TrustpilotProfessional, efficient and friendly service
Really happy with the service from the team at the Chesham branch. Sale team were highly professional and we were always kept up to date with viewings and feedback. Brown and Merry secured the price we hoped to achieve and all the team were excellent from start to finish.

GoogleBrown and Merry are a fantastic team. We worked with nearly all of the residence sales team at one time or another but the two we mainly dealt with were Corron and Ollie - both have gone the extra mile, making viewings easier, keeping us informed every step of way. They have been friendly, approachable and helpful. Have no hesitation in giving 5* review. Highly recommend

GoogleBrown and Merry were awesome. They came through for me in the shortest space of time and were attentive to my needs.
Eliot and Stephen simplified the process. Meeting them, viewing and reviewing the property and signing the lease, took the space of a week.
Thank you for all the help. I feel both the needs of the tenants and the landlords were prioritized. A very seamless and informed process.
A job well done.

GoogleWe have recently purchased a property through Jake Golder and team at the Hemel Brown and Merry. Jake acted professionally, swiftly and was completely open and honest with us; without compromising his duty to his client, the vendor. I would definitely feel comfortable whether I was a vendor or purchaser in the hands of the Browne and Merry Team. During our search he suggested appropriate properties to look at and didn't waste our time. Once terms were agreed, their attention to detail was second to none - with Kevin and Jamie following through on items blocking progress - they ensured swift liaison with the vendor and even recommending other options to remedy the issues. This ensured we achieved the purchase by the 30th September stamp duty deadline.
We have now instructed Stephen Counden in their lettings team to let the property for us. He took time to thoroughly explain the process to us. He has taken on board our requirements and we are close to achieving a solid letting to a quality tenant. Thank you Browne and Merry team. You have two very happy customers! :)

GoogleI never thought I would find myself leaving a 5 star review for an estate agent, but these guys have earned it!
I employed Brown & Merry to sell my mothers estate. I mainly dealt with Jake Golder, one of the sales team, who was truly amazing! His polite, compassionate and friendly nature made the whole process a true delight. Jake kept me well informed and took time to explain the process and offer guidance when needed.
Not only did these guys get me above asking price for the property, they handed the transaction with decency and compassion surrounding the circumstances of the sale. Thank you so much Brown & Merry, I could not recommend you guys enough!

GoogleWeβve had such a positive experience with Brown and Merry Hemel Hempstead. Weβve had contact with many of the team (Jamie, Jake, Tom, Kevin & Sarah) and everyone has been so helpful, friendly and made the process of putting our house on the market and finding a buyer a smooth and successful one. Our main dealings have been with Jake and he has been great. He has dealt with all our house viewings professionally and communicated really detailed feedback which was really helpful and greatly appreciated. Jake and the team have been very personable and made us feel relaxed every step of the way.

Simply- I asked and they delivered! I needed a property ASAP and I asked for moving in date within less than 2 weeks, thinking it will be impossible to find property and move in so soon but they made it happen. The whole team seems lovely, however I must mention Stephen, who was my allocated estate agent, he was very helpful, delivered great customer service and made sure the whole process was stressless.

TrustpilotBrazen & Uncooth
I just received call from them regarding my property that is on the market, the "young adult" that called me told me my photos are terrible and the marketing is really bad. when asked why, there of course, wasn't much of an answer. I just find this totally brazen and un-cooth to put down small independent agencies with no substance behind your claims that "your marketing is better" when it quite frankly, is definitely not.
I purchased my property through Brown and Merry 5 years ago so they have my details on file.
When I bought it they had done several price reductions and the agent lied to me about the parking, so thanks, Even if I were to swap agents, it would not be to you.

TrustpilotShould be your first stop for buying a house
We were first time buyers, buying a house from Brown and Merry -Woburn Sands. Kerry, who now works at the Stony Stratford branch, was the agent dealing with the case and was an absolute star. Constantly chasing and working to get the sale across the line, and an absolute life saver for a couple of first time buyers who didn't have a clue what they're doing! Thank you!

TrustpilotBrown and Merry - poor management service
Brown and Merry (Stony Stratford branch) were paid to manage my first property-to-let and they have failed miserably in the first two years already.
The initial check-in report by their third party initially seemed okay but, it was lacking thoroughness, and the check-out report was far from accurate, costing me a potential deposit re-claim due to omissions within the reports. Despite the fact that I highlighted issues /concerns with the check out report at the time, Brown and Merry have continued to fail to address the issues. Whilst one staff member deals with the check in report, a different member is responsible for the check out.. and whilst the latter impacts the next check in report, the staff donβt seem to talk to each other or see how one personβs lack of input affects the other and both have shown lack of care in addressing the matter thatβs ended up costing me financially.
According to Alex Read, the inventory check list mustβve been okay β because it was carried out by a third partyβ so she refused to even look into my concerns, whilst Sarah Richardson has failed to reply to any of my emails for 3 months.
And whoever did the house inspections must have a filthy standard of living as they didnβt notice the mould in every room of the house.. result of the poor maintenance by the tenants, which Brown and Merryβs third party also failed to comment on in their reports. They also failed to comment /address the tenants on the items stolen so Iβm contemplating putting in a police report against my former tenantsβ¦
Also, Alex Read at Brown and Merry advised my new tenant that she would be free to redecorate my house as she pleased, which Alex advised without checking boundaries from me first as I had not given permissions for any change.
Thereβs a whole list of issues with these estate agents - the above doesnβt even touch the surface ..

GoogleIf you need an agency to sell your house with buyers which theyβll withdraw from the house purchase choose Brown and Merry. Now Iβve lost 600Β£ so far in solicitors money, the new house I supposed to purchase and a good 4.3% bank rate as I canβt transfer it back to my house, and the new rate since they gone up now will be 5.5%. Nobody will pay my money back and Iβll never use you again in my life.

TrustpilotBrown & Merry Wendover
I wouldn't recommend this branch. Our landlady decided to sell our house shortly after the tenancy began and this branch took over the sale. We were renting through the Tring branch so remember that we were Brown and Merry's clients for the duration of this review. We were made to feel like we were being obnoxious or difficult for not allowing them to do multiple viewings, taking up most of the day, for which we were expected to vacate the property and 'maybe sit in the car' as suggested by them. This happened in February and March, during lockdown when the virus was bad and when we weren't allowed to have friends or family in the house. They decided it was ok to invade our home with viewings because people would be wearing masks, although the government advice at the time was to not mix. At the time they would not let me into their office to speak to them when I asked because of... Covid. The government guidelines at the time were designed to stimulate the property market and not to protect tenants and we can all appreciate that covid isn't sentient and doesn't know the difference between these scenarios. We gave them a two hour window and said they could have two households per day in light the global pandemic that had been going on for a year by then. They weren't happy about this and tried to get us to change our minds despite knowing how uncomfortable we were. Some of the viewings were taking place in 2Β° weather and in the end we refused any further viewings. We filed a complaint against a member of staff for her attitude following a cancellation and she later phoned us to apologise for her comments.Β We expressed to them our anger at bring treated like this in pursuit of a quick sale and received an apology. I was quite surprised to learn that you can actually refuse viewings entirely. Given the situation I wish that I had taken that option as it seems now that would have been the only way to have any peace and quiet over the next 6 months. Following our complaint, all future viewings were stopped as it came to light that we hadn't actually been served a s21 notice and the house had to be taken off the market. It was a real mess. I was left a voicemail a few months later informing me that I had to vacate the property to allow for a mortgage survey. This appointment had been booked for the day of my brothers funeral when I had family staying and could easily have been avoided had somebody thought to ask me beforehand. It was rearranged but I refused to leave the property as I'm under no obligation to allow unsupervised strangers into the house I was paying to live in. Again I was made to feel like I was being unreasonable even after they admitted that I didn't actually have to leave. The inspection was carried out with me present and so the whole charade was pointless. There was no guilt over continuing to annoy us despite knowing that we were grieving and stressed to the hilt trying to find somewhere to live. After the house was sold we had to put up with the purchasers coming to the property, hanging around taking pictures of the house, with my daughter and other children playing outside and us being able to see them, several times a day, which also made the neighbours really uncomfortable. It was really disrespectful, frankly quite odd, and I could have prevented all of this by just refusing access for viewings. This sad and stressful experience continued for 6 months in total. For these reasons I would advise that tenants make themselves fully aware of their rights and how to exercise them when dealing with estate agents. Read the relevant legislation and then use it. We bought a house in Wendover through another local agent who in stark contrast were great, respectful to both us and to the occupiers of the property. The property was in a much better condition and for a better price. Throughout this, the Tring office that were managing our tenancy were also really good. They were really helpful, approachable and responsive.
