TrustpilotExcellent- one of the best estate agents if you are buying or selling.
I have read a fair cross section of the reviews of Bridgford on Trustpilot, and the majority of them seem to be from disgruntled tenants, but finding a tenant who is happy with their landlord is a tall order! My experience of Bridgfords Halifax in buying our retirement flat was excellent. You tend to think that if you are buying , the estate agent is only interested in satisfying the seller but Matt Corfield at Bridgfords Halifax looked after us very well and kept us up to date every step of the way. We completed in just over 6 weeks which is something of a record buying a leasehold flat. Even the letting guys in their office were friendly and welcoming. I have no hesitation in recommending Bridgfords Halifax for any type of property transaction.

TrustpilotVery rude service
Very rude service, shouty staff, name Olivia. We made an offer to buy a house from this estate agent and they were not EVEN bothered to ring us back, promised that will ring, on the phone being extremely rude but never did. Feel sorry for the vendor.. if he knew how they sell his house... Also, not knowledgeable, anything we asked about the house even the most basic questions as to whether there is a chain- they didnt know!?? Will advise EVERYONE stay away from these agents as they are just wasting people's time, we viewed the house twice and we're seriously interested in buying itWell, we are buying a house next door's from other agents, of course, who are a lot more helpful and doing business right.

TrustpilotBe careful if you have to deal with them
Not a great company. They wrote into our contract to say that I give them the right to sign me up to the utility company of their choosing (i guess for commission) which was Spark energy. It took me 3 months to sort this mess out as I didn't realise that the property had a prepay meter. They said that we could go to the local branch close to our old property to give our ID documents but the other office wasn't aware of us or that we were going? They lost our ID and we had to go to get it verified twice. Communication was not ideal between us there was some confusion over what furniture would or wouldn't be in the property and they changed the details on questioning. They did not take an inventory when we moved in. Our deposit was moved to a different deposit holding service soon after we moved in (??) and we got countless letters about that. Personalities of the people we dealt with from this company (4 in total) ranged from slightly incompetent to pushy and I got/get the feeling that I'm not being told the truth all of the time. Would prefer not to deal with them in future.

Trustpilotworst estate agents in uk total frauds and liars the lot of them
bridgfords are a shocking company full stop, they fail on all aspects of customer service care and they all tell lies and rob you blind of your money . bridgfords bolton branch have a very rude manager called claire and incompetant staff especially natalie and savannah palmer . they miss sell your spark energy without your knowledge and agreement, they blatantly lie saying you signed for it .this miss selling practice is now illegal and has been reported to local councils and trading standards . they treat all there tenants especially registered disabled customers with discontent and no customer care full stop . bridgfords repairs are the worst of any estate agents totally incompetent bad service .no jobs ever get done on time . landlords are never there to be contacted and wont pay for any repairs .ryan caucill at bridfords must me the worst manager going he wants sacking asap the way hes left his tentant to rot in hell in an uninhabitable propery with no hot water , blocked drains , damp and mould in all 3 bedrooms , no working burglar alarm , rats in garage and garden , broken window left for over a month to be repaired after a recent robbery confirmed by police crime report , broken overflowing toilet etc etc etc . bridgfords also have on out of hours emergency line instead you have to dial 999 or pay yourself not good if theres a major leak , fire or in my case a robberyi am still traumatised and a nearly had a fatal heart attack because of it . bridgfords especially ryan and claire the managers didnt want to know and the landlords just went hiding and not being responsible full stop .also bridfords , countrywide and landlords are withholding my bond money which is also illegal .my landlords from bolton wouldnt pay for a new roof which hadnt got adequate landlords buildings insurance, so when the bridgfords property inspector david said all jobs including new roof would cost approx 10k , the landlords just ripped my 6months contract upi had signed and craftily gave me 2 months notice to vacate proprty in the middle of winter and being under safeguarding as a registered disabled person and made me homeless, they are truly despicable. so in summary if your are renting let alone buying a property keep well away from the worst estate agents ever in BRIDGFORDS , you have all been warned . hundreds of bad reviews all online dont lie !

Trustpilot1 star is too good for this company keep well away
1 star is too good for this company the staff are ignorant self centred pathological liars and they dont speak to you they speak at you in a condesending way, They don't respond to reports when things need fixing and expect you to jump when they finally listen to you. They have no regards to when you work and think it's acceptable to enter the property when your not present. The land lady wasn't any better either her advice to a tv that was reported in a furnished flat was to hit it and it will be ok as well as accusing the silicone had been pulled off but hadn't they took £60 off the bond to clean the oven which couldn't be cleaned properly as they said it was ok to leave on the monday then rang giving 4 hours notice to say that i had to hand the key back at close of business 4 days earlier than expected. the flat was disgusting when I moved in and they said it had been professionally cleaned when it clearly hadn't and it took 3 days to clean before moving in. Not to mention reporting a fire door taking 12 minutes to close putting my life and other residents of neighbouring flats lives in danger still not rectified after 3 years in the property. keep away from this place.

Trustpilot1 star is being nice
1 star is being nice. Unfair rent and "administration fees". Required repairs were highlighted with the manager directly upon viewing the property and still not completed 12 months on upon me moving out. One of these was the flush mechanism on the toilet which shows you how much they care about their tenants. Rent advertised lower than actual (Jan 2017 advertised at £450 pcm and was actually £500. Now up for 500 where it is actually £515. My flat was disgusting upon moving in and still had paint/work gear from where someone left half way through a job. Less than a month before my tenancy is up for renewal, I receive an email stating that rent is increasing and I have to pay £125 administrator fee to literally stay in my current home. Needless to say, I am moving out at the first opportunity and will be avoiding Bridgfords from now on. Absolute joke of an organisation with not a care in the world for their tenants. Never again

TrustpilotAn utter disgrace. Steer clear!
I am only giving one star as there is no option to give zero. I rented a property through bridgfords based on the lies told to me by the agent. I stayed for the full six months, despite having no hot water upstairs, no shower, no oven, and a friendly family of rats living in the shed/kitchen. I had to pay to have a phone line put in, get a new gas meter fitted, and made general improvements, despite the poor quality of the property.I moved out over a month ago, they hadn't even booked an inspection until I went into the local office to ask about it. 6 days after the official move out date (I actually moved out 3 weeks before) the inspection was done, and was, as expected, nit picky. I arranged to have the carpets cleaned (again, they'd already been done, absolutely nothing wrong with them), and the landlord emailed to have them release my bond. This was 2 weeks ago, the rep from bridgfords then emailed me NINE DAYS after the landlord's email, to request my bank details; I replied immediately. It's now been a week and I still haven't received my money. I have had to take a loan to pay the bond on my new house, at my own expense. Bridgfords do not care about anything but their targets and their profits.I wish I had looked at their reviews before using their "service". I would certainly have made a different decision, and would advise anyone thinking of using them, to steer clear and avoid the hassle.

TrustpilotTerrible customer service
Called the Preston branch and left a voicemail asking for a call back to arrange a viewing - still waiting 2 days later.I called last week for a viewing at one of their properties and was told someone would call me back to confirm - they didn't - so I called back, they apologised and said they would call me back first thing in the morning, no surprises for guessing that I'm still waiting for that call.If I was a landlord wanting to rent a property I would be furious that potential tenets are not even getting called back to view their properties. Avoid.

TrustpilotBEWARE better out there
Like previous reviews gave 1 star because I had to ,too be able to write a review Do not deal with this company after several years of renting from various rental companies this is by far the worst They take large amounts of money initially for things that are unjustifiable e.g credit cheques which can be done free of charge and are by lots of companies The quibbling to get repairs done e.g broken patio door lock was "fixed" by placing a coin in the lock yes it worked but would a new lock have been better practice and that was not the only repair in the few short months that I lived in the property broken cooker, leaking toilet blocked drain the list is endless and more if I would have lived in the property longer The worst thing is when you leave a property and they do the checkout process They emailed me a list longer than my arm of does and donts produce receipts for deep cleaning it wasn't deep cleaned before I moved in me and my family did it all they told me it had been done "sack the company that does it their rubbish and that's a mild word" leave the garden tidy, windows washed, rubbish cleared the list is endless they then send a checkout operative to make sure everything OK this process took about 90 minutes they take endless amounts of pictures to make sure everything is fine After this you hope you will get your bond back but if you don't ask for it they won't remind you about it I asked several times how long mine would take communication is not a good point you will get sick of emailing and telephoning Use another letting agent there are a lot better out there

TrustpilotAn absolute DISGRACE! LANDLORDS & TENANTS BEWARE
Have never written a review before but felt incensed enough to sign up and do one, so here goes;Where to start...1. Terrible customer service - seriously unprofessionalE.G. had to pay a small sum of money a couple of years ago so gave my card details over the phone. Money didn't come out until 2 weeks later - it turned out that this employee had written all my credit card details down on a piece of paper including 3 digit security code and had forgotten about it until 2 weeks later.E.G told we had to be present on a given day for the 6-monthly inspection. So I put a holiday in at work for it... Bridgefords never turned up and no phone call (this happened a few times).2. Repairs - no inspections of the works carried out by the cowboys they sub to.E.G. 10-15 visits over 2 year period by 4 different companies to try fix a shower 3. FIRE/SMOKE ALARM FAULTY - the fire/smoke alarm in the hallway of our apartment was faulty and I found it had 'expires june 2015' and needed to be replaced. Took loads of phone calls and well over a year to sort it out. 4. THEY CANCELLED OUR ENERGY PROVIDER ACCOUNT WITH EON - We got a letter through the post saying that our letting agent had cancelled our account. This is a breach of contract.Above are but a few of the more serious issues but bottom line is I have not one good thing to say about Bridgefords. Guys I could go on - seriously...Bridgefords - wow what can I say, I'm surprised you haven't been shopped to the relevant authorities by now because you are a complete and utter disgrace.

TrustpilotDon't deal with this agent
The worst customer service ever! I received a call from one of the letting agents at Bridgfords after an inquiry and she booked me a viewing, i waited for a whole week and on the day of the viewing i called to confirm the appointment as i didn't receive any confirmation from them. The agent that i spoke to who claimed to be the manager was totally unprofessional and just kept saying that there is no appointment booked for me today and maybe it's another agency not Bridgfords!! when i asked to submit an official complaint she said there is nothing to do and that she is the manager and the only thing she could do is to call me if anyone else cancelled his booked appointment or to book me another appointment after a week while she knows that this property will be gone by then!! Although she said that someone else was booked on the same time slot that i was given by the agent and he cancelled his appointment but again she refused to book me! She didn't even care to know the agent who called me and did that error

Only gave 1 star because I had to. Absolute disgrace of a company. If you want to be lied to, call dodged, ripped off on end of tenancy deposit return (genuinely left the property in a better condition than recieved it in) and caused a huge amount of stress then rent a property from this outfit. If however you would like to avoid all of the above then rent a property from elsewhere. Seriously, don't put yourselves through the stress. It will take 3 months, THREE MONTHS of listening to lies, dealing with incompetence, and call dodging because they know they have cocked up just to get your deposit back. Read reviews, do your checks, I doubt you'll find any extremely satisfied customers.

TrustpilotLOWTON BRANCH LET DOWNS!!!
Do your research on Brigfords before you even glance at their website let alone walk through the door. It seems that they will be happy to place any house on the market without firstly checking that the person who is selling is in a legal position to sell! 24 weeks on and £1200 out of pocket on a vacant no chain property without an exchange date mentioned once, i had to back out! Unprofessional! They will literally sell the ground from under you if you said you owned it! Buyers be aware! Always speak to the vendor at the earliest opportunity, and always request proof of who owns the property and ensure the seller has power of attorney if they say they are selling on the behalf of someone else! Very underhanded! Personally I'd keep well away!!!!!!!! Charming staff until you hit a wall, then expect very little help with zero empathy, topped of with a drawn out game of he said she said while you're made to sit through all the legalities that should have been covered before the house got placed on the market in the first place!

TrustpilotAvoid at all costs!!!!
These are by far the worst estate agents to rent from. They were always slow to respond to repair and maintenance issues, it took the landlady to call and apologise on behalf of Bridgfords before anything could be fixed. However when it comes to money, they make all sorts of silly excuse to keep your deposit and inflate costs to justify reaping off tenants. The staff are incredibly complacent and rude. Dealt with the lettings manager at their Northwich office and a Rebekah in their head office, never dealt with such unhelpful and rude individuals, it's a wonder what sort of customer service training they receive, if any at all. AVOID!!!!!

TrustpilotAvoid!
Durham branch, DH1 3AAThe Durham branch of Bridgfords seem to be operating on a very cheap basis for landlords, as they have a large portfolio of properties on the market for rent and sale. However, as we found out (as tenants), they do try to charge you money everywhere (references, visits, etc) and do try to take from the deposit what they can. I also think they cheated our landlord out of some money.Communication is very poor once you've signed a contract. This is all Bridgfords agents care about; once that is done, expect very slow or no email responses at all; you'll be calling either the estate agents or their Property Management Centre for the region (for maintenance/repairs in Gateshead) constantly to chase up things. One repair in our flat took 6 months (!) to be finally completed. Typical waiting times were admittedly more around 3-4 weeks, but who wants to wait this long for a repair of a door, window or blind? Some faults in our flat were never repaired and repeatedly ignored until I gave up.When calling the branch in Durham itself, I found it amusing that the standard response of the person on the phone was "I don't really know anything about this/how this works - I'm new here". Staff turnover is very high - all the letting agents we dealt with in the beginning were gone or in other positions by the time we left. I also found they didn't really know what they were doing, here are some examples:- They gave us a form to set up a standing order, for us to complete, which I did. As I found out just in time from the bank (to avoid the hefty fee of a late rent payment), such forms are not accepted by UK banks. Not that the agent had actually tried to submit the form! When I called her I received a snotty response that it's my fault if the rent isn't paid on time. - We started looking to buy in the area later in the year. The agents who work on sales have no access to the computer system of the agents who work on tenancies - rather odd. - They will continue to call you about properties and send you emails even after you've told them several times that you no longer need the service/updates. Ironically, at one stage they advertised the flat that we were moving out of to us.- They were adamant that they needed to carry out "inspection visits" every couple of months, as a service to the landlord. If you are not there they will charge you a hefty fine. On the second time this came along, I had to reschedule. After asking them to call me back, they completely forgot (I kept the emails to prove I had to told them to reschedule). For something that they told me it was so important they seemed to not take it too seriously after all.- Once the property management centre called me about the "water coming through the ceiling" that I had reported a while ago. It turned out this wasn't me, but another tenant from a completely different flat. My recommendation is to avoid Bridgfords. Finally, take pictures immediately of every paper you sign! Don't wait for a copy to be sent to you.

Terrible agency. Moved into the property in November and waited months for repairs to be done. Some repairs are still not done now. Their agent failed to turn up to a property viewing. We called the agent and the office several times and no one picked up so we went to their office and booked another appointment for later that day. They then failed to turn up to the second appointment and when we went to the office again, showed no remorse and did not apologise. Will never ever book with them again.
