Avoid at all costs
Dear Jonathan, Thank you for leaving a review. Having looked into your recent communication with us, we feel we should clarify the existing position. - You reported that you had a blocked toilet and had been unsuccessful in your attempts to clear it. We advised you that we can approach your landlord for permission to send a contractor out to assess and deal with the issue. We also advised you that, if the contractor found the blockage to be caused through unnatural causes, it was likely that your landlord would ask you to cover the cost of the contractor’s bill, as it is not a landlord’s responsibility to remedy issues caused as a result of a tenant misuse. You agreed and confirmed you were happy for us to seek permission from your landlord to send out a contractor. Your landlord agreed and a contractor was sent. - The contractor resolved the issue within the same day. In their report, they stated that the blockage had been caused by non-degradable cosmetic wipes and sanitary products that had been incorrectly disposed of. - Even though we advised you from the outset that, if the contractor found the blockage to be caused through unnatural causes, your landlord may ask that you pay the cost of the contractor’s time and efforts, you have refused to pay it and have indicated that you will only pay it if your landlord instructs court proceedings against you. In conclusion, we do not consider our actions (or the actions of your landlord) to be unreasonable. If you would like to make further representations regarding the matter, we would welcome them and ask that you e-mail us via feedback@cpshomes.co.uk. Kind regards, The CPS Homes Team.
