Buying a home can be a stressful experience, but Louise, Rebecca, and the entire team at Jackson-Stops made the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible. From the very beginning through to completion, they were with me every step of the way, offering guidance, reassurance, and exceptional support. Communication was absolutely top-tier. Poor service

Asked to view a property on Bures Road and was told I had to provide proof of funds before even being allowed a viewing. I understand proof of funds is needed at offer stage but demanding it just to view a house is unnecessary and comes across as rude and intrusive; the tone felt more like an interrogation. And for clarity, questioning an asking price is not the same as being unable to afford a property. In a previous transaction, we declined to overpay for a house we did not believe was worth its asking price, and it later sold for significantly less. That is a valuation judgement (a mistake by the same agent), not a funding issue. In any case, the interaction felt dismissive, rather than professional. Plenty of other agents manage to handle high-value properties professionally without treating potential buyers like time wasters. So choosing to take my business elsewhere.

Wouldn’t recommend!

Wouldn’t recommend! I have raised several concerns about one of their tenants, to Helen & the MD but nothing has been done. Emails are ignored or replied to months later with inadequate excuses, since they moved in in December 2025! I am writing this review at 4 am, having been kept up until 11 pm with the 8 year old child screaming like a banshee again and now being woken up with him banging around the house! I have lived at my property for four years, and the last year has been a total nightmare!

Patronising and dishonest

I initially approached this company after viewing a property they were marketing and considering making an offer. However, I was told they wouldn’t take on my own property as it was “outside their remit.” This didn’t appear accurate, as I’ve since seen them advertise several similar properties in my local area, both in size and value. When I challenged this, they reluctantly agreed to proceed. Unfortunately, their overall manner came across as rude, patronising, and unprofessional, which did not inspire confidence. As a result, I decided to instruct another estate agent.

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY WITH YOUR PERSONAL DATA! As renter Jackson Stops decided to share my employer details & work email address with all the residents of the block of flats I lived in. Which lead to another resident using my work email, this was previously unknown to the other residents. When questioned they felt this was a minor data breach and not worthy to be referred to the ICO, as it was a staff mistake which was OK! Six months arter moving out of the property Jackson Stops felt it was appropriate to give my personal telephone number to a contractor to organise repairs to the flat I had moved out from, Jackson Stops did not believe this was a data breach they said it was an “inconvenience”. I thought six months after leaving the property they would not be giving my personal data out without my consent ! DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!

I recently had a challenging experience with Jackson Stops Agency regarding necessary repairs to my flat that required me to vacate temporarily. Initially, my attempt to address the issue was frustrating. When I called the agency, I was met with an unhelpful and hurried response from a staff member who informed me that the rental team was in a meeting. She didn't allow me to explain my situation and instead provided me with the email address of someone who was on annual leave, which added to my anxiety and frustration.However, my experience took a turn for the better when I spoke with Jess Lynagh. Jess was incredibly kind and understanding. She listened to my concerns attentively and assured me that she would take care of the situation. My nightmare thanks to Jackson Stops

UPDATE - thank you to the chairman of Jackson Stops for calling me. Unfortunately leaves me even more frustrated. Not willing to reimburse me for to not delivering our contract but an admission that processes will be reviewed going forward…… I employed Jackson Stops to let my home to an honest, trustworthy, professional individual. I am not a career landlord but needs must whilst I worked away and I trusted the experience of the agent and that my verbal instructions that were met with many assurances would be delivered. I went with this business as had great service when they sold my property but the sale unfortunately collapsed so I felt duty bound to give them the business on the lettings side. The organisation seemed professional and has a great reputation in the area. I was explicit in my instructions and this was met with many assurances. The tenant stopped paying rent 2 months into the tenancy and although helpful at first, Jackson Stops have turned their back on my predicament and ‘closed the file’ . The tenant was actively recommended and championed by the agent whilst others were discounted. The agent wrote he ‘expected the references to come back perfectly’ even though at that time they hadn’t been referenced. I now realise huge red flags weren’t picked up on the applications, information that only the agent had. Now I have sight after the fact, I am wondering how this ever got passed an experienced Director of the business. Perhaps due to the preconceived idea the tenant was ‘ a nice young woman ‘ and ‘perfect’ . As they got paid but didn’t achieve what we’d agreed and are wholly responsible for my financial and emotional stress, I reached out to JS to give them an opportunity to do the right thing. I asked for a gesture from them to help with the mounting costs to recover my home and was flabbergasted to a polite but firm refusal. I am now 6 months into this nightmare with only Jackson Stops ( and the non paying tenant) benefitting from the whole horrid situation. I was told by the Director responsible that Jackson Stops have never had a situation like the one I face. Perhaps this has led them to complacency and why the obvious flaws in the applications weren’t picked up. I accept JS used a third party to reference and I was privy to the ‘pass’ document but that was all we had, that and being led by the agents recommendation. Him being the only one who had met the applicant and the only one with sight of all information. In a recent conversation the director admitted he had noticed potentially fraudulent information had been given. Had he shared this knowledge, we wouldn’t have progressed. I go back to my instructions, I required an honest, trustworthy, professional tenant. There is copious information in the public domain on this individual, again that only the agent had access to at that time that suggested the risk was high my instructions and a happy outcome for their client (me) was not going to be achieved. I maintain that JS were duty bound to give me all the information, regardless of the positive reference result. Beware!! Ask questions, don’t be swayed by a ‘pass’ based on the most basic of checks and don’t allow the agents opinion to sway you as even though you expect due diligence and impartiality, this particular agent may not deliver that for you as they certainly didn’t for me.

Jackson Stop has been absolutely fantastic with our move especially as this move was particularly difficult. The patience and professional attitude was very much appreciated. Anthony was always calm when things seemed to be chaotic, and Tracey would continually smile and accompany potential buyers with enthusiasm and understanding.They always showed possible buyers around the property and would return feed back from those viewings. A great experience from start to finish!

We purchased a house earlier this year through Jackson-Stops. Rosanna, who, was our first point of contact was exceptional throughout the whole process, from viewing until the day we completed. She was professional, kind and managed to guide us through a tricky few months and reassure both myself and my husband, with the house sale (which took much longer than anticipated). The icing on the cake was a lovely gift bag on the day we moved in, which was completely unexpected but a really nice touch. I would not hesitate to recommend Rosanna and her colleagues from the Bury branch to anyone looking to sell their home or use their services.
