TrustpilotMortgage Services are Horrendous, don't purchase lifetime membership scheme!!
Purchased a property through Connells two years ago and felt obliged to use their in-house services to be in the best position to be chosen by the vendor as being in the best position to purchase as many offers were made on an open day. We used the mortgage services and paid £599.00 for the lifetime membership scheme for free lifetime advise and use of the mortgage brokers and mortgage business unit. We did a remortgage in October last year, signed and did everything we needed to do only to find that Connells had not been replying to Virgin Money emails and the remortgage wasn't finalised as the broker and mortgage business unit also provided our wrong details. We were not informed by Connells, the broker we were using was on long term sick leave and no one was monitoring his emails. The manager of the brokers in our area was less than helpful, she didn't appoint another broker to take over for nearly a month, bearing in mind we had now gone onto a variable rate at 7.5%, and we had also paid the £599.00 for access to brokers. The manager would not return calls even when asked to contact us by the customer service team, there was a data breach were were not notified of where all our personal details had been given to a completely random company that had nothing to do with us. Our experience has been appalling and extremely stressful having to undertake all the admin chashing ourselves and finding we had been lied to on a number of occasions. We will see what comes of the initial complaint we made in due course, be warned!!

I had a worse experience with Connells. I got a call for viewing in 1 hour, and they wanted to confirm in 2 hours. They wanted me to pay the security deposit on the same day by calling and following up with me several times. Finally, once the security deposit was paid, they started background checks. They didn't even ring my employer to verify my employment status but they claim, as they tried contacting him several times. An unethical company tries to take your security deposit with worse service. Their strategy seems to be rushing you, giving you no time to think and get money from you.

Absolute waste of space, wouldn't even give them one star. Had an offer accepted on the condition that we used their mortgage services. We were told that we were under no obligation to use them. We called the morning after explaining that we would be using our own advisor, to which they replied that another person has offered to buy the property. We know that this is completely untrue. When calling the estate agents to discuss the situation, I was cut off mid-phone call. Absolutely atrocious, please don't ever give your time to them as a vendor and definitely not as someone trying to buy a property. Completely gutted and feel utterly deceived and bullied.

I was about to write this comment and realised people said the same. God knows how they are renting or selling properties. I called 50 times, different times and different days and no one ever picks up the phone. Estate agents are a joke in this country!Keep your dirty houses then, I will take my money elsewhere.

Awful letting agent!! We've had no end of problems with the house we live in and have lived in for the past 4 years.Firstly the kitchen cupboard fell off the hinges with everything falling on top of me, when we have a 2 year old because the right hinges weren't used. Then we've had mould in the property that's been reported for months along with a built in wardrobe they can never get in contact with the landlady, who also sends out her partner to every repair ever needing doing when he's only a qualified electrician there's so many legal things that they violate.Now our downstairs radiators aren't working but upstairs is, along with already reporting that we don't get hot water through it comes through Luke warm.Back onto them again tomorrow!!!!

All I can say is WOW!!! Carl Montgomery (from the Swindon North branch) helped me with my mortgage and what a dream he was to deal with. What we thought would be a nightmare when our original house fell through, was dealt with by Carl in such a professional and incredible manner. He made me and my girlfriend feel so at ease during the whole ordeal. I would advise anyone getting a mortgage to use Carl, he constantly kept us in the know and made sure we was happy throughout. People often say buying a house is stressful and all I can say is those people have not met Carl!!! Thanks again Carl!!

Valuation was organised by my lender on a property I'm hoping to buy - cost me £500 and they came back and said the valuer couldn't value it! The lender was not happy with them so we've had to go with another valuer now!avoid if you can!

TrustpilotThey allow viewings only if you take their mortgage
Very unprofessional behavior. They allow you to view properties with them only if you accept to take the mortgage with their own mortgage provider. Today 19 Jan 2023, I had two viewings with them in the afternoon. They said that I didn't attend their mortgage interview at their office so they canceled my appointments after I went all the way to the location. Also, the mortgage appointment was not confirmed via email or SMS, it was just communicated over a phone conversation that I may need to go to their office (which one - who knows?) and attend an in-person mortgage appointment. Stay away from them, they are the worst.

Chose to go with connells to sell my mother's property, a decision that I would make again in a flash, they priced it realistically and the write up, photos and videos were accurate. Connells were very professional and kept us updated from start to finish, they dealt with all quieres promptly. Mark, lavinia and libby your all stars. Absolutely disgraceful employers! I've never worked for such a deceitful company! The AREA MANAGER promised a pay rise and company after 3 months employment, branch was performing poorly at best. So I did the manager job on a consultants salary for 4 months, asked for my review to receive what was promised! Lo and behold, the area manager wouldn't even put it to her manager as she knew full well they were false promises and were never going to be granted! I left on this basis as the salaries are poor at best, now 6 months down the line they're threatening to take me to court if I don't pay them a commission guarantee back! Absolutely disgraceful company, half the staff are well underpaid and want to leave but are obviously trapped by this clause in the agreement! Connells, Bridgfords, Countrywide all under the same umbrella and should be ashamed at how they treat employees. I was warned not to work for them but I went against that warning, being lured in with false hopes of promotion. Do not accept employment here!

I would not recommend selling your property with this estate agent. We had a very poor experience wanting to genuinely purchase a property they were marketing... We had to push for our offer to be submitted to the sellers after declaring we didn't need to use their mortgage services. We had an improved offer accepted by the sellers, we were then pitched their conveying service, but we kindly declined, we were expecting an sales memorandum but instead the offer was discarded for reasons unknown and their phone just rings out.. We decided to move on and had a offer accepted on another property with another agent and the process was seamless

Moving is a stressful enough experience without having your agent tell you at three months in that your buyer has pulled out, putting your property back on the market, re-selling it for more, then telling you it was another property nearby that the original buyer actually pulled out of. Don't even go there!

The only reason we chose Connells was because they said they will charge 1% fee from the selling price. I signed the contract with them for this but they took the 1% from the “supposed” selling price which was considerably higher, than the actual price we sold! It also took them almost 2 years to sell! When I asked for the refund, they just delayed the answer & didn’t reply to emails until it was too late, as completion happened.

If there less than one star definitely i would put. I haven’t seen such a horrible estate agency like them. When i moved to the property their employee make me sign the contract and promised me that he was going to give the kay at the second day but he didn’t answer my calls because was Sunday and the big problem my stuff were in the street because I thought he would give the kay another surprise that the previous tent where i suppose to move was still there so I beg him to leave my stuff in the garden and i went back to my previous property and slept on the floor because I had no furniture the second day he gave me the kay I found the property full of rubbish and many problems there then they keep waiting until 3 months to fixed them. My second problem since last year i have neighbour on the top and they do business (illegal) at their property so they make a lot of noise and they don’t care I have recorded the noise and sent them to Connells they reply after 50 days and said please contact the management 😂 i am stuck at this horrible property because I am student and landlords don’t accept STUDENT I am living in a nightmare everyday because of them I hope government close their offices i am crying everyday i feel so stress

I have done my research to find out on record that via Hurst, jnp and others in the vicinity have all had customers complain about the exact same thing done to them. Needless to say I'm coming to close you down. All the way to the top!.

Avoid at all costs if you value your mental health!! Connells failed in their legal duty to inform us fully about our buyers position to proceed which led us to accept an offer from someone with a complicated chain, leading to stressful delays. They failed to keep us informed on progress and when contacted for an update, calls were frequently not returned. The service was so poor, our buyer regularly contacted us to find out if we knew what was happening with their chain! Despite making a formal complaint outlining their numerous failings, Connells would not accept any of their shortcomings. A disaster from beginning to end. Should anyone be unfortunate enough to use this company, the best advice is if you speak to them follow the conversation up with an email to ensure a written record of everything they say or do because their staff have difficulty in recalling anything discussed verbally.

When I saw all the other thousands of negative reviews about this abysmal company, I was relieved to know I was not the only one! They are beyond corrupt, an absolute joke. Unprofessional, rude, frauds and liars. I have had so many issues with them its unbelievable. They lied to Scottish Power when we moved in our rented property and we ended up having a warrant against us for S.P to remove our meter, S.P then stated they have taken the property and estate agents to court for failure to provide them with an update of tenancy and paying the arrears. When I then told S.P that we are with Connells estate agents he LAUGHED and said word for word "sorry I'm not laughing at you I promise I'm just laughing because so many tenants have named Connells, theyre known for this, If I was you I'd sue them and give them a world of sh**. This is not your debt its theirs." When I then informed Connells, there response was absolutely disgusting. I warn everyone to STAY AWAY from this agency no matter what. And so many of my colleagues, friends of friends, and neighbours have said the same - word of mouth is crucial. As are the thousands of other complaints about this AWFUL corrupt disgusting agency.

I thought Initially that Connells is right place for letting, but after letting they continously disturbed us with Sales and Letting related before 3 months of the contract, even though we say we are not available pushing us that we need to be in home as they already booked without taking prior confirmation. After contract they send us that it is worst report and saying that we damaged whole property which is already damaged in pieces that's why no one buy or let. One of the Representative said that we are staying in the property more than the occupants and said that we are like labours lot of rude talk and defaming others. Just talking in a way that they are staying in the home everyday and observing when we are in contract. I am least bother about Tenancy deposit because i can donate for this beggars.

This is one of the worst letting companies you can deal with. They are frauds, liars and unprofessional. They lied to me when renting my property, kept the money paid by the tenants for a month in their accounts to gain profit on it and kept lying to me about releasing the money. I called them several times to cancel the management and they kept lying about it and manipulating to keep taking the management fees and not to return any penny. They have no manners and respond after days and days of emailing them. No cross communication and they asking same questions.
