Hunters P'Head - Terrible customer service!

My recent experience with Hunters (Portishead) has been very poor and unfortunately, due to terrible customer service, I will avoid ever dealing with the company again. I thought it may be wise to share this review as I genuinely feel houses may not be selling in our area due to a certain persons 'selling techniques'. Every phonecall before and after our viewing with this person was incredibly frustrating. They were very rude, abrupt and patronising. During the viewing both me and my partner were almost cringing at the 'selling technique' , it was all about him and his contacts, very much a bragging opportunity. This was followed with a very patronising quick fire lesson on 'how to sell a house'. If the agent had bothered to actually ask questions about us, he would have learnt that one of us had very extensive property sales experience. Similarly, by asking no questions about us, he didn't sell the house to us, he merely opened the door and identified what the rooms were. No attempt of selling the features to fit our needs, nothing. Whilst I initiated some questions about the property, the agent didn't answer me directly and would always look to my partner when speaking - we both picked up on this seperately and found it to be very rude and came across chauvinistic! The agent wrapped up the viewing by saying he had a cash buyer in next (as to try and scare us), we waited...and guess what, nobody arrived. During the multiple calls after out viewing (some were return calls to his voicemails) this particular agent would respond like he didn't have a clue who we were, (well if he had bothered to use his customer service skills perhaps his memory would have served him better) after re-highlighting who I was, I was faced with short answers in a 'you're wasting my time tone'. I left every phonecall seething at how rude this person really was.I think anyone who has dealt in any customer facing role understands that customer service is key, find out about your customer, what do they do, what are their needs, build a rapport etc.I appreciate we were only viewers but fast forward to us selling in the future - there wouldn't be a chance I would use them as my agent. Safe to say, I will not be dealing with Hunters again.

Can't thank the team enough for helping me find my 'forever home' and selling my old house in a week. Being in a place I love during lockdown made being on my own so much easier to deal with. Thank you all!

MY ADVICE IS DO NOT USE HUNTERS LETTING…

MY ADVICE IS DO NOT USE HUNTERS LETTING IN PONTEFRACT!!!I would prefer to give NO stars to Hunters Letting Agents of Pontefract. They are a shambles, they dont follow best practice in terms of how they deal with those people that sign agreements with them. I rented a property in the area being charged £700 pcm for a 3 bedroom house WITH garage I was very specific I needed a garage. the house had this and i was informed that everything had been checked at the property when I went to sign the contract. Moved in no working cooker, fridge or freezer, had 3 water leaks from bathroom (that I didnt use) into living room. Also no ability to use the Garage as they didnt give me a remote control for it for nearly 3 months and when they did it would not open but I had a manual handle to wind up and down (but the garage was full of builders rubbish), but of course they said they had checked and it was ready to move into. At the end of the tenancy they deducted £90 from the deposit for pet hair in the main bedroom (Ihave a cat which was always sleeping in its bed on the ground floor plus dead flies on the living room floor). No monies back however for the lack of the garage!! I then overpaid by mistake a further months payment and instead of sending back the full amount of £700 the deducted monies for some reason, no explanation to me. THEY ARE NOT BIG ON COMMUNICATING!!! People may think this is not true, I can prove all of this - there is more but i simply cannot be bothered to put it here. Will be taking legal advice.

Accept no responsibility for misselling

When we purchased our house through Hunters they marketed the property as having a 1.5 acre plot. Since purchasing we have subsequently found out this 1.5 acres is actually less than 1 acre. We have raised this with Hunters who do not consider they have done anything wrong. We have gone through their escalation process for what it was worth and they refuse to accept any responsibility. We are taking further action to understand what laws Hunters have actually broken around misspelling but if anyone has any advice feel free to comment.

Avoid! Wouldn't even give one star. Me and my partner went in and paid £240 holding fee only to find out after we paid it that there were other fees to pay. £90 guarantor fee, not mentioned to us before we paid the non refundable holding fee even though I said we would need a guarantor, £60 to hand the keys back at the end of the tenancy, £90 everytime a renewal is needed. I've rented before and never been hit with extra charges. You pay a fee, then your deposit and bond. Sadly we have lost the £240 as they refuse to refund us after we were misled. We have decided to buy a house now but will be avoiding Hunters due to our experience which is a shame as we have seen some we like with them. Make sure you know what your getting into before signing or putting money down with these.

Don’t expect any help.

Trying to talk to someone is just ridiculous. No one can do anything and always passes to another person which leads to waiting for a callback that never happens. I called 8 times yesterday hit voicemail each time, was only calling as again the call I was promised didn’t happen.Very happy to be changing to working with another estate agent.

Hot air and horse

My original contract was with Thurman & Rye and was acquisitioned by Hunters part way through, but the staff remained the same. They had two flats to sell, so I offered them 3% if they sold both flats within the standard contract period as an incentive to market the properties. They didn’t market or sell a single flat. They just sat there and hoped for RightMove to create the footfall.Worse still was the brochuring of the properties, they couldn’t spell, got the wrong specs and they couldn’t draw the floor plans properly. Loads of promises and assurances from the start etc, but proved to be a load of hot air and horse.

DO NOT USE THIS ESTATE AGENT

DO NOT USE THIS ESTATE AGENT. On the 18.10.2018 I was appointed to see an apartment at 41 Mill West, Sowerby Bridge, HX6 3JH. (I hope the landlord is reading this)We agreed a time of 16:45 but due to traffic my sat nav advised I would be eleven minutes late. I called the office at 16:25 and after a few minutes of waiting for somebody to answer the telephone I was greeted. I advised the lady I was running late by eleven minutes and was told the agent showing me around cannot wait for me because she finishes at 5pm. I asked why would it be booked with only 15 minutes to spare for viewing and the reply I received from a manager at hunters was “you only get five minutes to view the property. The manager I had the displeasure of conversing with was named Nicola Thompson. She is rude, cocky and full of self importance with no regard for customer service or a potential tennents interest or the landlord of the property who contributes to her salary. I feel I had a lucky escape. I hope her superiors read this as well as the landlord who owns the property I was going to view. She needs to enroll in a customer service role and soon, personally I’d fire her but unfortunately this is what happens when you allow the inexperienced and possibly inadequate into a junior management role. I will post on every review site I can because of this women’s attitude with the hope her bosses react and teach her how to behave towards potential and existing customers.

I can't complain about these letting agents as I signed an agreement not too so that we could get some of our deposit back...

I can't tell you about my experience with a recent let as the only way I could get our deposit back was to agree not to complain about any aspect of the tenancy or the process of charges negotiation. I can tell you to be very careful about using this letting agent. They issue a notice to quit towards the end of each assured short hold tenancy rather than let the tenancy run-on so that they can raise the rent, knowing you are in situ and charge new fees for the tenancy agreement. Scrutinise your inventory and the check-out report in detail. Do not suggest you have any cause for complaint.

We had so many issues

We had so many issues in our rented property and they never came and sorted them due to this we moved out. We had left our house in a very clean state and only the problems we had when we moved in had been left they tried to take our full bond off us and more. They are horrific and I wouldn’t recommend using them and I certainly won’t be ever again.

Terrible!

We've just part-exchanged our home, to move into a new build property. Through the part-ex process, the developer appointed Hunters in Consett to sell our existing house on their behalf. At first, things seemed positive. The two gentlemen who came round to measure up and take photos were friendly and professional. The photos they took were great quality, and really showed our house off. They managed to find a few viewings for us. On the morning of the first viewing, we went out not realising that Hunters would try and call us to confirm that we were still available for the viewing. We came home to a missed call on our home phone, and returned it to find that Hunters had cancelled the viewing as they could not confirm our availability. Had they tried our two mobile numbers? No, because they failed to update their records yet again.A few more appointments came up - each time, they called our home phone. We'd call them back when we got home, and either leave an answerphone message asking them to call us on a mobile when they were open, or we'd speak to someone in the office who'd say the person dealing with our property was out, and would arrange for them to call us back. They never did return calls, or at least not to our mobiles anyway. On a number of occasions when we spoke to them, we checked that they actually did have our mobile numbers - it turned out they'd actually got an old number, despite us giving them our new ones several times over. On one occasion, they acted indignant and surprised that we hadn't received a text message from them, and promptly reeled off my old number yet again when I checked where they'd sent it.The final straw came when, having returned their calls on numerous occasions and never got through to the right person, they got in touch with the developer we were part exchanging with to complain about us being uncooperative! This was something we were really not happy with - fortunately, the developer accepted our explanation of events and how incompetent Hunters had been because we had previously complained about the issues with them - had they not, the purchase of our new house could have fallen through.Fortunately the purchase of our new property didn't fall through, and we moved out. In the several months we had the property on the market, Hunters did not manage to successfully get one person through the door to view due to their complete inability to successfully call the right number. We did have a viewing prior to moving out (via another estate agents) and the first thing the person did was complain that they couldn't get Hunters to ring them back about a viewing. Hunters now hold keys to the vacant property, but I imagine they're still trying to call our (now disconnected) home phone number to try and arrange a viewing. We found them unprofessional, uncooperative and impolite, not to mention utterly incompetent. We'd recommend anyone looking to sell their home give Hunters in Consett a very wide berth.

People be alert avoid at all cost like covid. Do not deal with the bradford shipley branch previously Bentleys. Dishonest timewasters that just do not care. They lie and cheat to impress for their own gain. Mis advice vendors to sell to buyers who are friends/associates. Dont waste your time and emotions I did. Wish I and vendors had checked the previous reviews would not have wasted time and money.

Data Breach !

I enquired about a house and have been added illegally to a mailing list. I complained and asked to be removed twice, was told they never added me (though the emails added me 1 day after my 1 ever enquiry to this company) and they have yet to remove me. Companies like this should not be trusted, they are taking your data and will spam you !
