I am very happy with the service provided on my sale. Hard working Andrew did everything to facilitate the sale after the offer was made. Really good.

We chose Douglas Allen due to their superior knowledge of the local market. Steve is about as enthusiastic as they come and we liked his energy. We had an open house and received lots of offers at the price we had hoped for. After negotiating we finished with a tidy little sum extra and this confirmed my belief that ‘You get what you pay for’. I liked the straight forward approach from this company and always felt like he valued us as customers even though we were not selling a million pound house,unlike one of the others I had seem who seemed to lack interest!

Best estate agent in the region!

When we first moved to Billericay 4 years ago we found Douglas Allen always had the best listings and the best descriptions, so it was a no-brainer to use them when we decided to sell our freshly-renovated property. We found ourselves in a real rush as we were trying to secure a new house and had to have a cash buyer pronto. Paul Cromwell was a complete star - before we even listed we had our first cash offer. He then listed in super-fast time and we had 15 viewings within a day, and more offers than we can remember! Trevor Collin was great, finding ideal people for us. The result was a good offer from a cash buyer, resulting in a fast sale. Within six weeks we completed and moved to our dream home. We could not have got our new house without their help, and the help of everyone there. Highly recommended - if you want an estate agent who you can trust then use Douglas Allen.

Whilst it took nearly six months for the sale of my house to go through, this was not for the lack of any time or effort on the part of Maureen and her DA team. There must have been 50+ viewings of the property with 7 offers put in. The only frustrating part was the time taken trying to convert those offers into a confirmed sale but eventually we got one to stick. Special recognition must go to Andrew Bilby who co-ordinated the sale from the point the eventual winning offer was accepted. Andrew was proactive at all times - I never had to chase him for an update - and I fear that without him, the sale may not have successfully concluded. Thank you Maureen and co!

Wasn't impressed with sales and marketing, a lot of talk to get you to sign, then don't hear from them, hardly anyone turned up for 1st open house then second open house agent was late and I ended up doing it myself! 2% fees high compared to other agencies.However, after sales was brilliant particularly Andrew Bilby who was constantly in touch & really pushing to get the transaction dealt with quickly due to my family situation and school places. It was great to have his honest, hardworking support because of him my sale went through in 10weeks. I also was impressed with Callum at the walthamstow branch who went out of his way to try and sort out the situation when our buyers pulled a fast one!Overall I would use Douglas Allen again but wouldn't be as naive next time with my expectations.

We received a great service from the Chingford branch.Every team member was brilliant, from dealing with Sean when I first enquired about a property who was fantastic. He listened to what I wanted rather than trying to get me to view every property on the books like other estate agents do. Jess who come to value our property, who was absolutely lovely and kept me up to date on everything going on from selling our property to informing me of new properties that suited us. Jake was also great keeping me updated with viewings and feedback. James was there helping and informing me of offers/feedback. These are truly the worst estate agents in Essex!

Recently my nephew decided to move into a bigger home in Essex and needed to sell his home to do so. Douglas Allen explained at the valuation that with best offers plus which is there new selling concept , my nephew would not pay a no fee. The purchaser would pay all sales commission of 1.55% plus vat and he would pay zero fee. This seemed to be to good to be true , however they gave my nephew there assurances that he would get his target price . I explained to my nephew that if you get your price and get the buyers to pay your fee that's unbelievable . Well unbelievable was the word I would use for this sharp practice estate agents. Firstly every offer was £5000 short asking price , which was exactly the estate agents fees, if became clear that all the buyers who were offering were clearly knocking off the fee's . Hence my nephew will be picking up the Douglas Allen fee's of 1.55% plus vat as the buyers were reduceing there offer taking into account having to pay the sales commission. After four weeks and two open days it became evident that they were never going to get the price. Then they brought to my nephew attention he was locked into 20 week contract when he wanted to change agents as he felt Douglas Allen were not acting in his best interest. He market his property normally and after complaining he went on with another agent. We looked into best offers plus which is affectly 'sale by tender' which if you look on the Webb is scam . The staff were rude , unprofessional , condescending and when the upper management got involved there were worse . I was recommended to online agent who we paid a flat fee and done more in two weeks than eight weeks with Douglas Allen . We sold the property £2500 above the asking price and paid commission of £1058 which was a fraction of what Douglas Allen was charging. They are ripping off vendors and purchasers, to get these ridiculous fees. They are a poor estate agent and have dressed up this product best offers plus , which is sale by tender. Complete rip off!!!!!

The people at Barkingside branch were friendly and accomodating. For example in one person was not able to address my query or was away, another would address it. For example when Daniel and Ummad were not available, Lynburge took on my query and responded the same day with a response. Ummad was friendly, welcoming, approachable and patient. In particular I found William Nash very knowledgeable and thorough who addressed my queries quickly and professionally. Keith, I thought was proactive in trying to get issues addressed.An improvement to make is to ensure your other colleagues are kept in the loop with conversations made with customers and actions that are done. For example there were times when I had already provided an update to one member at the branch to then be called and asked the same question by another member. After an absolute nightmare dealing with a with a previous estate agent who were supposedly acting on our behalf in selling our property. We decided to change agent and engage Douglas Allen. Enter Lynburge and Ummad at the Barkingside office and what a complete contrast this was. In today's world of cut throat high street estate agents it is nice to see that there are a few rare and genuine people who value the simple concept of trust. Lynburge in particular was extremely helpful and went over and above to rectify our frustrations and sufferings with the previous estate agents. He was professional and knowledgeable in his dealings with us and put our needs and interest first and foremost above anything else. In Lynburge's absence we dealt with Ummad who was courteous and displayed the same professionalism. If the service that we received from Lynburge and Ummad in overseeing the sale of our property in a short space of time is typical of Douglas Allen employees I would have no hesitation to recommend Douglas Allen above all other High Street competitors to friends and family. Do not be seduced by sweet talk from other agents. Douglas Allen were honest and realistic in pricing the property and delivered exactly what they promised and on time.We are extremely grateful to them for their service to us.

Excellent property sale via Chingford office

In summary, you get what you pay for. I bought my property through Douglas Allen 5.5 years ago and had a good experience as a buyer. When it came to selling, they were one of the 3 agents I called to value my property. While they were the most expensive in terms of selling fees, I felt they were the most professional and gave me the most confidence that they would achieve a good sale price. When it came to selling, they in fact achieved a price which greatly exceeded my expectations. Initially I dealt with Jess but her colleagues were also extremely competent and viewed the property themselves to help them in their sales efforts - a nice touch. After the sale had been agreed, the sales progressor Natasha was excellent in keeping tabs on all parties to ensure the sale proceeded without delay. In the last few weeks I did experience a few problems with some of the external parties involved slowing things up, but Natasha never relented in ensuring there was as little 'dead time' where nothing was happening as possible. This was all carried out with a pleasing professionalism, humility and humour throughout. In short, I cannot recommend Douglas Allen enough - and I speak from both the buying and selling perspective having experienced both. When all is said and done, I have reached the end of this process feeling extremely satisfied with the service I received and will be happy to pay them their fee, since they very much earned it. Selling and buying property almost always results in stressful moments, but everyone who I came into contact with at Douglas Allen was a pleasure to deal with which made it all that little bit easier to cope with.
