GoogleI recently contacted Martin and Co estate agents about viewing a property I was very interested in. I called them twice and was assured both times that someone would get back to me. Unfortunately, I never received any follow-up calls. This lack of communication was quite disappointing and unprofessional.

Hi Nikolett, It appears there has been a misunderstanding. We have already exchanged a few emails between you and my staff regarding your property search. For example, emails in our inbox and sent folder are dated 13th May and 15th May. In the last email we sent to you, we asked which property you were inquiring about, but we haven't received any further reply from you. We have had no further communications from you since then. As an estate agent, this is the best we could do, as applicants typically stop responding to our communications when they have found a property to move into. Therefore, it's perfectly acceptable for us to stop if you left the matter unattended. In fact, if we continued to follow up persistently, some applicants might mistake our efforts as unreasonably desperate for business, which could also be seen as bad customer service. So, we always take a balanced approach in handling customer communications. I'd like to request that you withdraw your review, as it does not accurately reflect how we handle communications with applicants who have left us inquiries. If you are still looking for a property, please get in touch at caterham@martinco.com or follow up on my staff's last email sent to you on 15th May at 11:36 AM.

GoogleFrom start to finish of the purchase of Flat 6 Spargo House, the staff have acted in a professional, positive and helpful manner thereby contributing to a speedy conclusion to completion. Their timely coordination with my mortgage broker and solicitor has led to achieving completion within around 10 weeks of negotiation with the sellers, a very positive outcome. Completely ridiculous deduction of money from my deposit after 6 years of looking after a property really well. I kept away mould and put up with a falling apart kitchen and windows. I spent nearly £300 getting the cleaning done and when I moved in it was so dirty I had to clean it all first. Surly staff with a distinct lack of personal service and bad attitudes. When I moved out they put up the rent by £175 a month! Complete rip off. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

GooglePleasant enough but let us down badly. We saw a flat in Caterham back in November. Went to sign the paperwork to be told the flat was going up for sale so had been taken off the market. Came back up for rent on 23rd December so again we put the paperwork in only to be told that there were 2 people in the running and the landlord had picked the other person who I suspect wasn't on full Uiniversal Credit. We should have been called as soon as it came back on the market. Very disappointed.

GoogleI would not recommend to use the services of Martin@co. Unfortunately staff are giving out misleading/withholding information. Firstly, after viewing a property twice my husband and I were informed that the advance payment would be 1 1/2 months rent which was altered in the Terms of Business to 2 months in advance. Secondly, on both viewings I requested for a long term contract (2 years) which we were informed by Martin@co that the landlord agreed to this contract but after signing the terms of business and payment was made to secure the property, in a matter of a couple of hours Martin@co emailed me to say that a 2 year contract could not go ahead because of the mortgage lender of the landlord. Only when I made a official complaint to Martin@co, they agreed to pay back the references fee and application fee although Martin@co are not obliged to do so. After quite a few emails, It took Martin@co almost a month before we got all the money back.

GoogleSTAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS. Staff are lovely however they don't do anything about problems regardless of how many times you ask or how bad it is. Currently living in a house full of mould - confirmed by 2 damp specialists that it is because of the property NOT US - there was a leak which WE FIXED AT OUR OWN COST - and there is bad ventilation is the house. We have provided 2 quotes for the work, they were meant to organise a quote but haven't bothered. It has been 4 months and we still have not had anyone make any effort to resolve the issues. I have 2 children, a 7 month old and a 6 year old who both are getting ill. Ive had a nasty cough and daily headaches for months. The house is fully managed so the agent should be chasing the landlord, and I should not be chasing them to do so.
