Persimmon were great when they were taking our money (I say great - everything was generally hit with a brick wall as our house was 85% built when we put our deposit down... however after negotiating we got most of the things we wanted - at a cost to us obviously).
Once we moved the site manager couldn’t do enough for us, made out every snag would be dealt with, and we hadn’t to worry. Yes there was snag after snag after snag and appreciate with new builds this will happen. We almost felt like we were being over the top, and let a few things go. But this was meant to be our dream home and we had paid a lot of money to be there. I think a good way to look at it is - if in your old house you changed the windows, or the carpets, or had a bathroom fitted, and there was any issue with these things, the issue would be addressed/fixed/replaced so that it was brand new, undamaged, fully functioning. So why in a new build should you feel pressured to put up with these things and just accept them?
It seemed like nothing was too much trouble... until the first 6 weeks was over and it was bonus time after we left 5 star feedback... then that was it... and on to customer care we went.
Rude, unhelpful and unwilling... the tone in which you are spoken to over the phone and via email is appalling. We were basically told that if we hadn’t reported issues immediately there was nothing they could do. So for anyone buying a persimmon home, check every single inch of your home, inside and out, and write EVERYTHING down on your snag list - no matter how little you may think it is - otherwise you’ll regret not doing so later. Take photos, lots of them, even if you think you don’t need to, and date stamp them as evidence...
They just try and fob you off in the hope that you’ll get bored and stop asking for things to be rectified in what was supposed to be your perfect home.
Unfortunately for us the location is absolutely beautiful and perfect so we had to go with persimmon. Speaking with other residents, they too have experienced poor service like us.
It’s stressful, upsetting, frustrating... they really do not care about you or your property! Whilst we love the location and love our house, we do not love the way you are treated and the way issues you have along the way are addressed. A lot of the issues could have been rectified, but the way in which you are spoken to and fobbed off is awful, there is no customer care what so ever.
I would not recommend anyone buy from them. Read the reviews and the newspaper articles, they are accurate.

GoogleOverpriced council house estate built from the cheapest materials you could possibly buy , looks like persimmon staff have been logging in to give it 4 star reviews, but none of them seem like human beings, no other reviews online etc, these houses are at least 50% overpriced, your paying a premium just to be reasonably close to Durham, if these houses were on an estate outside the cities borders they would be lucky to make 100k a piece
