GoogleI rented a property through coastal for almost 2 years. I can honestly say they are the best letting agents I've ever dealt with in Brighton&Hove.
Alice (our assigned staff member) was friendly, helpful and quick in her responses.
As a company, coastal seem to be one of the few agencies out there who aren't solely after your money.
We had issues with the property during our stay (leaks, drain blockages etc) that were dealt with promptly and with no fuss or accusations it was our fault.
My only criticism, to balance the review out, is that they are not open on Sundays, so if something goes wrong or you need to speak to them, you have to wait until Monday morning.
Aside from that, I would 100% recommend them. Which is not something I ever thought I'd say about a letting agent!! :)

GoogleWe moved to Brighton having had an overwhelmingly negative few years with renting property.
As a result of this we were anxious to begin the process anew.
However our fears were soon allayed once we viewed and applied for a property through Coastal Management.
From the beginning, our relevant agent, Alice Kyle, was friendly, and diligent in working to make sure we were successful in our application.
Having lived in a building managed by Coastal, and specifically Alice for nearly a year now, I can confirm this positive experience has continued.
Any issues, no matter how big or small are resolved quickly, and effectively - a fact that has made our first year in a new town measurably easier.
To conclude, I can wholeheartedly recommend renting through Coastal, especially if Alice is responsible for your custom.

GoogleWent to see a 3 bedroom flat yesterday described as:
"beautifully presented three bedroom lower ground floor flat finished to a superb standard"
It could not have been further from the truth. There was mold and damp in almost every room with holes in cupboard doors. Any questions asked were greeted with 'You'll have to call the office, I just do viewings' which surprised us as for someone who just does viewings, he had no presentation or people skills.
This was a group viewing which none of the people who arrived knew about. So there was about 12 people waiting outside the property.
So Coastal Management, if you're lying and dodging now, what the hell are you like to sign up to?

GoogleAbsolutely terrible!
Took 6 weeks for us to get the tenancy agreement sent out, then the blamed us for the late payment of rent.
There were many things wrong with the flat including damp, which they ignored.
They gave my partner 6 days notice to move out when she was 3 months pregnant and has a 2 year old.
When a reference was sent off, they lied, saying the place was left a mess, when infact it was cleaner than when we moved in. And also said that my partner was not on the tenancy, which she was.
They also blamed the late payment on us, when they took longer than normal to get the tenancy to us.
Do not go with these unless you are desperate and like headaches and to get messed about.
If you need any evidence of this, please contact me.

GoogleVery rude and lazy staff. Very unhelpful because they can’t be bothered to do their job, they would rather do as least as possible to keep their jobs and not get sacked. Keyword is Lazy! Owner start by sacking Sasha, best thing for your company I promise you.

GoogleNice people but very money grabbing took as much deposit as possible left curtains to help next tenants if they need them as they were expensive and got charged 20 to move them
Was a good tenant always paid rent but at the last hurdle they even tried to change me to put new locks in because I gave them 1 set back but I was only given 1 set
Wouldn’t recommend as there is zero understanding for renters and no empathy I was burgled in the flat and they refused to change locks for free

GoogleI was a tenant for almost two years and wanted to say that I have had a very positive experience. Coastal Management facilitated a straightforward exit of our flat when it was time for us to move to London and I cannot stress enough how amazing Stephanie was in making sure that we were kept well informed at every step. Thanks again!

GoogleCalled regarding a flat on their website... my details were taken and they were supposed to come back to me with an answer to a question... I had to chase up. Then told the flat had gone. I asked them to let me know if anything similar came up. A couple of weeks later... the SAME flat came up! They had not attempted to contact me and didn't even have my details. Applied for the flat... a small issue with the application but they were unable to come up with a suitable resolve!! Not helpful at all!!

GoogleCoastal management is amazing they have left me alone since I started my tenancy which I appreciate. The only issue I have experienced is that my fire alarms have been going off constantly and silly o’clock in the morning multiple times a night I have spoken to the fire alarm people and coastal management and I don’t feel like anything is getting done to fix the issue. I personally believe this is unsafe, unreliable and leading me into a false sense of security. This is because due to them constantly going off if there happens to be a fire one day I won’t be alarmed when their is a fire as they are always going off when there is not a fire so I don’t see how that is safe when there is a fire no one will take any notice of the alarms. People have come out and told me that they are working this is not the issue I am aware they are working but they must be faulty to be setting off at 2/3 o’clock in the morning multiple times I just want help and support to be able to fix this issue

GoogleBrighton's finest real estate agency! Been renting a property in Brighton for the past two years through Coastal. Beth and her team are very professional and friendly and always made themselves available. I 100% recommend this agency.

GoogleScam, DO not give them any access to your money. Refuse to pay for building works, take responsibility for flats, communicate with tenants.
They have had to swap ownership of flats recently due to poor management and are not managing their finances. Do not trust!!

GoogleNot the worst letting agency in the world, but their communication skills could use some work. I frequently had people coming into my flat without being giving the legal 24 hour notice, especially towards the end of my time under them (part of why I left).
Loved the letting agent I had at the start of my contract, but unfortunately they left. Their replacement was definitely not as good, pretty cold and made me feel like a bother and an idiot any time I had to talk to them.

GoogleAmazing customer service from Olivia, in lettings. So professional and such a good assessment of personal needs. Didn't get to meet her in person but could meet Phil, who in 3minutes of the viewing could totally show how experienced he is. For the first time in the months I have been looking for a home I felt like this was a two way road and not someone doing me a favour. I'm sad to have to leave them due to a change of circumstances but will definitely be interested in renting a property if it is managed by Coastal management lettings. Thank you for showing me that not all state agents are just about profit.

GoogleThe letting team are a bit useless and completely wasted our time. I had asked both before and during a property viewing whether they would accept pets, and was told that this was completely fine by both the person in the office and the person who showed me the property. They even went through the details of explaining how this would incur a larger deposit.
A few days later I went to pay the holding deposit it dawned on them that would actually need to check if pets where ok with the landlord. Thanks Coastal Lettings for your dishonest service, getting my hopes up and wasting two of my afternoons.

GoogleThey let any builders/ workmen/ themselves, have access at any time without any notice. Once such a workman had left ALL my doors wide open and left the property. When I complained , I got evicted with 17 days notice! They make tenants sign away their rights to a legally relevant clause 21.(2 months notice in case of eviction) . The staff at coastal management never call back / react / do anything, when they say they will. They're just smiling and passing the buck. Nothing is taken seriously by this hideous establishment. Never again!!!

GoogleWe rented a property from Coastal for 4 years. Our experience of Coastal themselves was mostly positive, when I wanted a repair I contacted whoever was working on my flat and they would organise it, sometimes it took longer than I liked and I had to chase them but it did all get done. They would lobby for me with the landlord if they felt the repair was important, getting a radiator installed in our attic room etc even though it was expensive to do. The property itself was not very high quality, but that is down to the landlord, and we did pay a reduced rent which I assume was based on this. When we left we got a lot of support from Coastal, our entire deposit back and they also very helpfully looked after post for us.

GoogleI was a tenant with Coastal for nearly 4 years and have only ever had a positive experience in dealing with them. They left me alone unless I contacted them which I really appreciated, it felt like I was trusted to look after my home. The rent was reasonable and only went up a nominal amount during the tenancy. When things went wrong like the boiler broke down it was repaired the same or next day. I found the staff in the office to be brilliant, always attentive and courteous. I left the property because the landlord decided to sell but otherwise I'd have liked to have stayed long term. Leaving the property was made easy by the office staff who kept me informed and I received my deposit back in no time. Even after leaving the property the staff have been really helpful in ensuring I get any post from my old address. Would definitely use Coastal again and recommend.

GoogleI wouldn't recommend this place to anyone the people that work there are vile and are only nice to you until you sign your agreement for your tenancy .. they're so unhelpful and think that they have the right to charge you for anything and everything I've finally moved out and got the deposit and everything back but only not even half of the deposit back they keep as much as they can I won't be ever going with this estate agents again it took me a month and a half to get my deposit back and the money that was owed to me and will never be going to them again don't ever go with these !!!

GoogleHad a letter of eviction today. We have had constant youths coming inside the flats and leaving litter and putting holes in walls, which I complained about with photo evidence, along with other residents complaining this has been ongoing for over 6 months. Now today I have a letter saying I'm being evicted for my daughter causing anti social behaviour and littering!!!!! She does not go anywhere near these youths so do not understand where they have got this information. Anyway have lots of fellow residents who are going to verify this and will be making my phone call on Monday morning..... I will keep you updated!!! They will evict you as they please without any communication. AVOID!!! I'm not surprised they have so many negative feedbacks

GoogleI have rented from them twice, in 2010 and 2012-14 and I can't say i have shared the terrible experience others seem to have had with this company. Most of the agents I spoke to or emailed during my tenancies had been helpful. Got deposit back both times, minus a 'clearing fee' because I'd left a few items in the flat on my first tenancy. I found the moving in process hassle free and flats in satisfactory condition, as you'd expect from a rented bedsit Studio apartment. I had no problem dealing with them.
