TrustpilotHarassed on my own house!!!!
Terrible at fixing any issues, unless it revolves around them getting money. Just today at the Derby branch I heard loud lashings at my bedroom door and inaudible shouting (I was in my en suite shower). Got to the door and was greeted by Jon from Derby Martin and co who proceeded to shout and scream at me and tell me it was unacceptable for me to have a small pet caged bird (which I cleared up with them at the beginning of my tenancy, and they said was fine) and threatened to throw my personal belongings away that were kept in the kitchen. He then proceeded to order me down stairs for a "chat" despite me having nothing but a towel on, and shampoo still unwashed out in my hair!! I feel my basic right to personal space was challenged and the fact I was ordered to do something despite being a 23 year old women, but a patronising 60 something man. I am utterly furious, ans actually broke down in tears after he told me he would be charging me £2000 a month, instead of £450, as the other 3 tenants had moved out. He accused me of being messy when I just simply refuse to clean up the mess the other ex housemates left, and then said my washing that was drying on the radiators was also contributing to the mess. I am so angry I am strongly considering calling 101 for charges of harassment!!!! Please do not use this company, they are the absolute worst!

TrustpilotLettings Manager St. Margarets
I was dealing with the lettings manager at St. Margarets. My wife enquired on a letting and was told that the place was under offer. Subsequently we were told that this offer was not taken up and we could view. This happened on Friday 05.07.2019. We also viewed other properties, but set our sights on the property offered by Martin and Co. We made an offer immediately of full asking price. I then discussed the offer with him that Friday who assured me that our offer was good and that we could stop our search. Stating he would come back to us the Monday morning. We did just that. We made contact with him the Monday for updates, but were told to be patient and that he was sure of a positive answer pending. Only to hear on the Tuesday 09.07.2019 afternoon that he had submitted another persons offer the Monday afternoon without letting us know. The other person's offer was accepted and my family wasted valuable time and money with this unprofessional individual. I did lay a complaint with the company. Will see if they respond. For now, and based on what I am reading on Trust Pilot, I would not recommend this company at all.

TrustpilotHonestly the worst company I’ve ever…
Honestly the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. They are so difficult to get hold of and when you do manage to they fob you off with excuses. They had my deposit since 2013 and NEVER paid it to a tenancy deposit scheme. Then when I moved estate agents they didn’t send it over to them. I had to give them all the information I had proving they were in the wrong and they still blamed the other two companies that they had never received the money. After 6 weeks of daily calls and emails I finally managed to get my money back from them after threatening legal action. Like they all say below avoid at all costs and if you have the misfortune of being with them check you have the correct paperwork for your deposit or I doubt you will get a penny back.

TrustpilotJust wondering if the 'co' in Martin…
Just wondering if the 'co' in Martin and Co actually stands for completely useless! I was sent an email from a letting agent, asking if I was available to view a property on a certain day at a certain time. I replied saying yes this was fine. I didn't hear anything back, so I sent a further TWO emails and did not receive any replies. My partner and I still turned up for the viewing, assuming it was going ahead. We were stood outside for 15 minutes when I noticed they had an office nearby. I went in and spoke to a lady, who was actually rather polite. I showed the emails I had received from the letting agent and she asked me to take a seat as he had gone to collect the keys for a different viewing. When the letting agent returned, he asked us if he 'could help' and I explained who I was, the emails etc. He then had the audacity to explain that we weren't booked in for a viewing. I responded by explaining that I had emailed him twice and he has not replied at all. The letting agent was then really rude and quite defensive, saying he hadn't confirmed the booking and the current tenants need notice. I said I know this, I'm not stupid and said he should be checking his emails at it is his responsibility! The letting agent responded by saying I should've rang and throughout this, had his head down the whole time. I completely lost it at this point and explained I have a full time job and I cannot just step out to be calling estate agents! He was so rude and completely ignorant. My partner and I feel like he was embarrassed by the situation and we hope he realises what an absolute moron he has been. After reading the other reviews on here, it sounds as if me and my other half have had a lucky escape and have been fortunate enough to not be letting from this useless estate agents. For the love of God, please do not waste your time even BOOKING A VIEWING. Inconsiderate, foul time wasters.

TrustpilotWhich there was less than 1 star...
Honestly if there was something less than 1 star, that's what they truly deserve. Requested to move into a property in July and the estate agents told us it HAD to be June, so we reluctantly accepted. Due to move on the 1st of June however we didnt get to the property until the 17th because we were told there was work and cleaning to be done on the house. When we arrive to the house after being told it's in a condition we can live in, we see that both the fridge and oven in the place were so mouldy it was a health hazard, the garden overgrown and where plants have obviously been neglected and have died have attracted many bugs and left the garden in a state where you cant even walk through it. Even though Martin & Co were well aware of these issues they still allowed the move to happen and we are still fighting to get the garden sorted. We called earlier for an update where the property manager accused me of lying about something my partner had said in regards to the garden, blaming me for their lack of organisation. Never have I ever come across someone so unprofessional in my life. Would NEVER reccomend to anyone after the way we have been treated.

TrustpilotDreadful...
I tried to set up a viewing for a rental property in Manchester. When I eventually got hold of them, which was difficult as they don't respond to emails and seldom answer the phone, they refused to show me a property available for the end of July in mid June, even though I don't live in Manchester and was making a special trip to see it. The justification was that they are struggling to let properties available immediately and so can't look that far (6 weeks!) ahead. With customer service like these reviews indicate it's no surprise they are struggling to find tenants. I'd advise both prospective tenants and landlords to avoid.

I would even give them 1 star if I am honest! Leave you with out heating for 3 months in winter with a child and apparently they did everything possible to limit the inconvenience...3 months without heating I feel that’s more than an inconvenience! When the landlord wanted to sell the property we had to do over 15 viewings at very short notice sometimes they would just show up. At the end of the tenancy they have now kept part of our bond £120 to clean an oven! We left item behind as it was a massive rush to move out and we asked to collect these the next day but they have refused, they are difficult, rude and greedy and I would stay away from using them. What am i paying you for David? And while were talking about payments David accepts part payments from my tenant "on my behalf"! Great only half the rent will be collected this month! But sure as hell David still get his full cut !

TrustpilotAbove board but....
The apartment we rented was as described and shown. Not ideal but nonetheless we chose to rent it for 6 months so can't blame Martin's for that. Reasonable service regarding viewing, acceptance and welcome. Initial issues either never or late at being resolved, poor mid term response to the more serious issues including damp and wall fungus in winter and, to add insult to injury, no direct reply regarding return of deposit other than minor spurious charges which I didn't contest in order to escape from their unprofessional clutches.

TrustpilotUnprofessional and rude!!
Booked a viewing for a Saturday and we got a text message a couple of days before saying they wouldn’t be able to access the property that Saturday so could we reschedule it! We proceeded to re-book it for the following Saturday. A few days before this Saturday we received a message to say apologies but the property has already been let and we have to cancel the viewing. So unprofessional and rude throughout the process of contacting them to book a viewing!

I cannot name the branch because a crime has been committed but without further evidence there is nothing that can be done. My partner and I are in the process of moving out of a rented property and left the house two days ago with all windows closed and secure. We both checked this. I popped to the house yesterday to retrieve something and noticed a window open. Another window in the house had a latch left in a strange position. My partner confirmed that he had not touched the windows. We have strong reason to believe a sneaky viewing has taken place in our absence but without further evidence we cannot report anything to the police, as what has been committed is a criminal offence. People beware!

TrustpilotAbsolutely terrible - avoid
Terribly customer service from day 1. The apartment had numerous faults and problems that were not solved throughout the tenancy. They then charged for all of the faults and “extra” made up problems. My full deposit of £750 was taken - and they also demand I pay and additional £243 for the pleasure of their horrible service. Worst experience in my life.In particular the two female staff Kelly and Tracy and the most incompetent and lazy women that’ll you’ll ever have to deal with. Very sour.

TrustpilotVery poor service. Avoid at all costs.
We have been renting for many years and never have we come across an estate agent this poor.We as tenants have always had such pride in treating the house our like our own home. Keeping it immaculate at all times and taking good care of the property. Being with Martin and Co, they made us feel horrendous and really made us feel like we shouldn’t be there and that we were just ‘renting’. We had our usual quarterly visits with feedback such as; you need to clean the shower glass window and make sure you keep it up or; please do not leave your clothes drying on an air dryer as this can bring in mould. I used to clean vacated properties for a living and to be told what to do in the property was disgusting. Customer service at an all time low not to mention how rude the MD of the office was to us on many occasions. We lost most of our deposit when we decided to no longer stay at the property. We couldn’t face being signed with them for longer than we needed. All in all, very rude and poor service throughout.

TrustpilotBEWARE TENANTS!!!!
BEWARE TENANTS!!!!I rented a house from martin and co in Leicester. I paid them the deposit and fees by debit card in their office on Narborough road.I moved into the property and the boiler didn't work, I emailed martin and co s it was summer that it wasn't major but would need looking at before the cold weather came. I had 3 young children. Martin and co responded by giving me 2 mobile phone numbers and an email address and then informed me they were TENANT FINDERS ONLY!!! and were not responsible for maintenance. I would never have rented a property had this been made clear and not hidden in the fine print of tenancy where it said 'contact the land lord direct for maintenance' I had basically paid them £300 to put photos on rightmove n sign paperwork. I was left with 3 small children, 2 mobile phones which didn't ever get answered and an email address which was again ignored. By oct my house was freezing and I decided to move out. The land lord sent round unregistered gas man who created a gas leak!!! He was swearing in front of my children it was disgusting. I had to PAY BRITISH GAS OUT OF NY OWN MONEY to come round, the boiler was condemned and unsafe. I have proof of all this from gas safe register and british gas. I REPORTED MARTIN AND CO AND THE VANISHING LANDLORD TO THE GAS SAFE REGISTER. I HAVE IT IN WRITINGThe landlord has now reported me to the council for HIS unoccupied property ( whichb he has rented out again as I saw the advert by martin and co), thinking Im going to be liable. Think again! Martin and co had given me written evidence that they had cancelled me tenancy and returned the keysRang the landlord on the scrappy mobile number martin and co fobbed me off with, to be told it wasn't her, I recognised her voice.Martin and co are quick to take money and charge fees but then rescind all responsibilityWhen I said I would review on trust pilot he said if you lie we will take it down. NONE OF THIS IS FALSE, the only ones who mislead are Martin And Co. They do not make it clear they are not managing properties cos they are so desperate to get fees. The next stop for me is my MP. Martin and co are not to be trusted, they are rude and unhelpful when you complain. Do not rent from them and if you do make sure you confirm what you are paying the fees for

TrustpilotBeware Landlords!!!
Beware Landlords!!!I pay Martin and co a fairly large monthly fee to fully manage my property. If i get any maintenance issues that I want them to resolve on my behalf they use there MAC maintenance contractor’s (MAC is Martin and co) They simply sub contract the work to local tradesmen and add a large percentage on the bill before passing the invoice onto me! They are not acting in my best interest. I already pay a fully managed fee! If I’m not happy to use Rip off MAC maintenance then I have to arrange the repairs myself as I am currently doing with a boiler in Nottingham. I may as well manage the property myself.I have been misled and wasn’t made aware they charge a fee for all repairs they arrange on my behalf on top of the monthly fee I pay for management of the property. If I ask the office staff, they are not transparent about fees!Definitely wouldn’t recommend from a landlord prospective as they are out to rip you off at any opportunity.

TrustpilotUseless
Staff at the Guisborough office simply don’t care. I signed a 6 month lease over the winter only for the heating to constantly break, sometimes took several days to fix which is unacceptable. Radiator in the kitchen never worked. Eventually I had to purchase electric heaters at my own cost. Was told I would be reimbursed but never saw it. At the end of the lease they tried to convince me to sign a new lease by offering me my money I was owed but made it clear I would only get it if I signed. Joke of a company would give 0 stars if I could. Avoid at all costs.

I have been renting a property in dover for over 3 years through martin and co my daughter's bedroom is full of damp the landlord bought paint and a bleach spray round when the property was being rented through halhams but since m&c have taken over it the last 3 years i have been mugged off even had the letting agent Richard Horton say that the damp is due to cooking in the kitchen REALLY. He also got my property confused with another property saying that all work would be carried out by Jan 25th. this company is a bunch of cowboys. I am pursuing this further. as my daughter is constantly ill they are quick enough to take rent money but you have to fight and fight to get anything done and I am still fighting
