TrustpilotSCAMMERS
SCAMMERS! They force you to transfer £220 to reserve property that you're planning to rent, calling every 30 minutes asking if you made a transfer and forcing you to do it faster. However, after you do that, they say that you're not applicable for the property and no refund you. No property, No refund, No support. A TRUE LEGAL SCAMMING SYSTEM. PLS AVOID AND REPORT THEM

YellWide boy nasties - Avoid!
Appalling service and avoid for house sales - provided them with key when away but with prior warning - instead used it as licence to walk into house when they pleased; failed to liaise with my estranged husband as instructed and had our gas cut off during works in the road so when returned from holiday no hot water or heating; ignored instruction not have a viewing on one particular day because of family arrangement - ignored; told third parties that we were on holiday and house was empty so placing our house at risk; when we complained quite rightly about the above Connells stopped promoting our property and when we paid for the EPC failed to forward to us despite chasing repeatedly.

GoogleWe tried to buy a property with Connells Crawley branch. After putting in an offer of the asking price, Connells tried to force us into taking a mortgage with them, which we refused. Connells then prevented our attending their office to show our financial viability, which we subsequently emailed to them. We were told the seller accepted our offer, we just needed to prove financial viability. The day before the appointment Connells called to say the seller wanted to sell to their cousin and we had to wait five days to see if the cousin could get a mortgage. We suspected this was a LIE and contacted the seller who confirmed their cousin was not buying the property. The seller called Connells who confirmed they LIED to us. Another offer was made and accepted 13 days after our formal offer, which after speaking to the seller we realise was not put forward in the appropriate manner. Do not trust Connells, they are only interested in selling mortgages and will tell devious lies to do so. Sellers beware, Connells may be less than truthful to persuade you to accept an offer just because the buyer is getting their mortgage.

YellConnells mortgage or no sale! Extreme Lying Caught Out
I just want to share my shocking experience with the estate agents Connells Crawley branch. Basically, myself and my husband viewed a property and put in an offer of the asking price. We were told by Connells that this was the price the seller wanted, they would not take a lower offer and were not interested in asking for a higher offer as they did not want to mess around, they really wanted a quick sale. Connells pressured us to try to talk to their in house financial advisor to obtain a mortgage from Connells; we refused and were told we could “lose the house” if we did not attend. We said that we were happy with our own financial advisor. We had various telephone calls with Connells that day, in which the estate agent we were dealing with (initials AP) said he really wanted us to get the house and wished us all the best but we HAD to attend and speak to Connells Mortgage advisor. Connells again called and confirmed that the seller was happy to accept our offer, and refuse any more viewings on the property, but we needed to attend the office to have our financial information verified. My husband was at work all week, so offered to take a day off work to attend Connells to do so. Connells said they didn’t have any appointments for a week although when they thought we would take a mortgage with them we could go in the next day or whenever we were in the area. I spoke to the in house financial advisor over the telephone and asked for his email address so I could send over all the documents needed to confirm our financial viability, so the seller could be assured of our viability to proceed with the purchase. I sent this email, and was happy that the seller would be provided with the required reassurance.Four days later the property we were supposedly buying was newly listed on the Connells website for sale, I was assured this was a formality and nothing untoward was going on.The day before we were due to attend Connells to finalise the paper work AP called me to inform me that a cousin of the seller wanted to purchase the house and the seller wanted to sell to their cousin and not to us. AP specifically said he could not proceed with selling the house to us under the seller’s wishes. I was informed that the cousin would be attending Connells 5 days later to see if they could get a mortgage with them, if not then we could buy the property. I suspected this was a lie and asked AP if he was delaying my purchase so someone taking a mortgage with Connells could buy the property, to which he replied “not at all”. My husband spoke to the manager of Connells Crawley (initials JS) who confirmed what AP had told me even adding a few extra details (cousin wanted the house as a buy to let). Due to the fact I suspected Connells were lying to me, with a bit of internet research I managed to find out the name and number of the seller who we contacted and confirmed Connells had LIED, their cousin was not interested in buying the property and did not exist! The seller contacted Connells the next day and spoke to JS who admitted he had lied and did not know why he lied! Although, when AP called us he said he got the property mixed up with another one! It just so happened that there was another offer made 13 days after our initial formal offer, which the buyer accepted in the end, I suspect with the full backing of Connells. I am glad we caught Connells out, and were able to confront them (albeit over the telephone). I just want to warn anyone who is thinking of buying a property with Connells, please be aware of their bad practices. Connells obviously give incentives to estate agents to sell Connells mortgages, and it seemed that was the only way possible to buy a house Connells were selling, was to obtain a Connells mortgage. Connells are run by a mortgage company with only 15 mortgag

TrustpilotAppalling Service
We rented a property through Connells and from start to finish the customer service provided has been absolutely appalling. This business shouldn't be allowed to run the way it is, it very much feels like they are doing fraudulent things in the background. Would not recommend them to anyone not even my worst enemy.

TrustpilotDisgusting customer service
Completely unpolite staff, they forced me to provide my personal details just to view a property and they forced me to call instead of using email although I believe we are in the XXI century. I was also ensured my email was not going to be used for marketing and guess.... next day I had tons of Colonnells emails in my inbox. Awful experience. Glad the house was awful, too as I didn't have to deal with them anymore.

TrustpilotI booked a viewing of a 1 bed flat in …
I booked a viewing of a 1 bed flat in Fishponds, Bristol. After receiving no confirmation I called the office on the day to confirm, they had me on the system and said they would send me he details and see me at the viewing. When no one turned up after 10 minutes I checked zoopla to find a contact phone number to see the property was listed as no longer available. Really poor customer service, waste of time.

TrustpilotThe worst Agents ever!
The worst Agents ever!Try to avoid them as they are totally unprofessional and will try to charge you some ridiculous amounts of money. We decided to let our property through them going for the full management and after 3 mouths we ended up without any payment received, as they were saying the money are bouncing back! At the moment going through endless complaints procedure! What a joke this company is ! Bunch of unprofessional people! AVOID AVOID AVOID

If you have common sense DO NOT USE! We went to view a property, the agent was rude and pre-judged our situation, which they knew nothing about. Have no customer or communication skills… Connells are completely and utterly degrading and disrespectful. How they even get custom, I do not understand! If there was a -5 I would have put that..

TrustpilotAvoid if you can
The valuer seemed to be a good person to chat but I would question his professional judgement. He undervalued ( compared to THE well respected local agents) the house without any justification. It didn't affect the end result as I was just switching the lender. Would have lost the property had I been a buyer.Yes he works for lenders for a measly fee but where was his professional judgement?

TrustpilotPoaching attempt?
Despite my being registered with another local agency Connells, Watford branch, called me out of the blue, to ask if they could send people to view my property. This despite the fact that I have no contract or other relationship with them.

TrustpilotAbsolutely terrible service, a waste of money
How am I giving them money to 'manage' a property when they do little to no work. I wish I had the confidence to charge for a service and then did absolutely nothing. Kudos

TrustpilotUnbelievably bad experience
Unbelievably bad experience. We have been let down massively multiple times. We had major health and safety issues, unusable toilets for 2 months and we only heard promises. We had to contact Private housing at the city council to get them to do something. Unreliable would be a compliment for them. Do not use these people, seriously.I can keep going with how many problems we had but there is no point. Their ratings say it all.

Renting my first property with them, was told it would be finished for the day I got my keys, 5 weeks later I’m still waiting for my cupboard doors to be fired, my shower to be fixed and the nail sticking out of my banister to be removed. They’re quick enough to take the rent out of my account although they put me in arrears as they never took my account number for future payments.

GoogleWe are trying to buy a property in West Sussex and arranged a viewing through Connells, Crawley. They were exceptionably professional and prompt through out the process.
Alexandra young, looked after us, extremely polite and quick in responding to queries.
Of all the agents in the area, we rate Connells at the top for the service they provided.

TrustpilotOvercharged. Watch Out!
Update: my landlord no longer uses Connells for any of his properties as they have been uselessI rented a property via the Exeter branch and was overcharged by £150 on the day I was trying to move in. The agent was rude, patronising and verging on threatening. I paid as I had no other option. When I made an official complaint I was refunded into my account with no apology. Extraordinarily expensive for very poor service.

TrustpilotBeware hidden charges
Reasonably easy ride but no real surprise as a first time buyer and a chain free seller. Very annoyed at extra charges that were on back of the very small print in the contract, which were not pointed out and we assumed that buying a fixed fee service would be exactly that!

TrustpilotJoke of a company
This company are an absolute joke...rude surveyor came and walked in with the smallest of introductions, spent 10 minutes in the house and walked out with the parting words, “the bank will be in touch”. Undervalued the property based on 2 RICS reports we paid to have over the past 18 months and now affecting our mortgage. Do not use. Apparently their valuations are “Law”. Laughable..! Can I do a minus review..?

TrustpilotI would not recommend Connells to anyone
The attitude of the surveyor was bordering on rude. The report contained some items that were inapplicable to this house, a badly researched, unnecessary and potentially hugely expensive recommendation regarding the roof, many items that were difficult to associate with the interior or exterior of this house and some recommendations that were simply mendacious. This company added to the stress of selling our family home of 25 years and added complication and anger to the experience.
