I would highly recommend McMillan Estate agents. My husband and I have found them to be very professional and friendly during the recent sale of our house and for many years before. Many years ago we bought our first home from this company and, more recently we have viewed other properties that they are selling. We have got to know many of the staff who have, on many occasions, gone out of their way to help and advise us. Laura McM has been a frequent source of support, advising us on minor adjustments to our home to help with the value and sale but we have also got to know so many others such as Jim, Janice and Cormac who have helped in our search to find our next home. McMillan Estate Agents were selling a house for an elderly relative who is in a residential care home and I was acting on her behalf. Due to this practical difficulty and the restrictions in place because of Covid, it was far from being a straightforward sale. But I have to say that from the initial meeting, the quality of service was first class. Excellent communication, keeping us up to date with all details about viewings, offers and practical issues really helped. Also liaising with other parties such as the solicitor, surveyor etc, it was very reassuring to be able to hand the whole process over to the experts knowing that all the paperwork and arrangements were being taken care of. We have had extensive engagement with a number of estate agents over the past five years and can say that McMillan, led by Barrie in our case, were exceptional in terms of their professionalism, communication and expertise. As with many house sales, there are those agents who will offer quick sales at a lower price rather than support the seller to achieve best price. We explained our position clearly to McMillan, who took our interests on board. The valuation process was smooth and accurate (another estate agent suggested a starting price almost £15,000 lower). The property visits were prompt and communication to us about the interest in the property and feedback from viewers was timely and constructive. Nearer completion, we ran into issues with the timely completion of a survey as well and McMillan worked tirelessly to ensure that this did not hamper the completion of sale, taking into account the Christmas and New Year break. We would have no hesitation in recommending McMillan to other sellers and would encourage anyone in this situation to ensure that, whomever your choice, the estate agent has sufficient resource and expertise to secure your sale. In our case, we were reassured of their service (front end and back end) and the level of service exceeded that which we had expected.
