Jo, Yvonne and Danielle were brilliant throughout the whole process, but particularly during the stresses towards the end! Tracey, at Boxall Brown & Jones, was undoubtedly the best estate agent I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with in over 35 years of buying and selling houses. She was always knowledgeable, efficient, prompt and very caring about selling my mum’s house after she went into residential care. It was a very difficult time for my family, especially after mum’s house flooded last Christmas but Tracey went out of her way to help us. I cannot thank her enough. It made a huge difference knowing Tracey was doing everything possible to support us.

From valuation to marketing took only a few days and the house sold within 24 hours. When it later fell through due to buyer’s serious illness and it had to go back on the market it again all happened within a couple of days. Tracey was superb at keeping us informed about what was happening with both of the sales, and chasing down information from the buyers to keep things moving.

They’re supposed to be property managers, but completely have no say or authority over the property.We moved into a house which hadn’t been viewed or inspected by Boxall since the previous tenant moved out, and found it in a completely disgusting state. Cupboards were thick with filth and dust, the carpets were atrocious, the whole house smelt of dog, and the shed roof has been stuffed behind the shed along with a load of other rubbish, the gas oven continuously ignites if switched on at the mains and countless other issues.Their response? “We’ll compensate you £200 to get the carpets cleaned”. We’ve been in the house for a month and they’ve done nothing except “chase the landlord”. So much for being our “property managers”.

Consequently I would reiterate that the office are fully aware of the issues you are experiencing and we are currently working hard to get the Landlord to take action.I would again stress that we act as an Agent for the owner of the property and we are bound by the instructions given to us by them. We will continue to work with you and all other parties concerned to reach a satisfactory conclusion, as soon as possible. TrustpilotDerby branch… don’t expect your deposit back.
They just turn up for house inspections unexpectedly and only communicate though email. Their customer service towards tenants in my experience was terrible and they only look out for their landlords. I never received my deposit back and am currently going through a process to try and claim it back however Boxal haven’t helped me at all. Infact quite the opposite. I’m only referring to the Derby branch and Tom halloran especially, never did his job adequately. I left the flat is a better condition than I received it in and spent a lot of money bringing the flat to an expectable living condition(carpets, painting and de-moulding). I disposed of my old fridge and made every effort to be a good tenant. I would not recommend them at all.
I am so sorry that you have been unable to write a positive review of our business. We take criticism very seriously and I have taken the time to look into this matter. We look after a very large portfolio of property and find that email is the preferred method of communication for the vast majority of our tenants. At no point did you tell us that this was any issue for you. In respect of the deposit, it is the landlord who decides on the return of any deposit and we simply act upon their instructions. In this case, our instructions were to make a claim against the deposit and as you disagreed, the matter has been referred to the independent redress scheme (TDS) who will evaluate the evidence on both sides before making a decision. The Tenancy Deposit Scheme always intervene in such a dispute, to protect both the landlord and tenant, which is entirely fair and appropriate. Tom is a dedicated member of the Lettings team and is regularly praised by both landlords and tenants for the diligent service he provides.

Recently we had a viewing with this company arranged at the specific location and time. No one turned up to do the viewing we waited outside the apartment for 40 minutes. DONT book viewings with this company as they’re unserious and unprofessional. We drove from Leicester to Derby for this viewing and no one from their company was answering the phone or emails. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

I purchased a property where Boxall Brown & Jones were the estate agent. The whole experience from start to finish was excellent. Having not bought a property for a number of years, I had a perception (negative) of what it would be like dealing with an estate agent again. The BB&J team certainly changed my perception and I would highly recommend the Company to others. I worked mainly with Dawn and Claire, both of whom were extremely courteous, professional and went above and beyond. Dawn was my main contact and always made herself available for questions, some of which were most likely basic. BB&J were of course representing the seller, but always dealt with me in a professional way and I always felt I was been dealt with fairly. Thank you Dawn, 5 stars!! Claire showed us around the property and was very knowledgeable of the local area. We wanted to view the property a couple of times and Claire made us feel this was never too much trouble. We don’t plan on moving any time soon, but when we do BB&J will be the first estate agent we call. Thanks again Dawn & Claire.

Have been dealing with Boxall Brown & Jones for nearly 20 years. They managed a couple of my rental properties in Derby after I moved out of the area, which during this time their service with finding tenants and managing the portfolio was brilliant so a big thank you to the Lettings team for all their support. I then proceeded to sell both properties over the last 6 years with the final one only just being completed. This was a bit drawn out due to Covid and a couple of hiccups during but throughout I was kept informed of what was happening from viewings, buyers position and offers. They went the extra mile through a difficult and frustrating time but we got there in the end. So huge thanks to the whole of the Sales Team in particular Angela Delaney who dealt with all the ups and downs throughout. You may pay a little bit more in fees, but from this last experience it was well worth it. It's a cliche but you certainly get what you pay for and more from BBJs. So I would totally recommend BBJs for either Selling, Buying and Renting/Letting properties, their are an amazing professional team.

BB&J have been outstanding throughout the valuation process for my property. From the early stages phoning through and arranging the appointment, Maria was so efficient and helpful. Our Surveyor Robert came out at a convenient time, he was polite and knowledgeable. Rob produced a thorough Valuation in a timely manner. Upon requesting a short notice update, Rob gave my request urgent priority and had issued the document within an hour to help me get out of a tight situation with my SaIe. I can’t recommend the team highly enough. I would certainly use them in the future.

We have recently had the misfortune of dealing with Boxall Brown and Jones as the letting agent for a rented property.Whilst renting, any issues were eventually addressed however the real problems began when we left. In summary a totally unfounded and extortionate claim was made for cleaning (carried out by their own company) which we have only recently following an independent finding in our favour resolved.
I am so sorry to read the comments you have made in your review. When a tenancy comes to a close, it is the landlord who decides if a deposit should be released and we act upon their instructions. For clarity, we do not have a cleaning company and as I am sure you can appreciate, it is much easier for us when their is no dispute so that everyone can receive the money back without question. It is a lot less work for us! In cases like this, when the landlord and tenant disagree on the return of the deposit, the independent redress schemes (TDS) make the final decision and I am pleased that they were able to resolve the dispute in this case. Boxall Brown & Jones have for 35 years been one of Derbys leading Estate Agents and I am pleased to say that both tenants and landlords rarely have cause for complaint. Chris Birds - Partner

Every person I have dealt with at Boxall, Brown and Jones has been extremely professional and so helpful. I was selling my late father's property which made it an emotional experience. They were courteous and sympathetic. From the initial valuation to marketing, viewings and then liaising with my buyer and solicitors they were beyond helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. I mainly dealt with Tracey and her communications and actions to chase up outstanding areas was invaluable. I would have really struggled without her.

From the moment Chris Bird came to value the house, to the end of the process, all of the staff at BBJ's went above and beyond to help.Special mentions to Angela Delaney who was patient, thorough, understanding and really positive throughout. Moving house is such a stressful process, but Angela was happy to help, listen and advise at every turn.All in all, if you're deciding who to sell your house with, then look no further. Very poor in communication and updates. Very poor handover despite numerous calls and emails. Despite having no requirement for a survey and mortgage the time to complete was terrible. Excuse was solicitor but it was not the case, BBJ took three weeks just to inform the other side of our requirements and it took an ultimatum to make the purchase complete.On completion we had to visit the office for keys, one set was supplied which appeared strange as this had been an AB&B property, no keys with the management provider!This was followed up by us with emails but no reply.I would not use this estate agent to rent or sell my property.

I cannot recommend Boxhall, Brown and Jones enough. We first bought a house through them eight years ago and we were very impressed. When the decision came to sell, we didn’t hesitate to use them again. Christopher Bird, our initial contact and the surveyor, was friendly, knowledgeable and honest. Once the house was on the market, Dawn Barker was our contact and she was fantastic. She responded to queries almost instantaneously, updated us on how the sale was proceeding frequently and, once again, was brutally honest when there were issues. At every point we felt ‘in the loop’. In addition to this, our buyers raved about Dawn’s communication too. In short, we would certainly not hesitate to use Boxhall, Brown and Jones again.

I really cannot thank Claire Taylor from Derby Boxall Brown & Jones enough. She recently showed me around a property in Darley Abbey and her customer service was exceptional. After having a few recent poor experiences with Estate Agents from other companies I really feel the need to commend Claire on her knowledge of the property and exceptional standards. It really does make all the difference when you are viewing a property, especially for the first time. I was greeted by Claire who was already at the property, and had pre-opened all the doors ready for my arrival. Claire was incredibly friendly and I just want to say a huge Thankyou to Claire for providing such an exceptional house viewing experience and she should be praised for her attitude and effort.
