Avoid at all costs!! We’ve been renting for 9 years now and have never had any issues with our agencies before, until we met Mac Estates. Every time we had issues at the house they always blamed us for everything, instead of properly investigating each problem. Had we not fought and investigated the issues thoroughly ourselves, we’d have ended up being charged thousands to fix the issues thoroughly- one being a collapsed sewage pipe, and the other is the heating system. Oh, and bare in mind, if your heating system breaks down in the middle of the winter (which happened twice in our case), they won’t bother providing you portable heaters, because a.) they don’t have to provide it if it turns out that the problem is the tenants fault, b.) because they run out of them c.) oh, you have a fireplace, don’t you?? d.) all of the above - in our case. Should you wish to choose Mac Estates, prepare yourself for: - emails from tenants being ignored - not communicating effectively with the landlord and leaving out significant details - not being bothered about whether you have heating or not in the middle of the winter - having to deal with contractors who are ignorant, rude, and extremely unprofessional to say the least - constantly having to prove and defend yourself as a tenant, as they will blame you for any issues that occur at the property An extremely unhappy tenant.

AVOID THIS AGENCY!!! I want to share my frustrating experience with MAC Estates so others can avoid the same hassle. On January 5th, the 1-year-old boiler stopped working. At first, the agency was quick to respond and promised to send a contractor to check it out. The contractor got in touch and asked if I had tried resetting the boiler and when we last ordered oil. I followed his instructions to reset it, but it didn’t fix the issue. He then asked me to check the oil level, even though the electric gauge showed we had a quarter of a tank. When I told him this, he asked me to check it manually, but didn’t explain how. After checking, I confirmed that the oil level was fine and still above the pipe that draws the oil. Despite this, the contractor insisted the issue was low oil, which I suspect was to avoid the £250 emergency call-out fee. MAC Estates accepted this without question and refused to provide any heating, blaming us for the problem. I followed up with calls and emails, asking for a solution, but was ignored. The next morning, I called again, only to be told that the contractor's conclusion was the final word. It wasn’t until I checked the oil with a broomstick and proved there was plenty left that they finally arranged to send a heater and a proper engineer. The engineer came the next day, found that the boiler itself was malfunctioning, and fixed it. This isn’t the first time MAC Estates has been slow and unhelpful. It took three months to fix a roof leak, and since August 2024, we've heard nothing about a ventilation issue in a room where the open fire is, even after someone came to give a quote. We've dealt with other estate agencies before, and they were miles better. MAC Estates has been slow, made poor decisions, and has generally been a pain to deal with. If you’re considering MAC Estates, my advice is simple: look elsewhere. Save yourself the stress and go with a more reliable agency. And to top it off, they’ll probably respond to this feedback by blaming us again, saying we’re difficult tenants to work with. But honestly, we’ve only ever asked for the basics: a warm house and timely repairs.
