Renters be aware check the flat a few days ago you move in

I was supposed to move in my flat today but Chiswick Dexters failed us.I was rang by the person who does the inventory check to get the keys. When we got there, we were shocked by the state of the flat that was left that we were told professionally cleaned and ready to move in.The state of the flat was;- There were lots of rubbish and stuff left in the property including cupboards, loft wardrobes and under the beds.- Wasn't event domestically cleaned let alone professionally- Dirty rug at reception room- Damaged Carpet in the Loft Bedroom- Newly Crack, and Chipped Paint in the Loft Bedroom- Floating shelves in the first floor bedroom- Broken Shelf in the Kitchen Cupboards- Bubbling veneer on a kitchen cabinet- Mouldy Bins- Button missing off a light dimmer switch- loose wooden ledge in the bathroom- Downstairs bedroom ceiling cracks- Cracked Tile in the kitchen splash backWe had to move our furniture to storage and stay at hotel at our costs until this is sorted out.AVOID if you can.

Always ask for Nadia, she’s a star.

Always ask for Nadia, words cannot describe her tenacity in securing your dream property. After having to deal with a bunch of bumbling agents for months on end and getting nowhere, dealing with Nadia was a breath of fresh air. She was on the ball from day 1, she literally got me, the perfect flat in 3 days of our first conversation. 10 min walk from bank station, unheard off. She’s absolutely brilliant. She even put in so much time after hours to make sure things run smoothly, she was unbelievably helpful, charismatic, and just genuinely stunning all round. Definitely recommend.

Waste of Time

I was looking for a flat to rent through Dexter. Even the agent has already got my account number for holding deposit and asked me to fill out an application, they still arrange viewings and turn the offer into a game of blind bidding. Unless you have endless time and unlimited budget, property search with Dexter is a waste if time.

The overall experience is not good

The overall experience of dealing with Dexters estate agents is not very pleasant. I was looking for a new apartment to rent and after viewing the property sent in my offer on the apartment. First of all, I do not understand why they need my card details straight away - even when there is no certainty about which of the offers the landlord would choose. In my experience, it is not needed when dealing with other estate agents, up until the point your offer is accepted. What is more, I was not very pleased to receive phone calls asking whether I would want to offer more money for the property and confirming whether my reply is indeed "my best and final offer". Thirdly, never hearing back from the agents as to the landlords decision and just having to guess that since no one had bothered reaching out it meant I did not get the apartment. Overall experience is quite poor. There is definitely a sense of them trying to get the most out of you and not bothering to provide good service.Now that I have guessed that my offer was not successful, I am even more unhappy about the fact that they still keep my card details for no reason whatsoever.

Bad Service

We got assigned to Sam after Hadrick gave us a favourable decision from the Lanlord and left the organisation, then it went downhill from there. Sam was hard to reach and would give conflicting information. We went through a thorough reference check. For about a month we went through the rigorous checks and according to Sam, all references checked out. He said it was due to finances. We gave more information and proof of adequate funds and offered to pay 3 to 6 months rent in advance. We were honest and forthright, then he came back to say that the Landlord said no. We don’t know what game they were playing but it would have been nice if Dexters had told us from the beginning that they wouldn’t give us instead of stringing us along for a month. I found Sam most unhelpful as he seemed to always not know or wasn't sure or he would quote the wrong figures which were quite demoralising as these are very serious issues. At first Landlord said no, then he said yes then he said no again. What really happened? We were treated so unfairly. This flat was for my elderly mum but this has caused her emotional turmoil. Piece of advice - be forthright from the beginning and no one would feel bad. It really shouldn’t have gone that far knowing it wouldn’t be favourable to us after being told 'yes' for one month. We had a credible guarantor whom you asked to produce another guarantor. What then is the point of getting a credible guarantor? Just be honest and don’t trick people. You gave us false hope and kept us waiting :(
