We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience fell short of expectations, and we take all feedback seriously, especially when a client feels so let down. We’d like to provide some context around the events following the completion of your purchase via our agency. Completion took place on Friday, May 23rd at approximately 12:40pm. Jo contacted the seller, who advised that she would vacate by 3, 4pm. Jo explained the importance of timing, and the earliest the seller would agree to was a 3pm handover, and for you to collect the keys held in our office, with the understanding that any remaining keys would be left at the property. Later that afternoon, you contacted us to report that no back door key had been left and that the door had been left unsecured. As you were going away the following day, we understood the urgency. Jo made numerous attempts to contact the seller, leaving several voicemails, but unfortunately received no response. As a result, you arranged a locksmith, and we offered, as a gesture of goodwill, to cover the cost of replacing the back door lock (approximately £75). You also chose to replace the front door lock for your own peace of mind. That evening, we received an email outlining your concerns about the condition the property had been left in. Owen responded early the next morning, before 10am, to acknowledge your concerns and express our shared disappointment. However, as we explained, the condition in which a property is left is the legal responsibility of the seller. From a legal standpoint, any such issues must be taken up with the solicitors involved, as estate agents are not party to the sale contract. We completely understand your frustration, but unfortunately, we have no legal authority to enforce how a seller leaves a property. You kindly provided your bank details on Saturday, and we confirmed the good-will gesture would be processed after the Bank Holiday. Due to a member of the accounts team being away on Tuesday, we informed you of a short delay, and the payment was successfully made the following day as promised. We fully understand how stressful moving can be, especially when things don’t go as planned. We’re truly sorry your first impressions of your new home were disappointing. That said, we must clarify that none of the issues you experienced were caused by our agency, and we believe we acted swiftly, professionally, and in good faith to assist you where possible. We always aim to support buyers and sellers fairly, and while some matters fall outside our control or legal remit, we do our best to go above and beyond, as we attempted to do in this case.
