Steals your money

Burton branch.Looked for a rental property, they were quite pushy with getting me to apply, pay a holding deposit and getting details to them, that part, although made me feel pressured was not so much of an issue, its part of their job. However, I was unable to get a suitable guarantor and they instead said I could pay 12 months rent upfront, which was a ridiculous amount and I explained I couldn’t afford that. They were understanding, which I appreciated. I was due to have my holding deposit of £167 refunded (as I did not breach any terms and therefore, legally the money should be refunded) at first I was told “within a week”, then “5-10 days” the time went by and no refund. I was told “within 2 days, it has been actioned”. 4 days later still no refund and my emails are being ignored. Its been 2 weeks now and no refund, I shouldn’t have to chase for my money! I have raised a complaint with head office and will be taking this further. Will never trust them again.

I would have put zero stars if I could, if you want sell your property, please go elsewhere as they lowered the price of my property without consulting me and very very very poor photography does not show the potential of the house avoid at all cost.

This agency has let me down two times already, they have aranged two appointments with me but with two different houses to view for rent. Then when i check on the website to have a look at the houses they have already been rented out and no one even told me or mentioned anything to me about it, the first time i thought they migh have just forgetten because we are all human, but the second time it was just a lack of responsibility and professionalism, i would never ever contact this agency again, if i see a house listed by this agency i will be avoiding it straight away because they are so unreliable. It Maybe might not be the agencys fault but the staff that work there. At the end of the day people are trying to find somewhere to live and this isnt fair.

Rude & unprofessional

Had my property for sale with another agent. Burchell Edwards got in touch with me as they must have seen my house up for sale. They were very pushy, & made me feel very uncomfortable. One of the instances I was called by an overexcitable young sales person. I told him that the nonsense they were talking and the way in which they “sales pitched at me” had put me off the company as a whole. I asked him then and there to not contact me again. They continued over the last few weeks to try to contact me. 3 different phone numbers contacting me at different times, way too frequently for my liking. Very intrusive and annoying. I was ignoring their calls and answerphone messages, they just wouldn’t take the hint. Just ended up ringing back to tell them to stop calling. & ended up having a row with a guy who was extremely rude and very unprofessional. Needless to say, moving forward, I’ll never go anywhere near this company.

Avoid rude and unprofessional !!!!!

As a landlord I found them unprofessional and very rude, not calling me back, not passing on messages from my tenants and then once you do get through to someone they either do not know what they are doing or they are very, very rude. Once I decided to take my properties else where I was told with an attitude, I have to give 6 months notice to leave ! They have also sold me services that were very bad like a Zero Deposit scheme and the tenant reviews just say N/A on most of the questions !

Contempt and lack of care for the buyer

I don't know if this is indicative of real estate agents in general, but the lack of due diligence done on a vendor meant we were seriously disappointed twice. First time vendor pulled out. Same seller then came back to us through Burchell Edwards (Burton on Trent) to ask if we were still interested. They had changed their mind. They then failed to instruct their solicitor for nearly a month even though it was meant to be a quick cash sale. Burchell said they're not responsible for what the seller claims. They have ignored my email since and knowing the vendor messed us about twice (we lost vast amounts of money), they now continue to sell the property after we pulled out due to lack of action. This is totally contemptuous and shows a complete lack of care and respect for the buyer.

Appalling service and that's a compliment. They never answer the phone or return calls. Gave them my house to sell but they failed on everything. Took weeks to arrange photographs then lost them for weeks. Waited weeks for a sale board to be told we had refused it (never did). Told me the property was live on the net, had to go to the shop to find they had forgotten to upload it. Missed loads of detail about the property which I had to point out. NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE. Guys if you don't answer when I call, you're not answering potential buyers either. Decided to cancel the contract as it wasn't fit for purpose. Except, they have messed around and dragged it out. They (Carl especially) us a total waste of time Avoid this company if you want to sell your house

Didn't end up using for our house sale/buy, but impressed with all we dealt with. Honest, helpful and especially have to mention Naamah who did everything she could to secure our business for the mortgage side. Very close to getting us but in the end it was a decision to stay where we were. But seriously considered it, not a rejection as just a choice to not change. All the best to all going forward.

ABsolute shambles from start to finish…

ABsolute shambles from start to finish as a potential buyer. Went to view a property they were selling in Chelmsley (an area I know well and that has a number of roads that are non-standard construction). I arrive at the viewing to be `welcomed` by the least enthusiastic sales person I have ever met. Grunted a greeting at me and barely opened the door for me to view. 'Is the property standard construction?' I ask. 'Yes, it is', says grunty. I like the property and make an offer to be told the next day that, actually, now he has double checked the property is non-standard construction and unmortgagable! That's OK, I say, I've got £100k lying around doing nothing so why don't we use that. NOT! Must be licence to print money at the moment being an estate agent if this is anything to go by. When I asked why they don't tell potential buyers the status of the property from the outset he then blamed it on the poor little old guy who is selling the property saying that he didn't want to put people off! Disgraceful service from start to finish.
