Unfortunately I cannot recommend Penny Smyth Estates. Perhaps these estate agents are great when selling a house, however buying through them was extremely stressful. Our buying process started well, we were impressed with the customer service and attentiveness of the agents at the viewings, however once we hit sale agreed and a few things looked as if they were going wrong the customer service we received quickly took a hit. I felt as though I was a nuisance and was greatly inconveniencing the staff when I rang to ask for updates and I was practically chased off the phone more than once. I understand that estate agents work for the seller, however, I do not believe it is too much of an ask that as a buyer I receive good customer service. I felt great relief upon completion because it meant I no longer needed to hear from or contact these estate agents, I would genuinely avoid using them in the future.

I was looking to purchase a property listed on their site (which sadly I was unable to complete for outside reasons) but Penny Smyths were so supportive throughout the whole process. As a first time buyer, I really felt like I had my hand held and the team dedicated a lot of time to making sure I felt comfortable and talked me through each step. I wouldnt recommend at all, I found them really underhand and at times unpleasant do deal with. When trying to buy my home and going through the bidding process they told me there was no point making a higher bid on the property because the vendor wouldn't be interested and had decided to sell to another bidder, I was then hurried off the phone. I thought about it overnight and emailed them the following morning with my bid to ensure that they had to put my bid to the vendor. I then received a very snotty email back accusing me of "gazumping" and explaining to me that this was frowned upon. I shouldn't have needed to gazump if they had put my offer to the vendor. After my email they lied and said they couldn't contact the vendor ( Holly actually called me to tell me they were still trying their best to contact him) when in fact I had taken it into my own hands and went to the person's door directly and he told me he had spoken to them and was keen to accept my offer. They were trying to sell the house to a buy to let bidder who was obviously known to them. I couldn't believe how devious they were. I didn't make a complaint because I knew by the way they treated me that they were dishonest and sneaky and I didn't think for one minute that a complaint would be dealt with seriously.

Absolutely impeccable service from Penny Smyths estate agents! Penny and Kerry were professional, reliable and supportive from the very start. Offering professional photos, a video and brochure, taking care of all the viewings- it was seamless. Several issues arose relating to the sale that took a bit of time to remedy, and Kerry’s communication was amazing. Can not recommend Penny Smyth Estates enough. We have experience on both selling and buying through Penny Smyth and can't fault on either side. We had been buying from another agent and was a nightmare, but Penny and Kerry found us a house in area we wanted and the rest is history. A lot of stress but their good humour helped ease the pressure and they kept us going through what felt a lifetime of ups and downs. We would without a doubt use Penny Smyth again if we are ever mad enough to move . Peter was also very good to calm me when I was stressed and always so calm and confident on the phone. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. I have never seen such unprofessional and unethical agency. We have got the house, sale agreed and got confirmation letter from the agency. I did book the surveyor and was sorting the solicitor. After 4 days, they did take an offer from someone else! Ethical and professional agencies would never do such thing. They wouldn't take further offers neither disclose the price.

I have no hesitation in recommending Penny Smyth and her team. The whole process of selling my property was seamless. Penny took care of the viewings and sold the property inside a week.
