GoogleWe were very happy with the service provided by William H Brown. Steve was very accommodating in meeting us before the office opened on one occasion and also gave us good advice in terms of contacting trades people.
Despite being extremely busy, Oana made the effort to get to know us personally, was always really warm and amenable even when we were pestering her, always kept her promises in terms of keeping us informed, and she was the perfect go-between in terms of us, the vendor and solicitor. She really seemed to care.

GoogleI was delighted to use WH Brown Unthank Road to conclude the sale of my mother's property from an original short list of four agents
After an initial 'time waster' and the first agreed sale falling through we were quickly introduced to a new purchaser and the sale concluded pretty quickly. Selling as POA was not without it's difficulties in ticking all the boxes and providing the correct paperwork but throughout the process I was kept fully informed where I am sure the Unthank Road team spent many hours unbeknown to me to pull things together.
I would like to thank Stephen, Oana & Alex for their professionalism and understanding during the sale process in what had been our family home for over 70 years !!

GoogleAs first time buyers we bought our property from William H Brown and if it wasn’t for Oana (who is an asset to the team), it probably wouldn’t have been a 3 star review.
Unfortunately there were lots of communication issues, we arranged a viewing after our offer was accepted and the assistant turned up with the ‘keys’ although they weren’t our keys at all because the keys were actually missing which we discovered after waiting for 40 minutes outside the property as they went back to check. Not directly their fault - more of a general office organisation issue. If they had checked this before going out to our viewing we could have avoided waiting for 40mins and having parents travel. Turns out our surveyor still had the keys after four weeks (faulty on his part) however the keys we then found out were never signed out, which could have avoided the issue completely. We had to chase to get to the bottom of where they were.
A couple of issues with booking in contractors for quotes, a lot of back and forth being told they were booked in and they weren’t so had to reschedule a couple of times, or asked to change times. One poor roofer was told by the estate agents he wouldn’t need the keys to access the back of the property - which he did. So he had to go back a second time to do a full quote.
We then had issues with conducting an electrical report, our solicitors were pushing for the sellers to do a report. We dropped it on the basis that we were given permission to conduct our own with an electrician of the family. As we were told by WHB this was all granted and a date was arranged. A couple of days after the report we were then sent a harsh email from the sellers solicitor saying that we didn’t have permission, we provided evidence of our communication with WHB. We then complained to WHB as assuming it was a communication issue on their end or they didn’t actually ask the sellers, who knows. We never had an apology or acknowledgment of the issue.
Last issue, unfortunately on collecting the keys we were given 30 keys for the property (lots of different sets) however, they were all attached to the same key ring, with no labels only a tag saying the house name and WHB. As you can imagine we had a lot of difficulty finding the keys to enter the property, so much so we had to go round the back and then try to figure out where the front key was. Nothing was working so meant our first day with the keys was very disappointing. And we’re never going to be first time buyers again so really damped the experience. WHB offered to help the next day after I sent an email with my complaint however we got to the bottom of it ourselves. On reflection if a separate set were put together (not attached to various other sets of keys) and possibly labelled as there are so many, this could have been avoided entirely.
Some lovely staff, Oana and Alex were helpful when required but organisation wise and efficiency from the whole team, really let us down.

Anne Luby has been amazing from the very beginning. She took the time to arrange regular Teams meetings, which made the whole experience feel much more personal. As a first time buyer, I had absolutely no idea where to start and was a complete novice who felt out of her depth, but Anne guided me through every step of the process.

GoogleStephen is slimy, dishonest, unprofessional, unpleasant, rude and all around the epitome of why estate agents are detested.
Every single dealing with Stephen Creed was horrible. He made the experience of buying the house with them so deeply unpleasant i wish we had not engaged with them.
Stephen - buying a house for the first time is a big deal for people. They don't need a greasy slimeball of a used car salesman type absolutely polluting every single interaction with his poor communication. Just be polite and friendly, it's not difficult, you're not personally invested, so don't be petulent, rude, and combative!
Whether it was emails or phone calls, you were utterly appalling at your job. I guess that goes with the territory of being an estate agent - nobody wants you, but we're stuck with you and you know it, so you don't give a damn about doing a good job.
I'm sorry for the other people who have to work with Stephen. I can't imagine he's popular in the office if his conduct with clients is anything to go by. if you're thinking of selling you do not want this Wormwood trying to sell your home as he will absolutely represent you in the worst possible light.

TrustpilotPLEASE STEER WELL CLEAR!!
Poor communication, false promises from sales, lettings and mortgage services. Started off great but once they've had your money they don't care about resolving any issues. Don't bother with the lifetime membership as you'll have to do all the work yourself. Don't bother with management services for letting a property either, they won't tell you about any problems and they'll let your tenants damage your property and steal from you without any reconciliation measures or compensation. I sold my flat over a year ago and I'm still battling with them and the Zero Deposit scheme to compensate me for my property being stolen and damage that I paid to fix for the new owner out of my own pocket. PLEASE STEER CLEAR, SAVE YOURSELF A HEADACHE!!

TrustpilotAs a tenant this is the worst rental agency I've ever dealt with - expected more from such a big name
As a tenant this is the worst rental agent I've ever dealt with. 1) Difficult to get in touch with - they hardly ever answer the phone. 2) The property was dirty when we moved in, no inventory provided. 3) The property was managed by Sequence Ltd who have provided a very disappointing service - early on we were told (via a phone call and after several weeks of us asking) to arrange for repair of a maintenance issue ourselves and that this could be deducted off our rent afterwards, and that the landlord had instructed this. We never received the refund, they said because they didn't have records of that instruction. Several staff members had started then left during our tenancy which didn't help (we were there for 6 months). 4) We are now having to contact Tenancy Deposit Scheme to get our deposit back relating to a different issue, mostly due to our inadequate landlord who it seems is trying to claim a random amount of money anywhere he might get away with it (we left the property in a cleaner state than when we arrived to try to avoid any possible excuses for deduction from deposit). Sequence Ltd doesn't appear to know about or be bothered about the law and tenant's rights.

This Morning I had Ollie Aston attend my flat for an annual inspection. He was on time as agreed. He took photos for Landlord and was a very pleasant with his customer communication during the visit. I raised a few questions which I hope to hear back. I wish him the success in his employ and rate 5 star service. Overall have dealt with WHB for 6 years always been of a high standard.

TrustpilotI would not trust these people
I would not trust these people, I emailed them to arrange a viewing on a tenanted property, no contact, after a couple of days I called them to arrange a viewing for same property, straight away the sales person tried steering me to another property instead, but I held firm, they said they would get back to me with an appointment, they never did, it’s now sold. They have preferred investors waiting in the background, other sectors would not get away with it.

TrustpilotPoor Customer Service
They rang me on Friday 12th of June and left me a voicemail to call them back to organise viewing a property in Upton that wasn’t clearly listed as being owned by Lomond. I rang them back several times and left voicemails only to be ignored, I then followed up with a second email query also to be ignored. After looking at the property its clearly managed by Lomond, so they have likely liaised with them to blacklist me from renting their properties. This is over one ancient paid off &satisfied CCJ.

TrustpilotKeep pestering me despite house selling months ago
Came to our house for a free valuation before putting it on the market. We went with another agent because we felt William H Brown overvalued our house. We told them as soon as we decided that we wouldn’t be going with them. Since then, they have pretty consistently called me from various offices (local/regional etc) asking to co list with the agent we chose, trying to set up an appt with their in house mortgage advisor, asking if we have found anywhere else, asking how our sale is progressing etc. Our house sold in a week and we had an offer accepted on our new house the following week so we have absolutely no need for any input from William h brown. Yet still, three months later, they call me fortnightly to ask how everything is going, despite me asking them repeatedly to remove my details and any data associated with me. They are dogs with a bone who won’t take no for an answer!

TrustpilotUnprofessional
I dealt with William H brown, Holderness road branch as a tenant. Firstly, they tried to scam me into buying home insurance as an essential requirement of the contract. During the tenancy my landlord was lovely and remained in touch directly, so thankfully I didnt have to deal with them. At the end, I was in huge trouble because WH brown's absolute unprofessionalism. Despite multiple calls and requests they failed to provide references for my next agent. I had no where to go for a week due to this delay. It cost me a fortune! Over a month has lapsed but they have done anything about my deposit. When asked they said to get in touch with the lamdlord directly. Whereas they were the ones processing the deposit collection initially. After sorting it with the landlord myself it was over 2 weeks without any further progress to deposit return. Really a shameful service!! Staff and service all pathetic

GoogleWe had a great experience with William H Brown, specifically Oana, who made the process as easy as it could be for first time buyers - even when it took over 7 months she fought for us when needed and kept the communication open and honest. Really appreciate everything she did and can see she is passionate about her job and making it as easy as possible for buyers (and sellers on the other side too) thanks again for everything!

Its been 5 years since I moved out of a rented property by William H Brown in St Albans and I have not been refunded my holding deposit. I have contacted them severally over the phone and emails and no luck till date. Nothing but radio silence. First I was told the Landlord would be contacted to claim back the £500 or so left after she dubiously claimed damages on the property. They then later pushed it on me to speak chase the landlord to reach an agreement on obtaining my deposit back. I have used a 2026 date on my review because trustpilot doesnt allow you to go all the way back to 2021.

TrustpilotAvoid WH Brown!
Sold my house through W H Brown and they were the worst estate agent I have ever used. Communication was nil, left messages and they didn’t get back at all. Actually went 5 MONTHS with no contact! Sold my house to first viewer for full asking price so they had very little to do.When I complained to head office, they stated the branch had done nothing wrong! Obviously have low standards. Definitely an estate agent to avoid. No wonder they have a poor reputation

TrustpilotCould not have had better service
Went for a viewing on a bungalow back in the Summer and met a lovely lady called Marina from the Kingsley branch. We didn't like the bungalow but, we did like Marina and we put our house sale in her capable hands. She sold our house within a day I think and everything went really well until 6 weeks later, our buyer lost their buyer. However, about 4 weeks later, our buyer found a new buyer and we all set of again. However, due to solicitors not talking to each other and them being particularly hard to get hold off the last month or so of proceedings was very stressful and just made hard by the solicitors. However, Marina and everyone at William Browns worked so, so, so hard getting solicitors to talk and get things done and eventually, we exchanged and completed last week! The team at Kingsley worked so hard for us and went above and beyond our expectations - Marina was our main contact and I can not speak highly enough of her and would love to thank her for her straight forward talking, her honesty and her absolute dedication when it was actually quite hard work!! Thank you Marina and team ☺️ To have full transparency, the reason I could not give 5 stars was due to the solicitors we used which were recommended by William Browns - they were shocking but that does not detract for the amazing service we received

TrustpilotUseless, uncommunicative liars who are after your money.
There is a saying that "Buyers are Liars". Well trust me, our Estate Agents handling the sale of our property were without doubt the worst we have ever had in selling any of our previous properties proving that it isn't the buyers that are the liars but the Estate Agents themselves. I won't name individuals but as a company, William H. Brown of Ely were the worst for Communicating to us in the selling of our property. From the first contact where the then manageress came and visited us to suggest a selling price to the end result of us vacating the property was nothing short of disgusting. Considering they were going to be getting paid a couple of grand for selling our property for us, they did nothing. We did get the odd email and phone call trying to dazzle us with percentages and figures why our property wasn't selling but as I said to the individual calling me, stop making pathetic excuses and sell our property. When we first put our property up for sale at a price suggested by the management, one of the staff rang me and suggested that I should drop my price to get more interest! This was a week after we had it up for sale. I very politely told him no. They changed staff like I changed my grundies, every time we went in to the office someone else had left, hopefully to richer pastures. God help any new staff. All they will learn working in that office will be to lie, ignore your customers and spout BS because that's what we had from them, totally and utterly useless staff acting on our behalf.. The Manager who is in situ now was supposed to working on our behalf but was more focused on our buyers than us and even had the nerve to suggest that we moved into rented accommodation, with a wife, dog, cat and me, put all our possessions in to storage just so that our buyers could move in quickly. Quite disgusting behaviour from the "Manager". He even had the gall to tell us that our buyers wanted to move in on the following Monday and that they had their removals team delivering their possessions on the Tuesday. More lies. What a Pratt! We have now been moved out over a week and we have since found out that the buyers still haven't moved in, so what was all that pushing and prompting about putting us under enormous stress? It all points to him wanting the deal sealed so he could get his monthly bonus. Considering what our Solicitors, Hunt & Coombs did for us, the sheer amount of hard, intense work our Conveyancing Team did and the amount of fees they charged us was paltry compared to what we were charged. So to wrap up my review of William H. Brown, Estate Agents, Ely. We were very sorry we ever got involved with them. I would suggest using caution if you are unlucky enough to use them to sell your property because they don't care about you as a customer, just see you as a cash-cow. They will lie to you, ignore your calls and generally mess you about. I would suggest you use any of the other Estate Agents in Ely because to be honest, none of them could ever be as bad as William H. Brown.

TrustpilotDiddled me OUT OF MY LIFE SAVINGS!
They are lying, cheating thieves. They diddled me out of a large portion of my life savings. They do not care about the catastrophic effects of their actions on local hard-working families and community members. They only care about enriching themselves at the expense of others. Do not engage with them and do not go anywhere near the absolute scam of modern auctions, which they orchestrate via third parties as an obvious attempt to distance themselves from legal responsibility and liability for malpractice.
