Helen Bennett / Bennetts EA is quite possibly one of the worst management agency company I’ve come across, having to endure 2 very long years, we’ve finally been able to get rid of them and found a new management agency who’s done more work in one week than Bennett’s have in their whole time with us. Helen Bennetts method of management has been unsatisfactory, Providing absolute no service whatsoever, and allowing problems within the property to escalate, some shareholders have had to involve paying solicitors regarding Bennett’s on multiple occasions, and continue to involve solicitors to get Bennett’s to remove fees from our service charge that I was told was illegal. Helen was also negligent in her duties in the maintenance of the gardens of the property with her allowing a garden company Crawfords who have 0 knowledge of garden maintenance whatsoever, who spent their time leaf blowing invisible leaves for 15 minutes, cleaning the hallway with a dirty mop, and then leaving, to further push our landscape into disrepair while still being charged for works that were never carried out, these issues were disregarded by Helen when confronted. Furthermore Helen’s transparency surrounding incomes and outcomes were extremely unclear, with multiple conflicting reports from different members of her own team which made many shareholders of the property uncomfortable having to constantly ask for meetings and clarity around accounts as Helen was careless in her managerial ability to keep accounts positive and we were casually emailed with a big price increase to say that we were in debt with no notice. Due to this, services had to stop for 3 months with no proposal from Bennetts to get us out of the mess they created. To summarise, Helen prioritises gossip, back channelled conversations & self interest dealings, looking at other reviews, my own experience and since moving to a new more professional management agency who are now having to undo damage caused by Helen and her team, that Helen has no real interest in managing a property and if you want to save yourself money then It is my opinion that you search elsewhere.

A great illustration of this was phoning their office at 6.30pm at night after closing time with a gas boiler issue leaving us with no hot water. They are glorified rent collectors with not an ounce of customer care or culture attached to their company values. Honestly felt like a part time job emailing and following up with their agents on basic property maintenance and admin. They don’t communicate with one another and have no knowledge on the properties they manage. At not one opportunity have I ever felt as though they truly cared about the tenant in the property they are managing - felt like an extension of a student rental experience. I was astonished at the state of the mattress and paint work we as new tenants walked into on day 1 - this was cleared from their inspection and mattress addressed with paper thick protectors. Not only did Bennett’s state it would be a full week for new ones they also advised we should dispose of them ourselves - further to my point about the lack of care. Sleeping on an airbed for the first week was not something I envisaged when paying £1000+ for an apartment rental - this should have been addressed within 24hrs. A truly regrettable experience of which I hope is isolated to us but I will ignore their listings in the future. Shambles from day 1.
