TrustpilotBeautiful Homes with a catch
Review Altered - Initially, we had a great experience, the sales team were very helpful and did whatever they could to help us get in. The house itself (when it gets finished) will be lovely but after completion the story changes completely. After Moving in to what we thought was going to be (an ought to be) a perfect new build is finished to a standard that you would expect a child to do. Paint is everywhere; the floor, on the doors, the kitchen cupboards the tiles and the sockets the sockets. The plaster work is sloppy at best with gouges in the walls and cracks across the ceiling. on top of this there are doors with missing latches, doors that don't fit, doors which have bowed or bubbled and doors without handles. Tiles missing from the bathrooms (both in the shower and from the walls) and leaking sinks The house hadn't even been cleaned before we moved in! We were told on completion that the site manager would get in touch to sort out snags within a few days but they knew several days before that this wouldn't happen and that their management had already made the decision to not allow contractors into homes except for emergency works. On top of problems with the house itself, there are issues with the services. Prior to completion we were told that Openreach hadn't connected up the internet but this would be sorted within a few weeks (2 or 3) but now we're in we have discovered (through our own digging with Openreach) that the fault was with Harron Homes not laying cables for the internet and they can't give us a date as to when they will do this as they haven't even got planning permission for where they want to lay them! We were told there wasn't going to be a path put in and had to sign a letter to the NHBC giving our consent to approve the house on the provision that this would be done by the end of January... again, this has not been done and no date can be given as to when it will be.Before completion the communication was excellent but once they got our money it became non-existent. All our chasing gets met with "we don't have an answer but will keep you updated" but the updates never come. There seems to be a culture of get them in and fob them off, letters put through the door on the day they tarmac the road if you get a letter at all.Granted we are in a Global Pandemic and it is difficult if not impossible to get people into the house to rectify this but the fact of the matter is that we have been kept in the dark and lied to. Again this is an altered review as our experience before moving in was excellent but after completion we have been forgotten about. Left in a house with paint everywhere, broken doors, missing tiles, cracked plaster and no internet and no date as to when any of this, let alone all of it, will be resolved. The excitement and joy of our new house has been tarnished by sloppy workmanship and poor communication and we are not alone, all the buyers of first phase homes are in the same position. If you choose to buy one of these properties (as the show homes are lovely) I would be prepared for an uphill struggle to get the minimum of what you pay for or accept your new build will look like its been lived in for years.

TrustpilotThoresby Vale Edwinstowe
We have recently completed on the Thoresby Vale site in Edwinstowe. I can fully recommend buying your home from Harron at thoresby vale. As a first time buyer, we had alot of questions and needed alot of guidance / advice but Jo & Michelle have been amazing from start to finish and nothing was to much to ask from reserving to even now we have completed, they really take care and time in understanding your personal situation and even making sure your home is right for when you move in. We missed a couple of appointments but we were consistently contacted and recieved many photos of the progress which was great and made us feel involved still. Then in terms of site, Niall is brilliant in his work and also shows his passion for making sure the homes are right which was a big thing to us, and our snag list (very short / minor bits) he is more than accommodating to sort for us so this is a big relief when buying a new build home. Jo, Michelle and Niall are a true credit to Harron and have really made things amazing for us. Thanks guys!

TrustpilotWe purchased at The Thornberries…
We purchased at The Thornberries estate. We are very happy with our home. That is not so say that’s it’s perfect and Harron certainly have their faults. Some of the brickwork to the garden wall is of a pretty poor standard, and all the properties on the estate seem to have their quirks. However, I do not know of a person on the estate who regrets buying their home, in spite of the issues that everyone has faced. All in all, not perfect but maybe not as bad as some of the other reviews would suggest. All I would say, if buying fromHarron do not expect perfection.

TrustpilotOur experience with Harron Homes…
Our experience with Harron Homes started off shaky, with a few different changes in staff. However, then Ann Lawler came along and took over the Forester's View Development in Crich and we're so glad she did! We wouldn't have managed to get our house without Ann, as she managed to step in, understand what had happened prior to her starting and managed to get us our dream home sorted, along with a part exchange deal too! From reserving to completing, the whole process only took 10 weeks, including the part exchange. Ann is fab, great at communication, friendly and is always a text or a phone call away. We've had a few little concerns but are in the midst of getting these sorted and our next step is to get our list of snags sorted. Thanks Ann! x

A big thank you to Sandra at The Hawthornes in Carlton. She has been so patient, understanding and happy to answer our 50 calls a day! Also to Rebecca who we originally dealt with...she was lovely and one of the best new home sales execs we have come across. Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out for us on this occasion but we will be back in touch with Sandra in a year or two when the development is further on.

TrustpilotWe purchased a home in York Vale…
We purchased a home in York Vale Gardens in September 2020. I cannot fault the sales service we received from both Caroline and Angie, who were friendly, professional and provided great customer service. The legal process however was very stressful. The home was build complete and we had a Part ex also of a newly built property, but made it clear we wanted to move quickly to ensure we were in our new home before the start of the school term. Harron Homes's Solicitors were very slow and unresponsive and made the whole experience most stressful and delayed. I ended up doing all of the chasing. However all issues aside, we eventually completed and are now in our beautiful home which we LOVE. We have had a few minor snagging issues, and those have been resolved speedily by Harron Homes.

TrustpilotYork Vale Gardens Part Ex
We have just completed on our new house, and have been so well supported by the York Vale Gardens team (particularly Angie & Caroline) throughout the whole process. The team went over and above to help our part exchange go as smoothly as possible, communicating regularly to keep us informed of progress, taking photos when we couldn't go on site due to COVID-19 and helping to resolve issues we had with solicitors. The part exchange process was very easy and allowed us to stay in our old house right up until completion (which was very lucky when COVID hit). Harron were also very flexible around completion date, as everything was very last minute! Our house is lovely - some (very!) minor snags, which have been worked on very promptly by the site team, so no complaints from us! Great service & great house.

Reserved our first home at Highfield Manor. My husband and I visited the site many times before actually reserving. Jane was so helpful, caring and welcoming. She answered all our questions and put us at ease without the pressure of having to reserve a plot. We are made to feel like no question is a silly question. Thank you Jane for being so wonderful and always putting us at ease. Can’t wait until our home is built! Harron Homes have made reserving our first home an experience we won’t forget.

Trustpilot12 Months on at Lavender Fold (Part 1)
This is my 12 month review which is in sharp contrast to the positive review we gave Harron Homes 12 months ago. At the time of completion we were so happy with our home & few snags we gave a glowing review. How things can change so much in 12 months We still love our home, the issue we have had since completion relates to our boundary & location of our flue outlet. At the time of reserving plot 108 in July 2019 we thought we would be buying the section of land down the side between us & our neighbours plot 109. The site plan in the sale office showed this land would belong to our plot & also the lavender fold website mirrored the same layout. Approximately 1 week after reservation we made the extras payment in order to secure the kitchen upgrades which needed to be ordered asap. 2 weeks after that we received the red line boundary plan documentation from our solicitors showing the land was ours and the rear boundary fence was on our neighbours wall. After a visit to site a month later we noticed both plots were being built different to what we had received from our solicitors. It wasn’t a shared garden anymore it was now a path at the front which had been fenced off between the two properties. We questioned this with our solicitors & a week later we were told we had been issued with the wrong plans. The section of land was now going to our neighbour & was different to the original approved plans. At this point we had already spent £500.00 on reserving the plot, £8560.00 on the extras & incurred 6 weeks of solicitors fees. Harron changed the plans for 108 & 109 in November 2018 but by July 2019 they had failed to update all their multi media advertising. ( I have photos taken of the site plan whilst in the sales office at that time) We didn’t know what to do & felt we were in an impossible situation as we were already financially & now emotionally attached to the property. My partner was already concerned about maintaining the gap between the path & our property & now we were being told we would have zero chance of maintaining it. We moved ahead with the purchase as we didn’t want to lose the money we had already invested. We were both also in the middle of selling our property’s (mine being part exchanged & Luke was selling his house so we were stressed & didn’t push back & challenge what was happening and neither did our solicitor who had been recommended to us by Harron Homes. As the build progressed my dad visited site one afternoon around the time 109 had already completed in august 2019 and noticed the rear fence has been erected as per the original plans to the wall of 109. He spoke to the site manager who was adamant it was correct & in the right place. Our local building control inspector carried out the CML check on 2nd or 3rd October & then we completed on Friday 4th (building control have confirmed they were not made aware the fence was to be moved at the time of the inspection) The owners of 109 also made harron aware the fence was in the wrong position yet it remained there until after our completion. On Monday 7th October the site manager told us he had been working to the wrong plans & the fence was to be moved. This happened 3 weeks later. As our property is lower down than next doors house our boiler flue outlet now discharges directly onto 109 land at head height as a result of the fence move. Prior to this & as per the old plans the boiler would have discharged into our own boundary & with this area being fenced off no-one would actually be walking there only for maintenance purposes. 109 informed us 3 months after we completed that our flue outlet was on their snag list & they wanted it moving. I contacted harron displaying our frustration on 25th January this year that due to them changing the position of the fence after building control had signed the property in October. I also contacted LABC & NHBC who said it was a boundary dispute as the flue outlet was building compliant at the time of completion. I received a reply from HH customer services team on 30th January advising me they could only accept defects from customers who own the property & with regards to the boiler flue they had spoken to the contracts manager who said it had been passed off by local building control & a certificate would need to have been issued to harron for them to sell the property to us. Now 9 months & a site meeting later we are no further. Due to these mistakes we have informed Harron we want compensation before the flue outlet is moved. Harron are still to acknowledge the mistakes they have made or apologise to us. The land registry documents are also incorrect. Harron have included the strip of land in the transfers to both properties...yet another error on their part. I will write a follow up review in a months time advising if we have made any further progress.

TrustpilotBilsthorpe Chase - HH not quality or luxury!! SHODDY HOMES
Bilsthorpe Chase, PLOT 112PLEASE SEE OUR PHOTOS ON HARRON HOMES - BILSTHORPE CHASE REVIEWS SITE. OH AND GUESS WHAT!? THEY ARE NOT MEMBERS OF THE NEW HOMES OMBUDSMAN (NHOS). WE WONDER WHY THAT IS! UPDATE 23/12/24: Another example of their shoddy workmanship. The utility step literally fell of this afternoon. It looks like it’s been constructed by incompetent contractors. Please see photo numbers 34-36 on Harron Homes - Bilsthorpe Chase Reviews site to see for yourself. Well done Harron Homes 👏 you must be so proud of your stunning, high quality properties. We purchased our house on the 31st October 2024. The main issues we have had are as follows:-• leak under the sink and no jubilee clip. It’s taken three attempts to stop the leak. • the WiFi controller that controls the central heating hasn’t worked from day one. It was never demonstrated how to use the APP. The site manager confirmed when we moved in that he was supposed to go on a training course which never materialised. It’s difficult to obtain technical support at ESI Controls. We are having to use the heating manually which isn’t an ideal situation. Why have modern tech if it’s not fit for purpose and no one on site has a clue how to operate it. • low pressure upstairs. Hardly had any pressure in the system and water barely flowing. It made having a shower or a bath difficult. It took too long to fill. We were told the part had been ordered by the site manager. After 3 weeks of waiting and speaking to Head Office my husband managed to speak to the onsite plumber who remedied the situation. If we hadn’t have spoken to him about it we would have been waiting a further 3-6 weeks. • the tiles in ALL bathrooms are shocking. Grout all over the tiles and not just a small area. Our tiles certainly don’t look very sparkly like they advertise in their show homes. Please feel free to contact us and we will happily send you photographs. • paint all over the door handles and hinges. Some are worse than others.• brown stain on the living room carpets where the contractors haven’t take their shoes off. • sticky labels still on the windows that’s not been removed and scratches on majority of the glass panels. • reported to the site managers the fact that the glass bath shower screen making an horrendous noise and the rubber seal not sitting on the bath. It’s folding under and getting stuck. We were told by Head Office that they wouldn’t be covering it as it’s not classed as a defect/snag. Seriously! We have had no end of issues.. too many to list on here. When we raised all the issues we’ve been experiencing with Head Office they abruptly informed us that their main priority is dealing with customers who have had serious issues with water leaks. Thank you for pointing that out. You really know how to make customers of Harron Homes feel valued. The review is our honest opinion of Harron Homes. Don’t get me wrong their homes are very well thought out, aesthetically pleasing and the location is lovely but the lack of attention to detail, craftsmanship and products are not to a high standard as advertised and marketed. Mr and Mrs D, PLOT 112 BILSTHORPE CHASE I’ve removed the name of the person that I spoke to at Head Office in order for you not to remove my review! Please don’t send a generic email saying we’ve been unable to locate you. We don’t put our full name as we are very private people. You have our plot number. UPDATEI’ve had cleaning contractors come out this morning to clean the tiles and uncovered their shoddy workmanship. We’ve uncovered a cracked tile that they’ve covered with grout to hide it, the tiles are not level in the shower cubicle and the grout is not white but a dirty brown colour. I’ve tried to upload a photo but it doesn’t let you on here. Shame then you could see for yourselves. We wished we would have stayed clear of buying a Harron Home when we saw the sign ‘Horror Homes’ that a customer had placed outside their house.

TrustpilotA Beautiful House
Just completed yesterday and spent the first evening in our lovely new home at Oaklands Heath. What a great experience we have had. Debbie and Jacqui couldn't have been more helpful in the process of moving and getting everything sorted. Jason is an absolute star and wants to have everything perfect for anyone moving in, an excellent team. If all moves were like this I wouldn't have left it 20 years. Definitely not the same experience we had 20 years ago moving into a new build when things just weren't finished. Only wish we'd been in sooner but due to covid have had to wait, but well worth the wait.

TrustpilotGenuine review
Pre completion - 10/10. Cannot do enough for you! 6 months post completion - 2/10. Also worth noting, they haven't signed up to quality checks through the new homes ombudsman service, so aren't registered with those. Which means if you have a problem, the ombudsman can't fight your corner. Take from that whatever you wish. I wish I had never bought our Haron Home property, it has been one problem after another, and for our entire 6 months of owning, we have found fault after fault. Not general 'house settling' snags (which are to be expected), but negligence. - Our living room carpet had to be replaced due to workmen damaging this. When I raised this to someone at site, I was told "oh yes, I noticed that and flagged it, did they not sort it?" So they knew about this before we completed, yet decided to not sort it when the house was empty, but in fact sort it once they had our £ at the inconvenience of us, to remove all furniture again. - Our Utility room flooring has been replaced already. Reason being? Haron Homes did not attach our washing machine waste pipe for our integrated washing machine. The flooring was then damaged when the washing machine had to be removed (also by HH) to attach this.- We have had our kitchen wall and ceiling replastered. This is due to shoddy plumbing work in the bathroom, leaking into the kitchen. The independent emergency plumber who visited asked if a 3 year old had done the pipework.- Which brings me on to the bathroom! We have had to have our bathroom wall back to brick to repair the shoddy work. The plumber FROM THE COMPANY HARON HIRE refused to take ownership on the phone to his boss, saying 'absolutely no way this is my work, not a chance I do work like this'.- We had a hole in our roof.- Our heating was connected back to front so the wrong thermostat controlled the wrong part of the house. - I complained a room in our house was 4-5 degrees colder than the rest of the house (it sits at a max of 16 degrees at all times unless the heating is at 22+ everywhere else). I was told 'its because it is above the garage'. What a load of rubbish! An operative from Haron Homes lifted the carpet slightly. THE FLOORBOARD IS NOT BIG ENOUGH FOR THE ROOM! THERE IS A LITERAL HOLE ACROSS THE ENTIRE SIDE OF THE ROOM! No insulation in there to stop the cold air seeping through, no expanding foam. 0 effort to repair the fault. Just a carpet placed on top. I have asked when this will be sorted as it is costing us a fortune in heating in the middle of winter. No reply. And if you try to complain about the above? You get nowhere! I complained in OCTOBER and all I have had, is a ridiculous 'your case worker is working on this'. I complained on Linkedin to the MD, he rang me once to say he was reviewing the file (on the 15th November). Nothing since.Honestly, I am all for 'houses have snags' in fact, none of the above snags were raised by our snagger that we got in (aside from the hole in the roof) - he raised another 117 of them. Minor, cosmetic snags that you can live with and expect of a new build. What I did not ever expect from a house was holes in floors, new bathrooms, new plastering of kitchens and a company who do not seem to give a hoot. I wish I had avoided Haron Homes. It has made buying and living in our what was once thought to be forever home, a horrendous experience filled with "what next" and dread.*Edit to reply to Haron homes* I emailed Natalie 14/12. No reply. 2 tasks for insulation open, for an issue that isn't to do with insulation. Which you've just emailed me to confirm, 20 days after I told you (your operative told you and I sent photos of!) it wasn't an insulation problem, it's a too short floorboard issue. Now you've given me a date 7.5 weeks in advance to sort the issue out. Which had you listened to me 3 weeks ago, could have been sorted by now. I've had a hole in my floor meaning the room is cold 24/7 and affects the rest of upstairs, throughout the entirety of winter. It's not good enough. I spoke to your MD in November, he said he'd get back to me, no reply. I've tried raising a formal complaint, no reply since initial acknowledgement. I wish my review wasn't an honest one, but it is.

TrustpilotGreat experience from a great team!
Going to review Harron Homes’ properties yesterday was an amazing experience. The friendliness of the sales agents on duty Jeanette (Chesterfield) and the other agent at Temple Normanton was amazing. They exercised patience to respond to all questions and even went past beyond closing to ensure we had all we needed to leave with in order to make a good decision. My family really hopes to get one of their properties.
