Stay away

We were promised a premium service by Westbury based Connells’ agents and coerced into signing a contract, which we later found out had a tie-in period of 6 months. The smooth talking agent made it look like that signing the contract was a mere formality as the house will be sold in couple of weeks, if not days. The ad on Rightmove had wrong information about our house and was awfully written. The agents never responded to our emails and only talked to us when we called them. We were not provided the copies of the contract or EPC, till weeks later when we chased them for the documents. They make very talk claims, distort stats to suit their narrative and deliver very little, at least in my experience. I’ll never use them again and would advise everyone to read their contract carefully before signing the dotted lines.

Avoid

Used them as rental management for my rental property but their service degraded so much over time to point that if i can give zero star, I would. Non-responsive when you ask them for something and completely incompetent group of people working in this company. The home sales team is no better with a completely ridiculous property valuation given where the other property company can give a significantly higher valuation.

Car sales man of estate agents... Greedy company had a viewing with them they spent more time trying to get me to move to connells mortgage .. had a very rude lady from there mortgage section call me twice trying to hard sale there mortgage and when i wouldnt she got angry and rude . most of connells properties are now auction they only care about money with the lease amount of work needed .. they get some nice properties but 90% are auction which only help dealers and builders. DO NOT USE connell southampton or portsmouth

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Absolutely the WORST letting agent on the market. Customer service is non existent, no one replies to emails and they all pass the buck from one person to another when you call them. The only reason I had an ongoing issue fixed after battling with them and jumping through their hoops for almost a year was because I threatened to go to environmental health.

I am still receiving bills from the period we haven't lived at the property because connells gave wrong dates to the companies and we still receive bills like eon for the period we haven't lived at the property, water company, council tax, useless, absolutely useless, they took their time to email me that the dates are wrong but not the companies. AVOID THEM!!!

Managed a tenancy for us

Managed a tenancy for us. Repeatedly failed to follow simple instructions. Didn't do a check-out when the tenant left. Delayed handing over rent due to us. When the tenancy ended they moved the utilities without notice or our consent (took a back-hander from OVO). Utterly useless at dealing with our complaints. Just ignored us. Totally useless as agents.

We were a bit concerned about Connells surveying services after reading very bad reviews of their services. However we were lucky enough that Paul Evans from Connells came to value our flat for our mortgage. He was very knowledgeable about his work. He measured our flat, did some photos, checked the outside too, and how he promised he did the report on the same day. He valued the property exactly the same value like our mortgage offer. Thank you

NEVER EVER USE THEM

NEVER EVER USE THEM! Avoid renting from Conells We left one of their properties 6 months ago and have only now managed to get our deposit back. They deducted £140 for cleaning that didn’t need to be done. We made the mistake of not taking photos of the house when we entered and left. Leaving us with no evidence that we had cleaned the house. After spending weeks calling and emails, (we couldn’t go in as their offices were closed due to COVID) we got no reply. The only way we could get through was by calling the sales department for them to pass the phone on. They left it till the last legal moment to respond to us, and continued to do so throughout the process. If they were allowed 2 weeks to respond they would wait until day 14 to respond. They are honestly the worst letting agency we have ever used. One year when it came time to renew our contract, they were 6 days late in getting our new contact to us, despite several emails and calls. They then had the cheek to send a warning for underpaying our rent because they had put it up and not told us. I could list so many more examples of their incompetence. Bottom line, do yourselves a favour and find a different house to rent.

Very poor service

Connells is one of the worst companies in UK. They will offer you mortgage advisory service and deceive you that it's a lifetime service. All they care about is taking your money. You'll have to pay for their service as well as administration fees even before the mortgage application is sent. After that you won't even get anyone to respond to queries. If you are lucky to get a response then it's going to take days. Also, if your mortgage/purchase does not go through its your loss; they have already taken their money. It's always one mistake after the other, knowing perfectly well that the outcome won't affect the payment for their service. They know that likelihood of their staff getting a service rendered is almost zero (0). It about time the law does something about fraudulent companies such as this. BE WARNED!

Do not use Connells!

Disgusted and Connells have cost me dearly. Had put in an offer but kept pushing for a higher one. Made a better offer and spun one yarn after another decided to offer higher but all calls ignored for over three weeks. House had still not sold. Started getting a bit paranoid with all calls being ignored so looked on Trustpilot and discovered they were doing this to so many more people if you were a cash buyer and not using their services. It has cost me dearly as missed many more properties and house prices escalated now 6 months on and can't find another property I can afford. They have well and truly shafted me!

Poor customer service

Poor customer serviceWe are selling my late mother in laws property, which is empty. Connells would only offer us an appointment with a 6 hour time range, ie: 9 - 3pm, clearly we are not going to sit in an empty property for that length of time. They said the would text the night before with a 90 minute slot, still not suitable to us as we have to work and don't know when this 90 minute slot will be until night before. Had to go with as no option to work around the client, although we are paying them for the service. Low and behold the 90 minute time slot comes through the night before outside the time range of the appointment booking. Valuer called when he was 30 minutes away and said he isn't given any time slots anyway.

Terrible experience. Poor communication, didn't care about the buyer's experience at all. Hoping that the next home we purchase won't be through Connells, Welwyn Garden City. Definitely won't be using them to sell our property. Absolutely disastrous experience. Given it's probably the most expensive purchase anyone is likely to make, you'd think the level of service would be better. Avoid this agency at all costs!

Can not be trusted

Connells in bearwood sold a house to me a year ago that was valued by a lady named Shannon Uppal, on the assumption that there was no damage to the property. However, there is a very severe leak arising from the upstairs en-suite that has now caused considerable damage to the ground floor ceiling, which I will have to repair. I contacted Connells twice and they have completely dismissed my emails and phone calls.

Avoid Using Connells

I am joining the other disillusioned landlords that will never use the lettings services of Connells again. Landlords pay Connells to manage their properties and Connells takes 12.85% of the rental income for their "services". However, their behaviour is to represent the interests of the tenant, rather than that of the landlord that appointed them and pays them. Connells placed a "tenant" in my property (a company called Marine Fabrications and Engineering Ltd), but got no personal guarantees from any of the directors for payment of the rent. The company illegally used my property as an HMO and had 4 separate individuals living in the 4 bedrooms, when only 2 are allowed by law and per the signed rental agreement. Connells never inspected the property, and only did an inspection in month 10 of the tenancy after I insisted they do so. I requested the inspection when my contractor reported that the property is being used as an HMO after he accessed the house to fix a window that was damaged by the tenants. The rent was in arrears for most of the tenancy. Connells incorrectly refunded the tenant £560.07, when this rent was due to me. The tenants breached numerous clauses of the rental agreement for the entire period, including smoking in the property, not keeping the outdoor spaces tidy, not airing the house thereby causing damp in numerous rooms, putting nails in the walls, sticking posters to the walls, screwing hooks into doors etc. The repairs and cleaning services exceed the deposit, which I am claiming. Connells states I am entitled to only a small portion of the deposit which will leave most of the damaged areas unrepaired, and dirty.

Incompetent Immoral Imbeciles.The advice is never to use this company for either managing properties or as an estate agent, they are complete Incompetent, Immoral Imbeciles.As a landlord they have cost me thousands.They lost the tenancy agreement, the check in inventory and the keys.Due diligence, care and professionalism are not in the dictionary at connells.Without your sanction they will sub-contract works they deem necessary to another connells company, who sub- contract to another connells company, who sub contract to a local supplier. You are then advised by a company you have never heard of that you have been charged for the privilege! People correspond with you from a different company name then claim to work for connells.Connells have now repaid for the works charged plus legal costs, but only after they gave me the run around and protracted correspondence between different ‘companies’ ending in small claims court.The only ‘Excellence’ they have is in incompetency, is this what they claim when providing training to employees?Both the tenant and myself had been lied to by the local branch with the return of the keys resulting in days of delay and additional cost, I am well rid of this company.Their performance is so bad I have also stopped looking at any properties they market, I would not buy through them if they were the last agent on the planet. If this is the ‘best possible service’ they all need to retire.

Rubbish service

I was told that Connells is a great lettings agency, however I was very disappointed with their service.I first got in touch with Connells regarding the property that I have seen on right movie. I was sold a dream and not the reality buy them. The property advertised doesn't look like the photos. As well I was told that the internet for the property supports all the internet providers. However the reality is completely different. I have tried to get the internet installed at the property to find out two weeks later of waiting for the live day to take place that the internet cant be installed due to not having a supporting line for it. Connells shouldn't advertise the property and say that its all good and the property looks like pictures when it doesn't. As a lettings agency its their responsibility to make sure that the photos match the reality.I can say for sure that Connells has never visited the property and has no idea how it looks like or what state it is in and yet they are advertising it as a dream. Very disappointed and will never deal with Connells again. I suggest you all do the same unless you are willing to accept a crappy and uncleaned place.
