Really impressed with Hunters Bishop Auckland throughout the house sale process. The team are professional, very communicative and helpful. We particularly appreciated Adam's valuation visit. He was open and honest and his valuation was reasoned, realistic and gave me confidence that we could focus on our priority - good solid prospects, no games or gazumping - so everyone was treated fairly. Could we have pushed for a higher price - possibly - but we were looking for the right buyer, at the right time, with minimum fuss, and the advice of Adam and the team gave us precisely that. The company really is very responsive, out of hours calls are answered and viewings were managed professionally. The whole team are lovely but special call out to Elizabeth for her patience with me and for keeping me smiling throughout the whole process. If you are looking for an online conveyancer (rather than local, in person) then I too would recommend Simply Conveyancing. It does what it says on the tin!

From valuation to completion the team at Hunters were excellent. Ours was an empty property and they did all of the viewings which was an enormous help to us.They constantly keep you informed every step of the way. Regular phonecalls, even if there's nothing to update, so you are not left wondering what is happening. Ours was quite a long process but they were constantly chasing the chain to keep things moving along. The whole team are so friendly and professional and their commitment & guidance made the whole process so much less stressful for me. I would definitely recommend using Hunters.

This company doesn't seem to care…

This company doesn't seem to care either about their prospective customers or their existing landlords. I have an outstanding issue with their poor tenant management at a property that they have let for a number of years and their failure to recover documented damage after the tenant vacated the property. Nobody is answering my emails. The owner has notified his landlords that yet another staff member has left the company, they are notorious for being unable to retain staff. I would not recommend them to anyone.

I was really impressed with the valuer's sales pitch and genuinely believed they would be the best firm to sell my home. The fact they had a relationship with Ryan property law also played a part, although that turned out to be a disaster, but that's a review for another day. Experience of sales team - Georgia is so lovely and was a pleasure to work with. However, even after a week, the sole promotion strategy was pushing me to lower the price, which I eventually caved into and feel like I would have got more money had I gone with an approach suggested by a different agent. I had over 30 viewings, which was exhausting preparing the house for. Most of these were time wasting - one definitely a pseudonym (why don't they ask for ID checks?) and at least 10 weren't actually people who were in a position to buy (not got house on market or it would turn out they'd offered elsewhere). The buyers buyer (also buying through Hunters), was not vetted correctly or there was a big cover up. If there was a cover up, Hunters couldn't tell me, because they had such poor record keeping. I was sent evidence of some record keeping with regards to something else (hello GDPR breach!) and it was full of typos and omissions. Sales progression experience was horrific. Thankfully they eventually replaced the person, as I could go on and on with my list of what she did that was totally unprofessional, but worst bit is she could have put my children at risk if it had been a DV situation, as she told everyone in the chain my new address and all the addresses of everyone in the chain, repeatedly. I repeatedly complained about her and they left it far too late to do anything. Absolutely appalling and this estate agent caused so much additional stress to what was already a horrific chain. I would not recommend to anyone.

I cannot speak highly enough of my experience with this team. They represented me as a landlord for over 10 years and throughout this time I found them to be consistently reliable, responsive and trustworthy. They supported me throughout the pandemic and for the 5 year period in which I was living abroad. I have worked with many estate agents over the years but the Bishop Auckland Hunters team is in a different league. Ella is an exceptional director and was personally involved with the management of my properties. She also gave me advice and support in buying property in the area. Her staff are personable, organised and efficient. It was my privilege to be their client for so many years.

Dreadful Experience

We booked valuation. Confirmed twice no show. She eventually came late at night & we fell for the speel. Big mistake just full of empty promises. No response to phone calls or emails. 17 days before first viewing. Buyers were not vetted as we were told. Some hadn't even got their house on the market. It was a truly horrible experience. Finally got a offer £30,000 below asking price! THEN I had an long email telling me we should take it ! They are beyond rubbish. They take on too many clients & cannot give you the time. They don't even ask if appointment is convenient to you. One word ....Jokers Two words....Avoid Avoid If I could give zero stars I would

I recently sold 2 properties with Hunters Bishop Auckland, a small ex rental and a larger family home. Both properties were managed with equal importance. Adam was very knowledgeable about the local property market and provided clear and concise information and advice on selling my properties. The office staff provided a stress-free process, by liaising with solicitors, agents and purchasers involved within the chain on my behalf and I was kept informed throughout the whole process with clear and concise communication. This was helped by all staff in the office being up to date with the progress of the sale rather than having just one ‘case handler’. I would highly recommend the team at Hunters for a smooth and successful transaction.

What particularly stood out was the communication. Hunters helped establish direct communication between us and our seller, which proved invaluable. One of my worst experience buying a house from hunters

One of my worst experience buying a house from hunters auction. House was listed on website and tenanted for a fixed amount of rent which I was told by the auction agent called Robert. Also house was in bad state but got told tenants don’t care so why do you. Only to find out later on that tenants have never paid anywhere near that amount and it’s so much lower. So was lied to first of all and then later to meet the tenants and for them to tell us all the work they was promised and they wanted the house fixing top to bottom. What an absolute joke and waste of time and money. Keep your money and go elsewhere they will tell you anything just to sell a house that is overpriced

Rude, poor service - a must avoid for renters

Rude, get passed around from pillar to post while they try to ignore your requests or questions. Tried for years to get them to fix things but just continually fell on deaf ears. Now they're trying to claim issues are my fault which are down to shoddy contractors (which they use consistently, including at one point despite having had yearly gas checks, I get told that the previous 6 years hasn't been done properly and the build up that caused a leak was because of this. Everything is everyone's issue but theirs. Renters, avoid at all costs!

Hunters were dealing with the property I was purchasing. Being the buyer I wasn't expecting much communication with Hunters throughout the process. However they made contact with me every step of the way to keep, they provided me updates from both solicitors, they advised me when documents were handed in. The level of communication ensured I was fully aware of where we were in the process, it really helped me feel involved and confident they were doing everything to keep the chain stress free as smooth. Don't trust the photos

Hunters Bishop Auckland were agents at the time for my current landlord, who had the sense to dump them. Shown round 2 modern clean (as their website stated) flats. Hunters rep looked bored, uninterested and unapproachable as looked round both flats with family. Flat 1. Smashed boarded up window. Grease all over kitchen paintwork. Undercounter fridge n freezer that were no longer white. Oven door hanging one hinge. Not been cleaned or decorated. Holes around light fittings etc. Flat 2. Kitchen...oven no shelves and hadnt been cleaned. Grease on cupboards/walls. Extractor bulbs blown n filters minging. All cupboard handles corroded, fascias and 2 doors water warped. Taps corroded. Dishwasher that leaked, hadnt been cleaned, had stagnant water in it and a warped door. Sockets greasy. Around sink rusty. Botched repairs to sink unit floor. Kitchen handles hanging on Lounge. Smashed light switch. Rusty radiator. Holes n picture hooks in walls. Damp lines along lower half of walls by windows. Cracked plaster behind door as no doorstop Bedrooms. Double socket...half worked. Plaster damaged again behind doors as no doorstops. Carpet stained. Rusty radiators. Bathroom. Loo seat hinges smashed. Shower tray leaked. Water marks on walls from shower leaking. Holes around shower fitting. Grouting missing and a lot was black. Taps corroded. No plug on sinks or even a metal grill on one. Shower trap had smashed and sunk into drain. Loo loose. Bath panels not secure and corners smashed. Window hanging by one hinge. Cracked plaster behind door. Door one side matt, one side satin. Stained carpet, not decorated at all and certainly hadnt been cleaned. All radiators rusty, doors had screws that had been sunked in them. Cracks in plaster. More holes/nails around windows where nets had been. Window sills loose just sat on bare bricks. Melted holes in laminate on worktops. Did an inventory for Hunters and it certainly wasnt passed onto the landlord. No defects were shown in the pictures. I hope their working practices have changed This was July 2019.

During my recent house purchase, I had a very poor experience with my conveyancer, with delays of over seven months, poor communication, and misplaced documents. At one point, I was close to losing the property. Hunters stepped in at the right time, helped me find a new conveyancer, and supported me patiently throughout the situation without ever rushing me. They also kept me informed of everything that was happening even if nothing was happening which was vital as I live 200 miles away.
