Appalling Condition and Zero Communication, Avoid This Agency

Our experience with the Shepherds Bush office has been incredibly frustrating. Upon moving into our flat, we were shocked to find it filthy and in a state of disrepair, despite assurances that it would be cleaned and the floor repaired as per our contract.The furniture is in terrible condition, with broken and unusable pieces. The decor is just as bad, with damp and dirty walls throughout the flat. This is far from the standard we were led to expect and has severely disrupted our daily lives.Despite requesting urgent repairs and replacements, nothing has been done, and our complaints have gone unanswered.Avoid this agency, they are unresponsive, and the property conditions are unacceptable.

Issues with marketing letters

EDIT: I have received a swift resolution to the below issue and so I have amended my review accordingly. Since reaching out to Dexters (which was lovely and helpful) I have since been bombarded by sales post. I asked to be removed from the list and yet the letters keep coming. It's roughly one a fortnight. The latest letter contains inaccurate information about my property being for sale which it is not, with an agent I've never spoken to and at a price its never been listed at. Having already tried to speak directly to them, I'm now feeling ignored and frustrated that I keep having my time wasted.

Terrible experience

The house was handed over to us in disastrous conditions regarding dirt, garbage left by the previous tenants that was never taken away, humidity on the walls, and a bad smell. After several emails completely ignored by the agency, we had to spend our own money to restore the premises to a livable condition (additional professional cleaning and purchase of a dehumidifier).During the rental period, we suffered a water leak that flooded the house. Dexter left us in these conditions for almost a month because, according to them, it was not their responsibility. When we left the house 2 months before the end of the contract out of desperation, the agency, at the end of the rental period, asked to withhold a huge amount from the deposit, accusing us of leaving the house dirty and damaged. Despite the physical and moral damages we suffered, we still cleaned the house before leaving. In conclusion, I highly recommend staying away from such people who, in addition to being unprofessional, unavailable when it comes to their responsibilities, and greedy, only care about the customer when they have to sell, abandoning them immediately after to face problems alone and only making themselves heard to collect payments.

Incompetence writ large

We were recommended to use an agent that had been taken over by Dexter's. Since engaging Dexter's Finchely to let our property we have had numerous issues namely; 35% of monthly payments have been incorrect, over charges on agreed management fees and unauthorized letting board.On every occasion it has taken us to highlight the errors before they were rectified despite repeated (hollow) assurances that the Company highly values it's relationships. Avoid these cowboys at all costs.

Overall happy to have completed on my property (buying). Dexters team (Avni and Penelope) were generally good to work with and demonstrated a professional approach and were supportive to get the deal done. I would caution anyone getting a flat to conduct thorough due diligence and work with the team to set the right expectations set to the sellers (especially if they are investors) and aid negotiates through evidence led by detailed surveyor report. In my case the building was outdated and so due diligence took longer than expected as the seller side / management company / seller lawyers were slow to provide the info and at the right level of detail. The Dexter team were key in relaying my concerns to the seller and helped to reduce the price based on the surveyor report findings to achieve a fairer price.
