Communication is non existant

Marika never answers phones or emails. Day of so called completion she was absent. Never told us she was she wasn't in the office. Completion day didn't happen even tho our removal van was packed and ready to go. One of her colleagues told us it wasn't happening approx 4pm. All my belongings had to go in storage at short notice and accrued storage and redelivery fees of approx £1000!!! Removal company couldn't be delivered until the Wednesday after. Having to sleep on an air bed in an empty house for 5 days. Of course nothing happens over the weekend. No one called to tell us what was happening Monday morning. I called to find out. She didn't answer phone through out the day. My estate agent couldnt get hold of her neither could my vendors estate agent. 5pm I received a call from my vendors estate agent saying I could collect the keys. I had to contact Gilson Grey (Marika didnt answer) to see if I could actually collect my keys. Marika didn't pay my mortgage off immediately therefore another mortgage payment taken out (£1200) for no reason. Absolutely shocking experience from start to finish. Communication non existent. Still wanted paying on full. Will never recommend.

Priyanka at the Glasgow office was excellent

My partner & I purchased our first home with Gilson Gray a few weeks ago. Initially our experience was similar to other reviews and we had problems getting in contact with our solicitor and concerns over the lack of updates for many days at a time. We were starting to worry we had made the wrong decision until we found out our solicitor had to take time off and our case was picked up by Priyanka at the Glasgow office. Priyanka was extremely professional, responsive & explained things to us in a way that made sense making the process less daunting as it had previously seemed. We particularly appreciated the fact she invited us in to meet face to face and have us the opportunity to ask all the questions we had. We would thoroughly recommend her & are very happy with our new home. Thank you Priyanka!

Find another Conveyancer!

I cannot fathom how truly awful the service from Conveyancing team is at Gilson Gray. They simply ignore the customer, the sellers solicitor and the estate agent constantly. Waiting to complete and the seller is ready to pull out because the communication is so non-existent. I’ll be taking this up with the Legal Ombudsman. Righting this to deter other potential conveyancing customers, because Gilsonite Gray couldnt care any less.

I needed a new home purchase turned around in 3 weeks, and Gilson Gray were very prompt with everything required. Tracy McAlpine was a great help in particular. 4 stars as there were some admin issues (documents somehow got lost, that I had to re-do, and I had to re-do an online property questionnaire as the system had a fault), but excellent experience apart from that!

Lisa Jackson dealt with the sale of our property and with our two purchases concurrently. Lisa was approachable and friendly and always available via phone/email to answer any queries and guide us through each step of the process. Lisa’s professionalism throughout the process was impeccable, ensuring that each step of the process was met in a thorough and timely manner, following up with other parties involved when they were causing any delays as well as keeping us informed every step of the way. Lisa went above and beyond to ensure that the sale and purchases were dealt with promptly which in total was only 8 weeks from accepting the offer on our property/having offers accepted on two properties, to moving in. Since 2019, we have used the Lincoln based law firm for the conveyancing of our current and past four properties (we backed out of two part-way) and have to say Sally McBride and her assistants provided an exceptional service. Gilson Grey undertook all aspects of the sale of my property in an extremely professional manner. At the start, the process and prices were clearly explained and I received very useful literature demonstrating the various stages. Arran Lovell, who I originally met and who organised the valuation and marketing of the property was extremely helpful and professional. Going above and beyond to organise various tradespeople for me to undertake improvements to the property. All the administration was handled very efficiently and quickly. When it came to handling the actual sale, Kelly Jagger, who negotiated on my behalf did an excellent job and kept me informed and consulted me at every stage. Eventually she secured a very good offer for me. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the Service provided by Gilson Gray. Excellent value for money.

Utterly appalled

Utterly appalled - at the bill - the por service and lack of attention to detail. Was charged £468 plus vat just for initial chat and onboarding - 2 line abrupt email charged at £46.80 plus vat . They missed so much - whole attachments requesting key information for example. Even got my name wrong on documents. Have moved to another who quoted upfront for the task in hand.

Avoid if you would like a fast turn around

If you would like fast turn around for house completion avoid Gilson Gray and find a smaller more local firm. This company operates nation wide for many estate agents and takes on too many clients. We were first time buyers purchasing an empty house (no chain) and the whole process took nearly 6 months. It was extremely difficult to get in contact with our solicitor and her team, and every time we did get in contact they said they could only work for clients in date order (so we were at the bottom of their list basically). We were recommended to go with Gilson Gray from our estate agents purely because of the commission they would get from it. Avoid this and do more research into finding a better firm.
