TrustpilotAvoid this agency by all means
Avoid this agency by all means. They attract landlords who will lie to you about the history of the property and it’s current state (mine was infested with massive rats which the landlord claim to know nothing about until I called exterminators who found evidence from a different extermination team)The staff will make promises to you and not fulfil them ( I agreed to take a contract pending they would clean the property, however it was inhabitable for 3 days before the landlord arrived to clean. Agency promised to refund those three days but choose to ignore this state 6 months down the line and this cost me money as the tenant.I have never written a review in my life and I’ve rented for 10+ now and I have experience a lot. I would never recommend this agency even to my worse enemy.

TrustpilotWorst renting experience in our lives.
Worst experience we’ve ever had as tenants. We rent a property from Bridgfords lettings Durham Branch. We’ve rented property for many years but have never been in this situation before. We’ve been living without hot running water for months now (comes out the tap like ice). The boiler stopped working in December. Bridgfords sent out an engineer who got the central heating working but couldn’t get the hot water to work. The engineer told Bridgfords that the boiler needs replacing. They still haven’t replaced it. To top it all, they’ve been deceptive in the emails they’ve sent, stating in February that they’d contacted an engineer to fit the boiler and that we should “look out for our phone ringing” only to be now told that they’re “waiting for a cheque to clear”.I can only think the 2.5 stars is because shortly after moving in they badger you with emails to give them a Trustpilot review before you’ve had a chance to see their true colours. Appalling, not worth 1 star.

TrustpilotFirst home - couldn't have done it without them!
I recently bought my first home and couldn't have done it without the help of Chloe, Ryan and Gemma. They offered their support from start to finish and always explained what was happening. They were always there to talk and would reply to emails quickly. They really eased the stress of moving into a new home. I will definitely be using them again in the future and will be recommending them to family and friends who move within the area. Thanks so much to the whole team at Bridgfords x

TrustpilotDO NOT USE THESE!!!!
DO NOT USE THESE!!!!The worst estate agents ever. If you’re considering them, do not do it. So at the end of October i needed to move out. So i found a flat, viewed it, applied, got accepted. So obviously i handed in my notice at my current housing. I requested to send my boyfriend to pick the keys up as i was in work until 6pm. Double, tripple checked if they needed any confirmation for him to collect them. Was advised they needed nothing as they would recognise him from the viewing. At the point of the keys being handed over they told my boyfriend he had to sign on my behalf… As the estate agent walked my boyfriend up the stairs of the flat she advised him that some pidgeons had broken in and pood all over the floor. Baring in mind at this point, i’d spoken to her on that day and paid over £1000 to their company. It is just me on the agreement so it’s a breach of DPA that they advised my partner that and not me on the call where i paid them money. I asked to get keys early so i could move in my stuff. So with the bird poo all over the floor i did ask how they expected me to move my furniture over that. After confronting the company about advising my partner to sign my name i was advised WE should have known that was wrong. It took a week to sort this out, i have now had to find other housing as i had about 2.5/3 weeks until im a 19 year old homeless person… After displaying my annoyance to the company the rudely asked if i could live at my parents or my boyfriends… I have finally managed to get keys for a new flat however now i only have 4 days until my tenancy runs out. Baring in mind i work 7:30am-6pm so now i’m having to rush everything in 4 days. Also, the day i picked up the keys i was told they didn’t have the key for the front door of the flat building which is by the car park. So now i’m left with 4 days to move my stuff in & no access to the building. I must admit, i do have a key to the other door on the building. however to get to that door you have to cross a bridge, go up and down some stairs therefore is the complete opposite of convenient. This estate agents is a joke and has only caused me stress. If i didn’t have limited time to leave my current property i would not be staying with them.

TrustpilotAbsolutely disgusted with this place
Absolutely disgusted with this place. Went to rent a house. Discussed my situation my income everything I could I was upfront about. Was told I had the house and asked to pay a holding deposit and hand my notice in to my current landlord. House definitely ours. Had 2 guarantors which was all accepted by the landlord. Start packing my house have my current landlord accept my notice and put my house back on the market. 2 weeks later get told I can no longer have the house I failed credit check. They were told from day 1 I would fail hence the guarantors. Was told I came back bankrupt which is not true. Asked if I could do anything to prove this wasn't true. Was told doesnt matter you can't have the house. So no home to move into and a home I have to leave with 5 kids in tow. Disgusted with them. Oh and lose the holding deposit they said I needed to place after being told I was accepted. Literally left us with no home!!!!

TrustpilotThese agents act like robots
These agents act like robots with no human face. Wanted to move in with a property they are managing. Unfortunately for us, we went ahead and paid for the house.(rent) On the day of collecting keys, I could not make it. I called to beg if they can give keys to the lead tenant who has already moved to the property with her stuff wanting to pick up keys. They refused because I was not there. They left her stranded. I promised to take any responsibility that comes with collecting keys. No buldging. Moreover communicating with them is unusually difficult, hard to pick calls. I wont recommend these kind of insensitive agents

TrustpilotBeyond unprofessional; like a school playground!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This estate agent is only interested in acting for the buyer, bending over backwards to help them, despite the fact clearly the seller was paying their fee! They do very little work to earn their commission; in fact less than average. They never answer the phone, it always goes to voicemail, no matter what time of day you telephone. They cancelled 10 block viewings because the buyer who first viewed the property demanded they did; well dodgy, because at the 12th hour, less than 24 hours before completion, Solicitor calls to say we need to sign a new contract as the buyer's name has changed!!!!!! Bridgfords failed on every count, did not keep me updated whatsoever, just constantly put pressure on as to when completion could take place, despite knowing from the outset I had to find another home to live in; demanded a survey after 3 months, despite saying buyer was a cash buyer and did not need one!!! I would not use Bridgfords ever again in any way, shape or form, and no way on God's earth would I recommend them, not even to my worst enemy!

Do not use this company. We setup a viewing of a property which without any contact they did not attend. Since this time I have been called several times saying that I have requested a viewing of my property which I have never done and have regularly asked for my details to be removed from their database but keep receiving more calls.

TrustpilotI was persuaded to give management of…
I was persuaded to give management of my property to Bridgfords. As Landlord, I would expect from an agent to care for my property as much as I do. However, I did not receive this level of service from Bridgfords.Very poor customer service. One mistake after the other, to start, I was introduced tenants which one of them had a CCJ registered. However, the branch manager persuaded me to accept as they had a solid guarantor.Only 3 months after the tenancy started, rent seized. At first, I was sent an email with updates every week. Rent arrears continued to accumulate, however strangely the more rent was in arrears, the less I was updated with the situation.Due to Bridgfords not chasing the rent anymore, I had no other alternative but to outsource a debt collector, of course at my own cost. Shockingly, debt collection later found that the "solid guarantor" was an 85 year old pensioner which was not in a financial position to pay for the outstanding rent. Also, during our 12 months, Bridgfords was unable to gain access to perform a property inspection, despite myself contacting the tenants and agreeing on a date - however Bridgfords had an excuse for everything. Also, I requested some repairs to be done and they did not bother to find a contractor to do the work. Again giving me excuses that "the tenants are not responsive etc..." which is not true.I am now left alone dealing with disrepairs, a possession hearing, thousands of pounds in rent arrears and an estate agency that had decided to quit management rather than find solutions.I can not express my frustration, stress and a feeling that they simply did not care are the minimum about my property. This to me was unacceptable, if I were you I would think twice before giving your property to them.

TrustpilotOne star is being generous.
One star is being generous.Listen folks, this company is crooked, yet they still manage to stay within the law I was looking to rent a property. Saw a nice place and decided to act fast. Never heard of Bridgfords so no reason to suspect any hanky panky.Filled in the application which was emailed via docusign by a very friendly helpful lady (or so I thought.. Sent straight back and waited for reply.Saw no reason to read the small print.Immediately sent another set of documents "Keysafe" which actually said you should let them know of any adverse credit. (we had a default from some time ago) so we ticked the box and paid the £219 holding deposit.Long and short of it, they came back and said the rental could not go ahead and they would be keeping the holding deposit because we had not disclosed adverse credit before signing docusign, not "Keysafe".Beware folks, they make their money by taking deposits and not making it clear at what stage of the process you must declare your status.Do not deal with these people , personally, I should have read the reviews on here first, if you are reading this then it is likely you made the same mistake as me and never read the reviews . Spread the word, these people are bandits.

TrustpilotScam company. Will charge you for fake cleans...
Moved into a property which was uninhabitable it was so unclean. Told by the staff member we could wait for bridgfords to organise someone or pay for it ourselves. At the end of the tenancy we cleaned the property top to bottom and were charged £150 for the oven cleaning. Turns out the cleaning company is ran and owned by a manger at Bridgfords and they didn't even do the clean. We have spoken to the new tenants and they have told us they also had to pay for the oven cleaning. Scam company and a fraudulent cleaning company all in one. Avoid at all costs. Trading standards have been informed.
