I was a tenant with Rent-A-Home Property Management for over 10 years, and I truly loved my flat. Throughout my time there, I always felt heard and supported. Whenever any issues arose, which were thankfully rare, they were handled quickly and efficiently. The flat was well-maintained and in a great location, and over the years, it truly felt like home. When it came time to move out, the team was fair and transparent, and I was very happy to receive my full deposit back, especially helpful when settling into a new place. I’d like to sincerely thank everyone at Rent-A-Home for making my 10 and a half years there so comfortable. A special thank you to Callum, Fatma, and Mehmet for your kindness and professionalism. We had a good experience with Rent a Home, easy process to rent our studio which was of good standard and value. All repairs and maintenance at the property were well managed and with easy and efficient communication and responses. Lautaro was especially helpful in facilitating the early termination of our contract when we had to move out of the area at short notice for work reasons, and our protected deposit was refunded quickly. I would happily use them again.

Rent-A-Home? More like Rent-A-Dump. Would give -5000000 stars if possible. I have no idea where the good reviews are coming from. Steer clear of them if you value your own sanity and health. These people just want to take your money and give you less than nothing in return (I acknowledge that is quite common practice of rental agencies in London). Specifically, please do yourself a favour and don’t rent in 178-180 Homerton High St if you don’t want to constantly catch hypothermia. The entire building has a major insulation problem. Forget about taking a shower because it’s 8°C in the bathroom - in the middle of winter. The property I rented was lacklustre, to say the least. Yes, you can’t expect a newly renovated flat for the amount advertised, but the price charged was still in no way justified. It was also left to me dirty. However, all of this could be overlooked if it wasn’t for the fact that the living conditions in this flat don’t meet basic requirements and thus the state it was rented out in was ILLEGAL: The minimum heating standard for the private rental sector (PRS) is at least 18°C in bedrooms and 21°C in living rooms, when the temperature outside is 1°C. Ever since moving in, the temperatures within the flat didn’t even come close to this standard: Despite having the heater turned on at full force for 13 hours (!!) the temperature within the living room only went up as far as 13°C. Any heat generated seeps out immediately and it’s essentially as if you’re sitting outside, just surrounded by walls. Heating costs are not included in the rent, mind you. I have complained to the agency several times and stressed how urgent the situation was (it’s the middle of winter, temperatures outside are below the freezing point). I was not taken seriously and they claimed that “[they] have been managing this property including [this] flat for almost 30 years, and have never received such a complaint from any previous tenant.” Really?? No one has ever complained about the obvious lack of insulation and the tiny heater? What country do you live in? La-la-land? I have evidence to suggest otherwise (temperature measurements in different spots in the flat over several weeks). Besides, I did speak to the neighbours and they confirmed that they were having the exact same issues I did. I was also not given ANY rent reductions for the period of time without proper heating (i.e., the entire rental period of 2 months), even though I am legally entitled to that. Thankfully, I was allowed to be released from the contract early and leave the property. That is about the only positive thing I can say about this agency from hell. That and that they did provide a second heater, but only after I called and emailed them several times a day. Unfortunately, it didn’t change anything as it was still freezing inside and the additional heater was too small (it’s one of those portable oil heaters). They also suddenly started to need to make repairs to the cracked window and wanted to double-glaze them as well, once it had already been settled that I am moving out. Why couldn’t they wait a week until after I moved out? No idea. Especially since they never cared about me being warm before. This added unnecessary stress as I had to also deal with signing a new contract and moving. On the other hand, there’s breach of bare minimum living conditions which - and I can’t stress this enough - is illegal, embarrassing unprofessionalism (they couldn’t spell my last name on the contract correctly despite having my passport copy. It has 7 letters) and arrogant conduct (trying to gaslight you into thinking you’re at fault). No, Rent-A-Home, not I am the problem, YOU are. Shame on you. I’ll never deal with this so-called "agency" again. Sadly, I’m sure they will get away with renting out the apartment in its current state and there is someone out there who will gladly rent that dump. If you are reading this, I hope it’s not you.

We have rented a property from Rent-a-Home in Stokey for about 10 months. Our overall experience was positive, Oljay has been very friendly and helpful from the beginning. We had a few problems with the flat, like any other flat in London really, some heater, boiler, and washing machine faults throughout the months but they act promptly and always solved it without any charge. They also changed our mattresses for brand new ones at no extra cost and they organised delivery and pick up of the old ones which was very handy. When we left they paid back the deposit straight away. I don’t see any reason not to recommend them as an agency. Good luck on your flat hunting!

Their approach is really refreshing. From our first viewing, Oljay was friendly and honest with the level of interest for the flat and what we needed to do to secure the property. They never created pressure or tired to create false demand for the property like most other London estate agents. That fact that they are a smaller agency definitely working in their favour as it creates a friendly working relationship. I appreciated the fact that you put down a cleaning deposit at the start of the tenancy meaning you know you wont be stung with ridiculous costs when moving out. Any problems raised with the property were dealt with quickly and efficiently, (new cooker/hob 1 day after reporting fault). If you are looking for a property to rent or buy and Rent a Home are involved, you are in good hands. Eddy
