Property Mismanagement

After moving in during the end of September, there were initially a whole host of issues with our flat rented through and managed by Chesterton's.As well as being generally run down and tired from the previous tenancy, such as limescale ridden shower heads, greasy oven hood (despite claims a ‘full professional clean’ has taken place), extremely worn carpets and excessively scuffed up walls.We initially raised the issues on 2/10 and were told on 5/10 that they would send someone round to investigate. A contractor then came 2 weeks after that - around 20/10.Since then, it has been more or less radio silence from the property management team.I just yesterday decided to move my wardrobe in my room from one side of the room to the other. Boy am I glad I did this as what I found is pictured below.I discovered what looks to be a botched disguising job - whereby a wardrobe was placed over existing mould, paint then applied to the exposed section above the wardrobe which was visible, and the rest left behind the wardrobe.In addition to this, the wardrobe itself started disintegrating, due in part I imagine to the damp but also the cheap nature of the furniture.I had been unknowingly living, sleeping, storing clothes, and breathing in a room with rancid fungal spores.Unfortunately, their property management service is either insufficient or lacks any real care, attention, or drive. The Landlord pays to have Chesterton's "manage" their asset and if I were them, I'd be extremely angry and upset that they have mismanaged it so poorly. Either that or the landlord was fully aware and advised them to neglect it - who knows.All that is certain, however, is that a little bit of care and or attention from a Chesterton's property manager wouldn't have gone amiss...Would actively avoid renting through Chesterton's, especially if the property is managed by them.

Don’t waste your time

The worst agency we have ever came across. Each time we call them, they tell us a property has already been let (a week ago, few days ago etc). When questioned how is that possible as the advert has only came out they respond it was let off the market- why put the add on the website then? Absolute waste of time, every single time.

Previous review was deleted/ worst agency for renewals

It seems my reveiw was deleted, so here I am writing it again, if this gets deleted know that Chestertons lie a lot of rating so they are willing to hide poor ratings.So I have been a long term let with Chestertons, it seems when it comes to renewal, the only thing that matters is landlords. When they onboarded me they did an excellent spotless service, however the same can’t be said about the extension. So much delays, stress and deliberate dirty tactics so you give up on renewing and instead you move elsewhere so the landlords/agency can increase rent. To give further perspective, they booked an end of tenancy audit date on the last date of my tenancy and I was told to pay for that date because according to their accounts I overstayed despite my contracts and rent ending on 27th.So they changed me for that too, then when it comes to deposit, they will do everything to delay, discourage you. So you give up. I’m really sick of this behaviour, very inappropriate and I DO NOT recommend renting as tenants with Chestertons teams.Either, they think they are smarter than everyone in the room by playing psychological moves or I’m really dumb. It’s definitely not me being dumb though.
