Thank you so much Holly at Stockton Heath's Bridgefords

I had a wonderful tour with Holly from Bridgeford's Stockton Heath. I didn't feel rushed and she was very attentive, patient with all my questions and built a quick rapport with me. She always answered the phone and emails professionally and gave thorough and informative replies, always keeping me in the loop as my application for my new rental progressed through all the stages. I highly recommend her. Steph xxx

The worst out there

The worst out there, put us through so much drama, very stressful and mentally draining, their mortgage broker is absolutely useless, 4 months later we were declined, absolute waste of time, waste of energy, they just didn't want us to buy it for some reason, maybe because we are a different skin colour to them! Stay away from the burnley branch, good lord, how do they get away with this bs.

I recently inquired about renting a property in Durham through Bridgfords, with the help of Carrie Rutherford, as the letting agent. Carrie was extremely helpful, efficient and professional throughout the process, sorting everything quickly and without hassle. Carrie was also friendly and supportive, assisting me with all my many questions, and making the overall experience very positive and stress-free. I could not recommend them more!

Bridgefords are the worst estate agents…

Bridgefords are the worst estate agents i have ever come across, i am so glad i did not decide to sell my house with them! They never answer the calls, constantly leaving voicemails, very rarely they call you back! I viewed a property with them a week or so ago & no follow up phone call the following day, I wanted to make an offer , left several voicemails & nothing! Please avoid Bridgefords at all costs. They are the worst estate agents i have ever come across. Please stay away!

Where do I even begin, well here goes. AVOID at all costs, terrible service by Bridgefords and the landlords of 7, Neville terrace. A warning to potential future tenants of buyers, do your research into this property and these people. At first all seemed well, then eventually issues started to arise from mould, fault electrics, broken floor tiles, dodgy gas pipes, a broken roof, decade old radiators that really did not work, cracks in ceilings, issues with the downstairs living room such as broken wood pannels within the floor. For months and months we tried calling, reporting etc. and every repair felt as if we had to go fight in the battle of stalingrad. eventually after the albert einsteins of bridgefords and the landlord decided to fix the roof some how they managed to screw that up too. So another long wait and battle with both parties and their grand wisdom they decided to we could leave any time.... knowing the current housing crisis in Durham from what I gather they knew how bad it was and took advantage. So we ended up stuck in the property for a good few months, I have had numerous surveyors round and contractors some even complaining that they have to fight for their invoices to be honored. Eventually after leaving on the 16th of July they had the cheek to send an email saying Me and my partner are in rent arrears. after battling to get that cleared up. As of the 24th of August they still have not returned our deposit. But yet they still have time to try sell 7, Neville Terrace. Just one final warning, please get a full survey top to bottom as we did because they will tell you the issues we got told. Stay away very well away.

ignored, patronised and falsely accused

3 months into our tenancy we've experience the following with Bridgfords/Countrywide/Entwistle Green (no, I have no idea why they all take turns to email me or why they have different names if they're basically all the same company): * being told I had incorrectly logged repair reports online, despite following the printed handout we were given upon arrival to the letter. when I explained this, all I was met with was "the name of the person who gave you this information". I didn't really care about that, I just wanted the repairs done. This employee then ghosted us and never messaged back. *several issues we reported in our first week STILL have not been addressed, it's a joke. *it took around a month of emails and phone calls with various other employees just to get somebody to sort our broken boiler and thermostat out; we had no heating all that time and this was when it was still freezing every day. *we were instructed to order a bin from the local council and pay for the bin ourselves, then minus that fee from our next rent payment. despite being told to do this, Countrywide/Bridgfords sent us a threatening email saying we were in arrears. I replied back saying this was rubbish, only to be ignored for two days. I only got a reply when I sent a follow up saying I would message literally every day until they backed off and apologised. Funnily enough, 5 minutes later, they finally replied. *it for some reason took a month for them to remove the 'for rent' sign outside. again, as soon as I complained, it magically disappeared shortly after. *I had to fix a broken kitchen drawer myself within the first month myself because they refused to acknowledge the issue which had been present since day 1. *customer service is woefully slow. if you want to communicate via email, you get whinged at and pushed towards phone calls, which you then get dumped onto hold for and have patchy reception anyway. *during those phone calls, I'd be told 'this will happen, the landlord is sorting this', but nothing ever happens. *we've had 3 - soon to be 4 - visits from a contractor with regards to our bath/shower. how it takes this many call outs to repair one tap is beyond me. *this latest instance of the contractor coming around has now broken the bath tap, no hot water, the seal is leaking, he's caused some damage to the kitchen and even our front door doesn't shut properly due to some equipment he'd had resting against the door for an hour. What does Bridgfords/Countrywide have to say about this? 'You should have pointed it out due avoid another unnecessary visit to the property'. Yeah okay, i'm so sorry for beinga dumb tenant who refused to let the contractor leave until i'd magically detected various issues around the house and bullied him into fixing them. if we'd arranged for this to take place when out of the house anyway, what would this 'Emily' have said to me then, "you should have stayed at home and not gone to work to prevent another home visit". what nonsense. this woman is on another planet. I have filed a formal report against her because she shouldn't be offering her own opinions. for a supposed professional, her entire email was nasty and sneering. all in all, incredibly useless company. but I will be happy to update my review with positives if they actually prove they can deliver from now on. We shall see...

We have just become tenants of a new build property in Durham and the whole process from start to finish was made so simple and easy by our lettings negotiator Stacy. We had a few requests regarding our new home and Stacy was on the ball to get them sorted very quickly, she really took all the stress out of everything. I can highly recommend Bridgfords if you are looking for a new home.

Valuation?? They can't be bothered!

Booked in a valuation with Bridgfords. They called the following morning at 830 which was very efficient. Was advised over the phone that this would take 30 minutes. Had a phone call from the Sale branch on the morning of the appointment. Asked if i intended to put my house up for sale, said it would be dependent on the equity we have in the house. He said the valuation would take and hour and a half and he could send a virtual valuation. It sounded like the guy couldn't be bothered at all. If this is the level of experience you get from someone that is trying to get your business, I would hate to think about the experience you would have selling through this place. Really poor service!

I signed up to let my house with Countrywide Lettings in Durham and within a week they had found a professional tenant at the rent i wanted. I am extremely happy with their service. Carly and Faye were brilliant in sorting everything out and have dealt with any queries i had with the highest levels of service. Excellent!! 12 years on ive just sold my house through Bridgfords. I have known Carly for years and she was as professional and thorough as always when valuing the property. Her team were fantastic too. Madison booked some quality viewings and pushed the social media element too. She provided timely feedback on viewings after they’d taken place and the communication from everyone from start to finish has been top class. thank you.

Have reported manager to property…

Have reported manager to property ombudsman. Bridgfords agreed a one percent sale fee to sell grandmothers property. The branch manager, Tammi Moulton, then completed the sale contract on our behalf, changing the fee to 'percentage of asking price' without consent - leading to an increase in fee by hundreds of pounds. This is, of course, unethical, illegal and we are challenging this. Add this to poor service, poor marketing of the property, and poor attitude of the staff members, in particular Tammi Moulton, and I don't think it is possible to find a worse estate agent in Staffordshire. Needless to say, I would avoid using.

Landlords (and tenants!) - avoid this agent

To use a phrase, Bridgfords / Countrywide are an omnishambles, when it comes to being a landlord's agent. Landlords - Do yourselves and your tenants a favour and choose a different agent. You will end up doing just as much work managing Bridgfords (actually Countrywide) as you would managing any issues directly yourself. Two particular incidents that wound me up were when they charged us for work done by a decorator, which the decorator later admitted was never carried out; and secondly after forgetting to charge a tenant for costs due to them, they charged us instead, after deposit refund - without agreement or notice (money they still refuse to refund).

I recently rented a property in Durham through Bridgfords, Caitlyn Chambers was the letting agent. Caitlyn was extremely helpful and efficient throughout the process, everything was done very quickly and without hassle. This was a nice contrast to various other letting companies I had inquiries with who frequently didn't return calls or respond at all to inquiries...

Got bored of chasing them

Called multiple times to try and get a viewing booked in. Was told multiple times someone would call me back. Got bored of chasing them. They seemed far more interested in getting me to speak to their mortgage broker, and I hadn’t even viewed any houses with them yet! I have no idea how they manage to sell any houses. Quite clearly a load of sales people trying to hit targets and not actually that bothered about selling houses.

Tenant review. Terrible estate agents. Property was disgustingly filthy when I moved in, bin bags of food waste left rotting in the wardrobes, dust coating everything, the bathroom was black with grime. Was informed by Bridgfords it would take 5 days to arrange a cleaner, so I arranged my own the same day. After 4 months of being in the property my boiler has still not been fixed - I have had a contractor out over 6 times. The boiler now needs replaced and my contractor needs to discuss with the landlords as obviously not cheap. Bridgfords however have asked the contractor to try further repairs despite him saying we’re running out of options to fix it. So likely will be further delay in getting adequate hot water in the property. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this estate agents especially students who may be taken advantage of.
