Two months ago I went to view a property to rent in Simonsbath on Exmoor. I was shown around a spacious bungalow and decided there and then that I would apply to rent it. I was told that there were two other parties applying and that all of our applications would be sent to the landlord. I didn't hear anything for a week, so I called Stags to enquire as to whether a decision had been made. I was told that the landlord was very apologetic about the delay, and a decision was imminent. Another week went by and again I called, and received more or less the same update. After more time had gone by, I searched on Rightmove/Zoopla/OnTheMarket for a different property. But I found that the bungalow I had applied for at Simonsbath was still being advertised, even though there were three parties had applied and were being considered by the landlord. Not only that, but the photos had also been updated as there were no kitchen appliances in the original photos. A day later I received an e-mail from the Tiverton office of Stags, stating that they were extremely sorry about the delay, but it was basically the landlords fault. I responded to this e-mail, stating that they were actually also to blame, and that they were working with the landlord for alternative applicants, and that their advert had been updated. Needless to say, I have never heard from them since. I have dealt with other letting agents, who have had the manners to keep me updated, and to tell us straight away if our application was unsuccessful, and not been lied to. As far as I know we still have a live application submitted, but two months on we have settled into a nice cottage in South Wales, where the agent told us within two hours that we had been successful applying. So Stags, please take this review as a termination of our application, you are extremely unprofessional, have no compassion towards customers at a stressful time, and are dishonest.

A big thanks for the wonderful team especially Jackie and Tess at Stags Exeter. They were polite, professional, helpful, friendly, and a real pleasure to work with. At best agents can be 'dream makers' and creating the possibility of finding your perfect home and in this case they made that happen. Stags are also very methodical too, in the package they give and inventory check from start to finish. Each person i speak to at Stags I have had the same great service and experience. We just completed on a sale in Bridport and chose Stags as we had bought our house with Martin Bowen-Ashwin previously and had been very impressed with all the help and support he had given us. The experience this time was equally impressive with the whole team in the office being very friendly, knowledgeable and offering help whenever needed. Communication was excellent - someone always available on the phone and very quick responses to emails. Stags provide someone to show prospective buyers around your house and our experience was that this was always done very well. Martin chased every aspect of the sale up regularly and updated us. Everything went very smoothly from start to finish. We have experience of several estate agents from previous moves and from our purchase on this occasion. None come even close to the quality of Stags. We just can't praise them highly enough and wish every estate agent could be as good.

Not only did it take many attempts to get the representative to actually turn up and value my property for rental, but even after they did, they have ignored me since and not actually replied with any validation or report. I have chased the representative several times and even the general enquiries several times over the last six months but have had zero replies. A terrible company with non-existent customer service.

We recently sold and purchased our new property with Stags, the Dulverton branch in Somerset and the Wadebridge branch in Cornwall respectively. There were major problems and delays throughout, all of which were caused by one firm of solicitors. Both branches of Stags were truly amazing, our local branch, Dulverton went way beyond what anyone would have expected. Communication was great at all times, and I simply can not explain my gratitude and satisfaction to them. I wish I could give 10 stars to both branches. Using Tina Turners words ‘SIMPLY THE BEST!’

great professional service from the Totnes team

On our initial visit to Stags Totnes we were warmly welcomed and all staff were friendly. We have subsequently dealt with the Stags Totnes office over the past few months, both in person, but largely by phone and online due tour remote location from the office and they were very helpful and professional. We dealt initially with Imogen but sometimes in her absence, Luke dealt with our enquiries and was fully up to speed with our house purchase. Equally important is the friendly, professional way the telephone is answered and swiftly put through to the correct person or someone who can handle the query. Well done to all.

Worst estate agent stags Dartmouth/Totnes

Worst estate agent! They're only interested in getting the money from the tenant and not if someone has a complaint about the tenant. Have had a nightmare since the new tenants have moved in, noisy at all times of night. Cooking very smelly foods at all hours, knowing there is an issue with ventilation. My personal belongings have now been ruined as the food smells have stuck dispite washing ect. Smoking in the property despite it being against the tenancy agreement. Stags have done the bare minimum to solve any of this. They have now stopped replying to my emails as they clearly don't want to bother with me or the issues now. If you are thinking about letting out your property don't use stags, they will essentially let the tenants ruin your property despite multiple complaints from multiple residents. Have had to get the council involved about the noise as stags don't want to know!

They just wasted my time. Plymouth branch sent someone to do written valuation for Court of Protection requirement, which was explained to them before they came. They came & did a good job for a verbal valuation BUT then failed to deliver a promised report or communicate properly with my attempts to obtain said report over the next month or so!

Unbelievably bad experience

Luke from Stags Totnes came to visit my property a week ago ( Wed 26th March ) to carry out a valuation. I made an error with the time of the appointment however it made no difference to the appraisal as I was at home anyway. I was not informed at any point that the response would take so long.
