Wasn’t a straight forward purchase due to things out of everyone’s control but we got there in the end, Emma and the team where amazing from start to finish. I was completely new to buy-to-let (hadn't been my first choice but had to do it) and hadn't a clue what to do. Ben Charles have been absolutely fantastic. They have guided me through every step of the process and provided amazing support. Every person I have dealt with has been very helpful, courteous and friendly at all times and were always willing to 'go the extra mile' to help. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Excellent service! ** Update, May 2025 ** I have used Ben Charles again to help me sell my property and, once again, they were absolutely brilliant. Can't rate Ben Charles Estate Agents highly enough - surely more than 5 stars are warranted! I have bought a property through them, have sold 3 properties using their services and have rented out 3 properties using BC as the letting agent. I find them completely proactive across the full range of services so regardless whether they have been dealing with me as buyer, seller or landlord I have been kept up to date on progress. They happily keep messages flowing between buyer / seller / solicitors so when progress slows as it inevitably does when paperwork falls into the hands of solicitors then BC will ensure that the sales process doesn't lose momentum. In terms of using BC as a letting agent, I have had numerous tenants over the years and have always been happy with the level of diligence shown in securing the right tenants, and on the occasional instance when during the tenancy damage has been caused (as is inevitable when renting for many years) they've been absolutely spot on in dealing with tenants to ensure that damage has been repaired, or appropriate negotiations managed to everyone's satisfaction. Been an absolute pleasure working with Ben, Emma, Allyson, Alison & Gill over the last 10 years.

Ben Charles have managed my rental property for several years and they have always provided me with a professional and efficient service. Their proactive management has removed the administrative burden of dealing with short term tenants. I also used Ben Charles recently to sell my house and have been even more impressed. They listened to my requirements and kept me updated at all times. I was most impressed with the ‘added value’ that they provided, Emma went the extra mile to ensure the transaction was completed in a timely manner. For example, the buyers didn’t fully understand the process involved when purchasing a home. Emma talked them through the process and then checked on the progress once a week to ensure no delays, physically assisting both parties in the sale and getting us to legal completion in a timely fashion.

We have been able to hire Ben Charles' services for 3 times now and we are still so impressed by their service. First of all, everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. Secondly, they have competitive pricing, Thirdly, you are not just a number at their office; over the years we have gotten to know the staff personally and they always make time for you. Fourthly, the are extremely professional and hands-on. Never do you have to chase them up, as they are very 'on the ball' and give you regular updates. Personally, I know we have not been easy clients: we have high standards, are consciences and like to keep control, however never have we been made to feel that this was too much. Emma was usually are point of contact and we cannot give her enough praise. Thank you all at Ben Charles for your fantastic service!

From the very beginning, Alison gave professional and helpful advice, went out of her way to help me have work done in preparation for sale, and was unfailingly kind and good-humoured throughout. Are reasonably efficient, however we were charged cleaning fees for dusting on leaving our rented property when we were advised when we arrived we only had to leave it as clean as what we found it. After looking at photos when we moved in and when we left the property, I am confident it was left cleaner. There was no professional cleaning work done for us before we moved in and given its state, I would imagine the previous tenant will have been charged for this. Interesting to see if we get a receipt or photos of the cleaning work we are having to pay for when completed to see exactly what our fee has been spent on... They were also slow at fixing our French doors when we had a problem, we had to chase the office about after no response from our initial phone call, but doors were fixed promptly after a prospective new tenant was due a viewing.
