I’ve constantly had to chase the estate…

I’ve constantly had to chase the estate agents to do anything. I couldn’t move into my property because they photocopied the wrong side of my driving license, didn’t notice this until 3 days before and when I tried to call the agent I was working with hand gone on annual leave. Despite going to another branch (I’m 160 miles from where I am moving to) and then photocopying it, they forgot to send it on.I’ve rented and bought properties before and never worked with such an inept load of estate agents.

Wellingborough branch - AVOID

Wellingborough branch. DON'T EVER USE THEM! Was trying to sell my house and purchase another property, which they had already had on the market for over a year. Lies, misinformation, every email an exerercise in cya, rather than trying to sell your house or help you to purchase another property. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. They have now lost six clients alone related to my house sale and I know of several other unhappy vendors, including someone who asked them specifically not to give out her potential purchase address to an ex-partner, who was guilty of domestic violence, and which they ignored!

Selling a home in Barnsley, DON'T use WHB Barnsley branch.

I can only talk about the Barnsley branch and only house selling. The whole experience with WHB, Barnsley home selling department, was shambolic at best.Hard to get hold of them on the phone, tried to leave a message on their answer phone, but their system was always full, even after repeatedly informing them, when and if they answered their phone. Made me wonder, If I couldn’t get through then what hope have the potential buyers.Very little feedback from potential buyers. I got the impression that their attitude was “we’ve tried them once, got no answer” and then left it.The boards arrived a month late, then put in the wrong position.I agree these might be small problems, but these are only a few of my concerns with WHB, each problem adds up to be a bigger problem, and when I spoke with WHB about it I was told, “not our fault, the boards come from another company” and “we can’t force people to leave feedback”, while both of these may be true, they have the relationship with the board company and the potential buyer, so yes they could have been a lot more proactive in getting answers. The final straw came when a potential buyer came and looked at the house then said “It’s taken me over 2 weeks to get through to WHB to arrange a viewing for here, also we lost a house because WHB didn’t get back to us, hence the reason we have to look again”. I did inform them that we had not been anywhere and WHB had not contacted us.This was 10 weeks into our contract, so on hearing this I spoke with WHB regarding cancelling the contract. In no uncertain terms I was told that I couldn’t, as it was for 20 weeks and we had only done 10. So I took it further, spoke with WHB head office, they said that they would get someone to have a look at the issues, another 2 week passes. The report (which can only be described as coming from a school child on work experience), said that he found nothing wrong, (nothing like marking one’s own homework) I replied to his mail asking why he never bothered to contact me for clarification regarding my complaint, his reply was “If I wasn’t happy with his findings to email another group member and they might be able to help”, this I did getting the reply (another week gone by) our procedures for a full investigation take 7 weeks to complete, (what a coincidence, 7 weeks on top of the now 13 weeks = 20 weeks, the contract length)I finally took my house off them and placed it with ‘your-move’ who acted professionally and sold the house in 7 weeks.

Absolutely disgusting! Grantham branch

Absolutely disgusting!Letted of Grantham branch, the manager or so called manager lies to you saying you can stay in a property but then 2 days before your rent is due demand a 550 bond and says you have to pay it in two days on top of the rent due, what the f**ck was the deposit for then! Despite this they also knew we had baby due in 2 weeks time! Imagine the stress of finding a extra 550 aswell as preparing for a newborn! Then when other estate agent asks for a reference we then get told they will not release the reference untill we pay the rent which is fair enough but the references was submitted 10 days before the rent is due, surely not aloud! They also like to share out your information which is a breach of GDPR!3 weeks later still fighting for deposit which we’ve agreed on the deductions and also waiting on 10 days rent they owe us! Quick to take your money, not so quick to give it back!Never again will we use these cowboys, went to EBG and it’s been plain sailing which we went there first!

Avoid

Colchester St. John's. Shocking customer service, dreadful experience buying a house through them. After waiting for 6 months for the seller to find a property we were told that we must pay more or they will sell to someone else. Rude staff, arguing on phone. Never want to deal with them again. Be careful because under the nice facade there is venom.

Awful customer service from their Lettings agency. Impossible to get hold of, and still waiting for the deposit owed me since March 2022 to be returned and should not have to chase for. Feels like they are hoping I will just write it off, which I will not. Will never use them again and will tell everyone and anyone I know to do the same.

Would not use as key-holders again.

The Wisbech branch found a buyer quickly although the completion took a long while. The staff dealing with us were ok but staff visiting the property persisted in leaving internal doors open and the curtains open.It is basic good practice when leaving any house empty even for a short period to close all internal doors. It is also basic good practice NOT to make it obvious house is unoccupied or unfurnished.Very disappointed in those unprofessional staff. Our complaint via web site was not responded to.We would NOT let them act as key holders in the future.

William brown managed to sell our house quick enough although it was priced very fairly. However, the solicitors they recommend are useless. If they have a problem they have to look it up on the internet. They nearly lost us the sale over a simple right of access problem. We had to ring the buyers and explain. Their prices are set by browns also.Their mortgage advisor found us a mortgage 2,% higher than an independent. Would never use them or their associates again.

A truly dreadful estate agent

A truly dreadful estate agent. Absolutely no feedback or chasing up of progress during sale. The agent NEVER returns calls and this was also fed back to me by both my solicitor and the vendor's estate agents. In fact, my solicitor was so frustrated by the poor service, she recommended that I negotiate a reduction in fees (which of course was refused by the agent). When a complaint by letter was made, it took over a week for them to respond and my concerns were brushed off with a bunch of excuses. The agent did not even call me to tell me that completion or exchange had occurred! This must be THE most useless agent ever.

TRULY AWFUL AND RUBBISH

we used this company (which became Sequence Housing) to manage two rental properties.the service provided to our tenants was awfulthe service provided to us, the landlords, was awfulall complaints to them where replied to with contempt and argumentative replies.we paid them to manage the subcontractors working our houses, they did not manage anything, we have been repeatedly over charged for very poor quality work.their statements of account are almost impossible to follow, we ended up always creating a spreadsheet and re-entering data into it to try and understand the current financial position.Three months after terminating their services, we are still owed money by them, and they still ignore our requests for information. No statements of account have been received for months, but, I know they have retained hundreds of pounds "on account" despite us no longer being a customer of theirs.even our lawyers (who only had to deal with them three times) think the service provided was sub-standard and unprofessional - "we can't understand their attitude and why they are so difficult to deal with"they constantly still email my father, (who is dead), and my brother, even though he has repeatedly told them he isn't involved with the houses and refuses to work with Sequence,.So, unhappy tenantsunhappy local council officersunhappy landlordsand - quite frankly none of the staff seem happy when you talk to them.and, nobody in the companies management team care at all that everybody hates the company and thinks they are rubbish.AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Nottingham WH Brown

i don't know where to start. One of their staff told me I had hurt his feelings after putting the phone down on me after they lost me 5k. I am taking this all the way through the complaints process. Best of all they valued my mums at 150k it fetched 169k way off the mark there. Purple bricks all the way for me much much cheaper I really hope no one has to go through what I have experienced with these expensive cowboys.

Terrible

Terrible. Left us without heating for six weeks. Then served us notice! A very worrying time this Christmas with having to find a new home, and with a disabled child to boot. In the middle of an omicron surge. Very stressful. Definitely do not use these awful agents to let your house or rent from. They do not reply to emails, texts anything and do not listen to reason.

These guys are absolute cowboys AVOID AT ALL COSTS

These guys are absolute cowboys! They didn't know ANYTHING about the house we were buying and outright ignored calls made to the office. The agent we were dealing with seemed to away be' out of the office' yet time and time again we called and caught them out! They are pathological liars and only see the end pound signs in sight, they give no support to anyone involved and quite honestly shouldn't be in business! If I ever hear their name being potentially used by friends or colleagues I will be advising them to GO ELSEWHERE, you don't get anything for your money! The whole team in Newmarket are extremely rude! Avoid AT ALL COSTS!!! TERRIBLE BUSINESS

Would give no stars if possible

Would give no stars if possible. We went to see Charlotte at the Kimberley branch, who at first we thought was really helpful. We have since learnt she wasn't at all... Credit checked us twice and told us it wouldn't have an impact when looking at other mortgages...We were later told by someone else it would. Also did it way too early on in the process when we hadn't even got a house. We received a decision in principle which lasted 60days. What if it had taken us longer to find a property? Was only interested in us getting the equity loan. Made us feel it was our only option...it wasn't.Didn't give us half the information we needed and infact made errors on the application forms she did such as '80000' instead of '8000' ...lack of attention to detail. Which later down the line could have resulted in major hold ups. Didn't once bother to see how we were getting on with house searches etc or keep in touch. Was very clearly just interested in the money for broker fees, which by the way are ridiculous!!Luckily we were recommended another mortgage advisor who has been absolutely fantastic and our mortgage has been approved. (A much better mortgage may I add than Charlotte got for us despite it being with the same lender) All in all I would steer clear of this branch, especially if you are a first time buyer like us.

AVOID AVOID shocking service insist on you accepting offer tell you your buyers in excellent position for quick sale and over 6 weeks later buyers still not got mortgage offer, tell you they will call you back they DONT 9/10 , said to manager I’m paying for them to a job I don’t expect to keep chasing them up and get told well you haven’t paid yet , really but I will be paying £4200.00 on completion. Recommend solicitors for you and all they do is ring you asking for extra payments that are not even mentioned in the small print ie my property has 2 land registry numbers they wanted an extra £200 because of this , you are paying the estate agents for basically nothing and all you get is stress stress and more stress

I'm a landlord of a flat managed by WHB. They recommended me moving up company as a tenant. It turned out that this is a caring company for housing antisocial behaviour people. The person living in my flat has torn it apart and damaged my neighbours flat too. This person breached the contract by smoking in my flat and also by their antisocial behaviour. WHB said, I have to hire a solicitor to evacuate him and we are not responsible! AVOID BY ANY MEANS! They are useless

W H Brown Nottingham - poor service, not recommended

Having viewed a property for sale with W H Brown I have asked for further information and was advised that the valuer - who was also the branch manager - would call me back. I have now been waiting for nearly two weeks for this call, having since called the branch three times to chase. Although the staff I spoke to were polite and said they had passed on my requests, he still has not responded. He could have at least left a message with his staff as my inquiry was very simple. This is a completely unacceptable level of service and I am bewildered as to why it is proving so difficult for them to answer a simple question about the property they are supposed to sell as quickly as possible. Consequently the seller is not getting a good service either, if potential buyers are being ignored.

BE WARNED

I rented a house through wh brown and have to say worst unproffesional people out i would advise anyone to avoid. Since xmas they took three months to mend a broken fence panel and had a call two weeks after i had left to say they would come and mend the broken shower i had reported in dec the previous year and reminded them about ever since till i left at end of april. The are now telling me i owe unpaid rent which is ironic when i paid 6 months upfront and left on the end of contract date. They are claimimg things are dusty and the lawn long when they have took two and a bit weeks to inspect the property since i left. And trying to claim unimaginable things. They just sum upto con artists and need to be avoided. As far as i am concerned they should be struck off from renting so others dont have to go through the stress they have unessasarily caused and maybe a court case to come. BE WARNED NOT TO USE
