Hunters is a joke

I have had experience with Hunters in the past on multiple occasions. I am disappointed everytime from their lack of felixibility. For example if you're trying to rent and your annual income matches but does not excees what is expected by Hunters then they will abruptly cut you off. Also horrible customer service by the staff and do not know what they are doing. On a flat i called twice one staff member told me i had to satisfy an income of 29.000 pounds and another staff member told me i had to exceed 30.000 wich makes me doubt their honesty. I have had much better experiences with other agencies. Do not reccomend.

Adam from Hunters visited us, today, to give us an evaluation on our property. We have been considering whether to sell our home or extend it. The advice and information he gave us will be extremely useful in helping us to reach a decision. He arrived promptly, at the appointed time, was very professional and also extremely careful, with regard to the Covid 19 situation. If we decide to sell, we would not hesitate to choose Hunters as our Estate AgentPositiveProfessionalism

An unfortunate attitude from Hunters

My boyfriend and I were purchasing a property through Hunters and they were pleasant enough. However, when we received the results of the independent survey two months down the line, it highlighted what we considered to be significant problems with the property, particularly the necessity of a whole new roof, and the replacement of brickwork.Naturally, we had not - and could not have - factored in the cost of these repairs, or the time it would take to carry them out, so we emailed our contact at Hunters in Sunderland, simply outlining the issues that the survey had presented, and attaching the report in full. The reply we received explained ‘The seller is not under any obligation to carry out any work or offer a reduction’. While true, this attitude seemed hostile to us, and rather unprofessional. We did not mention a negotiation of price, or the current owners carrying out the work themselves - although, to be frank, these did not seem unreasonable expectations. We had misgivings about how considerable an undertaking the repairs would be, both financially and physically, but were open to discussing options with Hunters/the sellers. However, we decided to withdraw from the sale, and Hunters’ attitude did play a big part in that. As a prospective buyer, you do not have a choice over which estate agent to deal with, but I would certainly be reticent about purchasing a property sold by Hunters in the future, and would strongly advise sellers to consider the overwhelmingly negative reviews on this page before engaging Hunters, as the wrong estate agent could scupper a sale, as in this case.

Dishonest and unprofessional

We drove over 250 miles to view a house listed for let @ £900. We said we like it and were happy to proceed, after all similar properties down south cost £1000 a month….We were absolutely shocked when they got back to us, offering us the house for £1000 because they knew we could afford it… we were aghast! I have never ever encountered such skullduggery and dishonesty…. Of course we declined… how can one deal with such a dishonest estate agent as these!

Waste of time

As working professionals who can rarely get free time during the weekdays, it's extremely annoying to book days off to view properties to find they're by application, and we submitted our application the day we viewed, only to have the application be rejected because it wasn't processed in time before the landlord accepted an alternative application. Not worth the time.

Adam and Ela have a great agency and have delivered with an outstanding service. I'm an investor and speak to a lot of agents on a daily basis, I must say, I very impressed with the team. I have bought one unit and already we have began working towards buying another one. They understand my needs and what I'm looking for. I look forward to doing more business in the future.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

Hunters Horncastle:

Hunters Horncastle:If you are looking for an EA who keeps you updated and informed then I would NOT use Hunters, if you want the privilege of paying for doing your own work then by all means use this EA, also if you want to feel as though the EA is acting on behalf of the buyer instead of the seller… this is the one for you!!! They say the right things to get the initial business and then offer bad advise and never any follow up or conversations about the state of the market during contract period, even when requested. Also emails and WA messages were ignored. Worst Estate Agent I’ve ever used. It seems that Katherine (who did the viewings) and Susan (admin) seem to hold them just above water and do all the donkey work. Just my honest opinion!! Would have given zero rating if possible

We used hunters to put our house up for sale

We used hunters to put our house up for sale in October 2024. Despite a few problems with surveys etc Hunters manged to sell our house to a cash buyer. the communication and updates during the process were very clear and professional. Selling a home is a very stressful experience however hunters helped us throughout the journey

Avoid as a buyer certainly beware you will rarely speak to the same person twice they were quiet happy to inform us our offer was accepted and begin the survey and solicitors fee etc.... only to allow us to be guzumped by another buyer without warning or giving chance to counter. As a buyer there is a large chance you will needlessly lose money. Values and ethics are very low down on the company agenda everyone has a different set of circumstances after our dealings with hunters they would happily leave you up the creek for the sake of a percentage

Jamie · 26 October 2019

Agent replied · 24 October 2024

Hi Jamie, really sorry you didn't get the house it is always really difficult when someone comes in with a late higher offer. It is also difficult for us, we "legally" have to put all offers forward to the owners, it isn't about extra percentages it is just about staying within the law. There was nothing we could do in your case, we had to put the offer forward. As soon as we got the offer we called you and spoke to you regarding the offer. If only we had the Scottish system where accepted offers are binding! Unfortunately until there is a change in the law more people will lose out as you have done and there is nothing we can do to stop it. I hope you find something else and all the best for the future, Adam.

Before using Hunters to let my properties, I had written off the idea of estate agents' letting services as I'd found them disappointing and poor value for money. Having used Hunters to find tenants and move them in, I would never go back. They are absolutely everything I would expect and more besides. Professional, friendly, efficient, value for money, and they go beyond the call of duty to make things run smoothly. My mind is completely at ease knowing they are looking after the tenants' and my interests. Fantastic service and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to other landlords.

I was buying a house through hunters

I was buying a house through hunters, wasn’t the best experience in the world. When it came to getting the keys from the bishop Auckland office, I was told to wait outside in the cold for 15 minutes, then presented with 1 key by itself, there was no congrats on your first home or any welcome gifts or anything, just here’s your key, see you later 👍🏼😂 got into the house, it wasn’t clean, the kitchen had been flooded which warped all the kitchen floor which I then had to pay to get it sorted. They should have done a check once the owners were out the house in order to make sure it was in a fit state and as seen on the viewings. I’ve since rented out houses around that area and stayed well clear of hunters, I would never use them again after the experience I had with them.

Poor overall

Poor overall! The property we were interested in was over valued by more than 10% and yet they wanted offers in excess of ?! My communication with staff was defensive and not amiable not sure why! My advice check out your move to check the property is actually worth what they say it is? Before you buy 🤗

Worst nightmare you could have if you deal with Hunters Abbeywood. No repair on time, always defensive and lieing even when you present them with evidences for their unresponsiveness. Always be a judge in their own case and their manager is also part of them. Please avoid them

Hunters -Ealing Friendly professional, I can’t thank Steve enough. The time, energy and commitment, he was the bridge between both my solicitor and the buyers and was 100% committed. Everything went through Smoove and this was due to Steve and Hunters-Ealing. I have recommended them to other sellers and they will be always highly recommended by me

Just don't use this Estate Agent

Just don't use this Estate Agent. And really don't use them to do an Inventory. They made so many errors we had to almost redo it ourselves. They missed the Fridge Freezer. Washing machine and Dishwasher in the Kitchen. They said there was a white wooden wardrobe in the bathroom, there isn't I could go on and on. I have asked for a refund but of course not heard anything!

Their inefficiency made me lose a living place

This is how I kept urging the agent to follow up & how their inefficiency made me lost a living place in Sep.I viewed the flat on 4th Aug and paid holding deposit on the same date. My offer was accepted on 7th Aug. When Hunters and Homelet spend more than one month for my reference check and preparation of lodger agreement, I kept asking them when I can sign the contract and so I can transfer 6 month upfront rent and deposit. On 7th Aug, I tried to enter my details of reference check on the same date. However, the system had bug. Hunters staff helped me enter the details with their internal systems in the following day, although there are some typo of my job and address reference.Perhaps because of the miscommunications among 2 parties, Homelet refused to do reference check for me as they have not yet got the approval from Hunters. With numerous e mail I requested Hunters to fix it, Homelet started sending e mails to my manager and current landlord for reference check on 15th Aug.On 17th Aug, Hunters staff asked me to pay 6-month upfront rent and deposit by e mail without sending me the lodger agreement. I promised them to make the payment when they send me the contract and contract is signed. On 25th Aug, I received the lodger agreement finally after several requests. I raised some questions in the e mail in order to shorten the time for them to answer me during our future meeting of contract signing. On 6th Sep, another Hunters staff invited me to go to their office and sign the contract on the following day. I gave her my questions again for her better preparation. On 7th Sep, that staff said meeting date had to be changed. She answered my questions very briefly. Perhaps she is not familiar with the letting issues of the flat, I simply said I will ask others when I move in. I tried to ask when we meet and sign the contract. She did not reply. On 8th Sep, another Hunters staff told me that the landlord decided to accept another offer. The studio is no longer available in the market. He asked me to state my bank details and they will refund the holding deposit. I once thought the landlord must keep bidding for a higher rental price.I must move out before 23rd Sep as official move out notice was given to the current landlord. During resume of finding rental place, I found the flat in Zoopla again with rental price unchanged.Later I found the staff of the landlord and told the landlord what’s really happening. The landlord felt so sorry & decided to give me viewings of 3 other studios. However, the size and location do not suit my need.

Lucky that we chose Hunters due to a very complicated chain

We had a very complicated chain, without their support I think we would have lost our buyer. We were grateful that they had a sales progressor who was able to speak to everyone in the chain, something that only independent agents have, this meant that after 8 months from accepting an offer we finally moved.

I work alongside many estate agents in my walk of life and these are by far the most professional experienced and enthusiastic I've had the pleasure of dealing with . They show a genuine commitment to getting the job done and getting it done right , I would have no hesitation in putting myself in their capable hands wether buying selling or renting . Keep up the good work I'm sure your team will go far ! Kind regards Kevin Emmerson

Great, proactive service

We bought a property recently through Hunters, yet to complete, but they have been absolutely fantastic throughout the process. I wish we had used them to sell our house as well, as they have been proactive, very communicative and extremely professional. I could not recommend them any higher.
