Persistent unwanted contact and gazumping

Over the last few months, I’ve been contacted around five times and repeatedly encouraged to make an offer on a property I viewed some time ago in Thrapston. While I was interested initially, the persistent follow-up came across as overly pushy and, if anything, put me off pursuing it further. I was also uncomfortable with what appeared to be an encouragement to gazump another buyer. At one point, I was told that someone had just made an offer that day and contacted to see whether I wanted to submit a higher one. Rather than getting involved in a bidding situation after another buyer had already committed, I wished them the best of luck and declined. Overall, the sales approach felt overly aggressive and left a negative impression.

Worst experience ever (April, October 2025). From the start, I was treated with a complete lack of empathy and professionalism by Tawnee and Ella. The initial viewing set the tone; Ella’s approach was "take it or leave it," and her attire was entirely unprofessional for a business setting. ​The process was chaotic and disorganized. Critical documents that should have been shared prior to my deposit were only handed over on the day of signing. Most distressingly, despite paying my full rent upfront, I was evicted after only six months without a fair hearing. This was sparked by a neighbor’s complaints about the sound of my children, an issue handled with clear bias and discrimination by the property manager, Danielle. ​Danielle seems to prioritize administrative tasks over actual management or fair conflict resolution. It is exactly this kind of discriminatory behavior that new legislation was designed to prevent. This has been a traumatic experience for my family, and I would not wish this treatment on anyone.

I was a first time buyer, buying a house not in a chain and it took 4 months to complete after constant chasing from me! Such slow service, mainly due to the poor attention to detail from the sellers using Sharman Quinney's in house conveyancers. Time after time the contracts had to be amended due to careless errors such as spelling mistakes, wrong names on contract etc. Very frustrating! There was no communication to apologise for the countless delays, the estate agents lost interest in helping me once I had my offer accepted. Would never recommend - avoid.

Megan started off as our letting agent but left the company before we signed into the house. I was amazed by her professionalism and the fact that she continued answering our questions up until her last day, to make sure we had everything we needed to sign into the house (holidays and covid made things take a little longer than usual). Jay is everything you need/want in a letting agent. We rang to book a viewing and from the get go Jay was super helpful. He booked us in the very next day and within 24 hours we had our application in for a house. We have been searching for a home since January and had lots of issues with other agencies, we felt like a burden to them. Completely different atmosphere with Jay, we felt like we were his priority. He kept in touch and rang us regularly to let us know if any updates had been made to getting us moved in. We never had to ‘chase’ him for information.
