales team at the office via phone, Rebecca Chapman ran through the options available with us and invited us down yesterday evening.Upon arrival, Rebecca was fantastic at running through the plans for the site and property with us, explaining everything concisely and thoroughly, despite the time being well past the closing time of the office. No question was too much about the process and answered as thoroughly as possible. Purchase on lavender fold site

I have recently purchased a new build from Harron homes on the lavender fold site. From the start the sales office staff, Sharon and Eileen, were fantastic - I must admit, first off, I thought it was till I bought a house, but that excellent customer service continued till the day of completion and after - Sharon, in the sales office, has always gone above and beyond, even to the detriment of her own personal time - for that I can’t thank her enough The only issue that doesn’t quite make this a 5 star, is how quick Harron want to complete, even when the house isn’t quite ready. That’s such a shame, as the experience of buying and the customer care is brilliant, but rushing people into the property does slightly ruin the experience. Once in we’ve found the aftercare excellent, site manager more than helpful and anything that requires attention got sorted. Overall the quality of the home is excellent and the Finnish is great, especially the bathroom and kitchen - good quality cupboards and bathroom suit. The guys on site are approachable and very helpful and the sales office staff go above and beyond. I love my new home!

Purchased a Leasehold property

Purchased a Leasehold property, which the implications were not fully explained. Neither was the service charge nor management company. Just told it would £100 a year cost towards cutting grass. Property was not ready on completion as around 30 men were still in house on the date of completion, no builders clean, no carpets, no garage keys, missing cupboard shelves in kitchen. I had issue after issue and no use of ensuite for months as sewage kept coming back up through shower and Harron would not send anyone. After 6 months we had our own insurance send out someone to inspect drains and it was found that they had not even linked outlet pipe to main drains. Been an awful experience. Still have outstanding issues and now been in for almost 4 years. Been waiting 2 years for driveway to have repairs. Think we are now next on list! Still missing cupboard shelves. We do love the style of the house, house brickwork and size of rooms. However, we are a divided community freehold/leasehold and even more divided informal or formal methods being used to purchase freehold as properties that are leasehold on estate are not sellings when put up for sale. It has been a really stressful experience!Plot 14 Edenbrook Vale

Purchased our home four years ago on…

Purchased our home four years ago on Amberwood Chase. Site manager on site not the most helpful and customer service wasn’t the best when dealing with after care. However. The owner of the company swiftly sought for change once he was made aware. Since completed and snagging resolution, we have enjoyed four brilliant years in our family home. The design of the homes are spacious and light. We are looking to move into another property built by harron on the same site which offers additional space and have recently dealt with Jayne Jubb who was helpful and very informative of our options.

Bought on Lavender Fold

Bought on Lavender Fold, Mapplewell and completed late December. In the interest of given a fair review and not just list the negatives I will start with the good part. - House is really well built and overall a great design with good features- All on site sub contracted tradesmen are decent guys and happy to help.- Estate is very well planned and great community feel- Roads are cleaned regular on the estate-Site manger did a good home demo and offered help getting rid of moving boxesProbelm areas in our own experience- Final finish is poor, doors internal don't close properly, paint work is not great with plant splashing all over the sockets- our house has suffered from not being cleaned properly before hand over and floors left covered on plaster, which is now viable through carpets. -Tiling in bathrooms lacks finesse and appears rushed and not cleaned off after grouting properly- plastering was rushed and admitted by the sub contractor. But said was due to time of year and too many house being done together. Although full credit to sub contractor who repaired quickly and accepted the issue- Issue with window, but sub contractor again sorted quickly - missing vents in bathroom, been requested but still not delivered.- back garden shocking, we knew no turf was standrad but in my own opinion it should be atleast flat and even- generally even though cleaned house looks like it's been lived in for over a year and not brand new (that is actually based on a professional oppionon from a third party- Communication/ aftercare is terrible, had no calls, replies to email via head office.- snagging list still waiting and alot of basic things need doing still. In summary harron can build a great shell of a house, but can not finish it to a new house standrad. Communication is all one way and left us feeling like the only thing that mattered was out money-

Harron Homes the Grange

I went into have a look around the show homes at the Grange and had an amazing experience! I was greeted by a lovely lady (but I can’t remember her name). I then spoke with the amazing Joanne and she showed me, my husband and the kids around the show homes and they were stunning! So clean and immaculately presented I was ready to move in straight away. Joanne discussed all of the options with us and answered all of the questions we had. She knows her stuff and made us feel so comfortable! I never leave reviews but I had to come on and say something about my experience because I was just so blown away. Thanks to Joanne and the team for being so kind! We’ll be back very very soon!!

Bilsthorpe Chase - HH not quality or luxury!! SHODDY HOMES

Bilsthorpe Chase, PLOT 112PLEASE SEE OUR PHOTOS ON HARRON HOMES BILSTHORPE CHASE REVIEW SITE. OH AND GUESS WHAT!? THEY ARE NOT MEMBERS OF THE NEW HOMES OMBUDSMAN (NHOS). WE WONDER WHY THAT IS! We purchased our house on the 31st October 2024. The main issues we have had are as follows:-• leak under the sink and no jubilee clip. It’s taken three attempts to stop the leak. • the WiFi controller that controls the central heating hasn’t worked from day one. It was never demonstrated how to use the APP. The site manager confirmed when we moved in that he was supposed to go on a training course which never materialised. It’s difficult to obtain technical support at ESI Controls. We are having to use the heating manually which isn’t an ideal situation. Why have modern tech if it’s not fit for purpose and no one on site has a clue how to operate it. • low pressure upstairs. Hardly had any pressure in the system and water barely flowing. It made having a shower or a bath difficult. It took too long to fill. We were told the part had been ordered by the site manager. After 3 weeks of waiting and speaking to Head Office my husband managed to speak to the onsite plumber who remedied the situation. If we hadn’t have spoken to him about it we would have been waiting a further 3-6 weeks. • the tiles in ALL bathrooms are shocking. Grout all over the tiles and not just a small area. Our tiles certainly don’t look very sparkly like they advertise in their show homes. Please feel free to contact us and we will happily send you photographs. • paint all over the door handles and hinges. Some are worse than others.• brown stain on the living room carpets where the contractors haven’t take their shoes off. • sticky labels still on the windows that’s not been removed and scratches on majority of the glass panels. • reported to the site managers the fact that the glass bath shower screen making an horrendous noise and the rubber seal not sitting on the bath. It’s folding under and getting stuck. We were told by Head Office that they wouldn’t be covering it as it’s not classed as a defect/snag. Seriously! We have had no end of issues.. too many to list on here. When we raised all the issues we’ve been experiencing with Head Office they abruptly informed us that their main priority is dealing with customers who have had serious issues with water leaks. Thank you for pointing that out. You really know how to make customers of Harron Homes feel valued. The review is our honest opinion of Harron Homes. Don’t get me wrong their homes are very well thought out, aesthetically pleasing and the location is lovely but the lack of attention to detail, craftsmanship and products are not to a high standard as advertised and marketed. Mr and Mrs D, PLOT 112 BILSTHORPE CHASE I’ve removed the name of the person that I spoke to at Head Office in order for you not to remove my review! Please don’t send a generic email saying we’ve been unable to locate you. We don’t put our full name as we are very private people. You have our plot number. UPDATEI’ve had cleaning contractors come out this morning to clean the tiles and uncovered their shoddy workmanship. We’ve uncovered a cracked tile that they’ve covered with grout to hide it, the tiles are not level in the shower cubicle and the grout is not white but a dirty brown colour. I’ve tried to upload a photo but it doesn’t let you on here. Shame then you could see for yourselves. We wished we would have stayed clear of buying a Harron Home when we saw the sign ‘Horror Homes’ that a customer had placed outside their house.
