Not all estate agents are the same. JDW are in a league of their own.

JD Wood are professional, but they go much further than just that. From the first appraisal they gave us confidence, no 'flannel 'or 'blarney. JDW made arrangements professionally and kept us in touch, always gave us feedback, they did everything you should take for granted, but so often get let down on, it's how they work. The staff we met were 'long-termers', they probably stayed for a reason, and their longevity meant they were really experienced. We were looked after by two offices and we didn't notice until Adrian mentioned he was from Parsons Green office, whilst our house was in Fulham and we'd met people from that local office. That seamlessness was important. I'd telephone for an update, whether Fulham or Parsons Green, if the person I needed wasn't there whoever else answered the phone knew our property, knew the current status, and was completely informed. Once more this is not the norm in our experience. Whilst Adrian had the buyer for us and helped this go through smoothly it is important to know that everyone we spoke to was enormously helpful and it was clearly a team effort. Everything was super professional right through exchange of contracts and leading up to completion, we were extremely happy we had gone with JDW. They're not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for and with the biggest transactions most of us do in our lives you can easily be 'penny wise, pound foolish'. We certainly had value for money. Then...... disaster strikes..... and that's where 'going a step further' than normal stunned me. We're moving, the furniture has gone in the van, and a leak springs downstairs, dripping through the ceiling. It's Thursday, we complete on Monday (legally bound to!) I called with the bad news. A calm and collected response; "Our letting team have people who do maintenance, let's see what we can do". Enter Stephen from the Fulham office (who is head of sales, actually, not lettings, but this is clearly a real 'team business'). He told me "Don't worry, I've got a guy who's going to go round, he's good, I know him, we'll sort it out". Frankly I've heard that sort of thing too many times , I was nervous. How wrong was I. The plumber did what was needed, by Saturday everything was fixed, dried out, and someone was round sanding the area of new plaster on the ceiling. I didn't lift a finger, it was all organised by JDWood. Photos of the work were sent to the new owners who were graciously happy. Now, that's going the extra distance. And we still had two days breathing space. You don't choose an estate agent because they can fix a leak. But it just shows what I mean. Up to that point they'd been the most professional folk I'd dealt with, and a really well organised team that played as a team. But then they created a new league and leapt into it. All completed well, the new owners got in and were happy. A nightmare turned into a nothing (but gratitude). JD Wood made it all happen. They went the extra mile or league or whatever it needed. Not just Adrian and Stephen, but everyone there. You will not be disappointed by JD Wood, you will be delighted. All estate agents are not the same, and JDW are the best.

I was looking for a tenant for my house…

I was looking for a tenant for my house at 30 Orville Road in Battersea and contacted J D Wood on Battersea Park Road. I dealt with Joshua Mugume and received an excellent service. He is extremely professional and really knows the rental market around Battersea. While the tenant that he found did ultimately not proceed with renting my property, Joshua went out of his way to inform me about progress at all times and continued to search for a suitable tenant for me. As I am only looking for short term or corporate tenants, the market situation for such rentals was not favourable at the beginning of the year but I shall continue to work with Joshua again in the future to secure a tenant. I can highly recommend Joshua’s professional assistance, he is a breath of fresh air and while this may not be relevant, he is one of the best dress estate agents I have worked with in years!

Extremely Unprofessional

Extremely Unprofessional and Disrespectful Experience with Munroe Graham I had one of the most frustrating experiences with Munroe Graham. I viewed a property and placed an offer within two hours. My offer was accepted the same afternoon, and I immediately transferred a holding deposit. The next day, the agent became practically unreachable, I had to keep calling and texting just to get any updates. I was told there were some “issues with the landlord” but that everything was sorted and not to worry. Despite those reassurances, I was never sent a tenancy agreement, even though I was supposed to move in the following week. On the third day, after I had already turned down other offers based on their word, I received an email, not even a phone call, telling me the deal was off and that my money would be refunded. The reason given was that the landlord had fallen ill, which makes little sense since the property was empty when I viewed it. Even if that were true, the lack of professionalism was shocking. There was no respect, no communication, and no accountability throughout the process. I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before dealing with Munroe Graham.

Unprofessional and frustrating

My experience with this letting agency has been disappointing. Communication was consistently poor, and I often had to follow up multiple times to receive even the most basic updates, whether it related to urgent maintenance issues or my tenancy deposit. Throughout my time in the property, I found myself repeatedly having to chase responses. There was very little initiative shown on their part, and when replies did come, they were often delayed or lacked clarity. It left me feeling like I had to manage things entirely on my own. Even now, months after the end of my tenancy, I am still waiting for my deposit to be returned, with no clear communication or resolution provided. It's unfortunate to have had such a stressful experience.

No no-obligation market appraisal

Lisa Knight, Head of Sales in the Beckenham branch posted a letter to me dated the 17th February. It said, “If you would like to arrange a no-obligation market appraisal, please do not hesitate to get in touch..” I rang the office and made an appointment for the 7th of March. I was clear that I was not putting the house on the market right now. Fifteen minutes before the appointment on the 7th March Lisa rang and asked if I still wanted a market appraisal and I said, “Yes, please.” I am in my 70s and had spent days tidying and rearranging furniture! Lisa arrived at the door and I took her around the house but she didn’t measure the rooms, which surprised me. She said it was a unique house and she couldn’t give me an off the cuff appraisal so would Monday do. I don’t have an English accent but I have lived in the UK since Harold Macmillan was Prime Minister so I am aware when someone is taking the micky but let it pass. In the past estate agents have valued this house without the passive aggressive tones I’m now feeling. I said that would be fine. I am not thinking of selling this house right now but at my age who knows what the future will bring? My family were interested in knowing and they will likely be dealing with selling it. Lisa did not send me an appraisal or reply to the short email I sent her at Monday close of business. She didn’t note anything during the entire visit but I am a trusting soul and thought it would be general. I get letters all the time from estate agents, including today, as the road is convenient. Countrywide Estate Agents must be very aggressive with their employees if Lisa found my request so insulting.
