GoogleAfter my father passed away, I needed to sell his house and we chose to use Neil from Walker and Sharpe to act on our behalf. Both Neil and Gillian were exceptional! Their support and advice was spot on throughout and when things lower down the chain got complicated, they were able to explain everything and offer solutions. I am so grateful for their help and would absolutely recommend them highly to others! Many thanks, Jenny

GoogleWe sold our property privately and were recommended to use Joshua Ward for the conveyancing. This was the best recommendation ever! Joshua kept us up to date all the time, responded quickly to phone calls and emails and made the whole experience much more pleasant than expected. We highly recommend his services, Walker & Sharpe are fortunate to have him. Also the reception staff were very helpful! Well done to you all for restoring our faith in the legal world.

GoogleFrom start to finish of the selling of our old home and subsequent purchase of our new home, Neil Webster has been absolutely fantastic.
Even with our situation being slightly more complicated than a usual sale & purchse, Neil has communicated everything clearly & in an extremly timely manner - which reduced any stress we should have had to almost non existent.
Personally, I would HIGHLY recommend Walker and Sharpe (specifically Mr Neil Webster) for primarily land purchases & anything else you would require.

GoogleThis firm has been sat on my partners and families inheritance for nearly a month. The house sale was completed weeks ago.
I’ve heard this company uses clients money to do short term investments and it appears this is true so they can make the most interest possible with their clients money and keep it before issuing what the family is due.
All correspondence is sent second class by them. There is absolutely no interest in them getting the matter completed in a timely fashion for their customer.

GoogleHaving just moved back to Scotland after living overseas for many years, and having had an offer accepted on a house, I was in need of a solicitor. Being unfamiliar with the area I searched online and found Walker and Sharpe, and specifically Joshua. I chose Joshua because of all the excellent google reviews and I can say that they were not wrong! Joshua has been absolutely brilliant, from explaining everything about the system of house buying in Scotland to dealing with everything very efficiently. He certainly made a potentially very stressful situation very easy. I cannot recommend Joshua, or indeed Walker and Sharpe highly enough.

GoogleI am extremely disappointed with Walker & Sharpe. After instructing them in January 2023, two years passed with no meaningful progress on my divorce case. Despite constant email correspondence, I am now in a worse position than when I started, with significant legal costs but no results.
The delays have severely impacted my mental health and damaged my credit score, leaving me unable to secure a mortgage or move forward with my life. I have been left with a bill of around £20,000 for zero tangible progress.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this firm.

GoogleI have very recently completed on the sale of my house and onward purchase of my new house. Thanks to Joshua (solicitor with Walker and Sharpe) the whole process was made less stressful than it might have been.
Joshua helpfully guided me through each step in the process and kept me fully informed throughout.
I cannot recommend Joshua highly enough.

GoogleUPDATE:
In response to the feedback from WS, we will have to agree to disagree on some things. For example, you didn’t give me a reason why the case was dropped. You just dropped it after I complained about the communication issues. Secondly there were a small number of emails from yourselves, but as I said it was the questions that never got answered that concerned me. This isn’t just my opinion, I have since gone over all this with someone who works in this field and although they can’t represent me in Scotland,, they agreed that I have not received the support that one would expect. The fact that you mention in your response that the motion to adjourn went unopposed by me, highlights the fact that I didn’t even know I could oppose it or if there would have been any benefit to that. How can you say the person who was there on the day in court would have given me the best possible support if I wasn’t even advised about that? There is no way on earth that I would have been able to put my best defence forward at trial with someone I just met and who really didn’t know much about my case at all. So I’m not going to get into this any further on here. This isn’t the place, but in response to your comment about being given sufficient time to find someone else, the trial is next month and I have been turned down by anyone I’ve asked. I will therefore be representing myself and like I stated previously I will be taking this further in due course. Not happy at all.
I have recently used Walker and Sharpe for a case in Dumfries. I am very unhappy with the service received for a number of reasons. The communication (or lack of) right from the start was poor. No answers to messages left at the office. Promises of being called back that never happened. Questions in emails not answered. For me, I’m dealing with a really important and potentially life changing trial, but feeling like I had not been able to build up my strongest defence. When I mentioned this I was told not to worry as the solicitor has a lot of experience. That may well be the case, but I felt totally unprepared and suffered badly with anxiety, because I knew the case was winnable, but didn’t feel I had been listened to at all. To make matters worse, I spoke to the solicitor 3 days before the trial and was assured that things would be okay on the day. As it turns out the solicitor didn’t turn up on the day as he was on annual leave. He didn’t mention that 3 days earlier. Apparently his colleague was going to take the case, but she was held up on another, so I ended up with someone from another firm who I didn’t know, and really didn’t know anything about my case or my defence. The moment I met him, he seemed more concerned with getting me to plead guilty, despite the fact that the main policeman in the case has been struck off for gross misconduct and is potentially looking at a prison sentence. He really didn’t seem interested in listening to me and I felt sick to the stomach and helpless. Fortunately the issue with the policeman me at that the prosecution adjourned the case which meant that I didn’t have to stand trial with someone who I felt wasn’t up to speed on the case. Following this farce, I wrote to my solicitor and complained that I had several concerns about communication issues and the fact he did not show up at court. His response was to simply defend himself which ironically consisted of a long email that seemed way more detailed than any of the other communications I had received. He then told me he was withdrawing from the case and this has left me in a very difficult position with the fact that the trial will be coming up soon and I’ve already been turned down by legal aid solicitors who don’t have the time at the moment. I have been told by some people that the solicitor I have used is a good one, but unfortunately that’s not been my experience. Maybe he would have defended me well on the day, but not if he doesn’t show up! I will now be making a complaint to the Scottish Legal Board. Very unhappy about this.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We genuinely regret that your experience with our Firm did not meet the expectations set by us or other clients. We have communicated the reasons for our withdrawal from your case via email and have addressed the issues you've raised, aiming to provide clarity on the matter.
We can see from our file that a number of detailed and lengthy email exchanges took place. We acknowledge the frustration caused by some unanswered phone calls, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience. We do believe, however, that your case was fully and properly prepared for trial even though we needed to engage a local agent at short notice, a situation that ideally warranted more advance notice. We understand that the case was adjourned on a Crown motion which was unopposed by you.
We believe that we have given you plenty of time from notifying you of our withdrawal to instruct a new agent to deal with your case, and to ensure your papers and legal aid can be transferred to them. It is unfortunate that we required to withdraw from the case, but from time to time, it is necessary for a Solicitor to do so. It is not appropriate that we publicly explain why that decision was made.
We hope that you are able to instruct a fresh agent in this case and as explained in our email to you, we are happy to make that transition as smooth as possible and assist where we can. We are happy to provide you with details of local agents who may be able to help you. If you are unable to secure representation from a firm the PDSO will undoubtedly be able to help you. We wish you the very best with your case, and in the future. W&S

GoogleI recently instructed Neil Webster of Walker and Sharpe to sollicit the purchase of my property. I have used several sollicitors for varying reasons in the past and have been disappointed by some. This was not the case with Neil. In fact he has certainly the been the most direct and helpful sollicitor I have worked with. In part, through communicating any and all necessary information quickly and in clear language for me to understand the process and what to expect and do at each stage. Neil has been extremely on the ball at every stage of the purchase and has made communication with sellers agents before I have even had to ask when issues have arisen. Neil has been knowledgeable throughout and managed several issues well with suggestions of options to help speed up the process when things were lagging on the sellers side. Neil has been friendly and approachable to work with and has followed up even after conclusion of the sale. All in all, I have been extremely satisfied with his reliable service and would absolutely use him before any other in future if required. Thank you.

Would definitely recommend them for the conveyance work of a house sale .

GoogleWe approached Walker & Sharpe to ask for assistance applying for a joint guardianship for our son who is turning 16 but lacks capacity to make decisions around his own welfare. I had previously heard of them and Shannon specifically when she did a talk for the Parent Inclusion Network on guardianship. From the outset, what I feared would be a difficult process, was made so much easier by Walker and Sharpe, and specifically Shannon who worked on our case. The whole process was straightforward, professional, efficient, friendly, and we felt able to approach her at any point with questions or to clarify things. I have already recommended Walker & Sharpe and Shannon to friends who may need to go down the same route as us, and generally would highly recommend them. Thank you.

GoogleTried to view a property over 2 days, however due to staff training on one day and the other excuse was they only had 2 members of staff available, so couldn't carry out the viewing. I feel sorry for the folk that have there home on the market with them, as they have potentially missed a sale (cash buyers). Poor show guys. They had no flexibility at all.

Hi Louise,
We’re sorry to hear you felt disappointed with your experience. We always do our best to accommodate viewings as quickly as possible, but on this occasion we had limited staff availability due to pre-arranged training and short-notice absences.
When you called, we tried to offer alternative times for the viewing, and even offered a same-day appointment if you could reach Dumfries before our training session started. Unfortunately, this wasn’t possible on your side, and we completely understand that timing can be difficult when you’re travelling.
We do appreciate your feedback and will keep it in mind as we continue to balance property viewings with essential staff training and client commitments.
Kind regards,
Walker & Sharpe

YellTwo Years, No Results, £20,000 Bill
I instructed Walker & Sharpe in January 2023 regarding a divorce matter. After almost two years, there was no measurable progress in resolving the case. While there was ongoing email correspondence, no clear outcomes or advancement resulted from this. During this period, delays and unresolved matters affected my financial position, including my credit score, which has limited my ability to obtain a mortgage and move forward following my divorce. I received invoices totalling approximately £20,000, despite the absence of any completed divorce progress. Based on this experience, I would not choose to use this firm again.
