Our property had been on the market for over a year when we moved to Hodsons. Within three weeks they had managed to organise several viewings and sell it! Through the process the communication was excellent and we were kept informed throughout, including after the sale had been agreed. I phoned the office several times and was always impressed with their knowledge of our sale and how helpful they were. Mandy was particularly amazing in this process. She was was very professional and clearly has an excellent knowledge of the benefits of living in such a retirement property, which was key in securing the sale.

We cannot fault the way in which Hodsons managed the sale of our home. Phil was amazing! He supported us throughout the whole process, was in constant communication, at all hours of the day and at unsocial hours too, for example, when we were abroad at a crucial point in the sale. We put our faith in him to the best job possible for us and it was justly rewarded. We really appreciated his honesty, guidance, wisdom, advice and constant reassurance throughout what could have been a very stressful time. He made the entire process as smooth as possible. Kerry also deserves our praise as she was so good at keeping us informed and updated on the journey to completion. She was absolutely 'on it' and, like Phil, was brilliant at returning our emails and phone calls really promptly. There were other staff at Hodsons who were involved in our house sale, and we found everyone we came into contact with professional and reliable. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Hodsons for a house sale or purchase.

We have been renting only for a year, but the overall experience with Victoria has been one of the best. From the start of the process to the end of our tenancy. She has been really professional, made the overall process really clear, simple, she is really efficient and the point that I would value the most of this experience was that she was attentive and listened to us, as the tenants. We have rented in a different locations and had to deal with 3 different agencies in Abingdon in the last few years and I can say that by far Hosdons with Victoria dealing with lettings, has been the best, because of her personal attention and considerations to us as tenants. Normally property managers tend to focus only in the landlord as is the client to them, so the fact that she listened, considered our proposals or concerns too and helped us in the process was really appreciated from our side. We are really happy to write this review about Hodson as the great experience that we received from them. We were initially struggled a lot to find a suitable dream home. Later when we saw an advertisement about a property, we contacted Hodson and they provided full support and information that we needed for the property. Unfortunately we couldn’t make it successful as the owner of the property declined our offer. The very positive part of Hodson is, they will understand us within over own limitations and they will help their best to find the right one on our choice. Within one day, Hodson contacted us back and proposed a new property which suites our needs. They don’t hide anything. All the dealing were like a family member. If we have any queries at any time, they are more than happy to support with their full strength. Gives us freedom to select our own mortgage advisor, solicitor and so on.( some agents not- I personally experienced it before I contacted Hodson) While we request for viewing, they spare time for us whole heartedly whenever we were in need with full support. If somebody give me a book, I have more than a book to write about the service that they rendered to find our first home. Their patience were adorable. I had a very difficult experience with Hodsons Lettings Agents throughout my tenancy. From very early on, I reported serious defects in the property, some of which, hazardous. Although I was initially told, “It’s an old house so obviously there will be some issues, but let us know ASAP,” the responsee to my reports were slow and dismissive. Despite providing video and photo evidence, I was repeatedly told that their “independent experts” were not experiencing the same issues. I was also told to address certain defects “as if it were my own house,” which made me feel I was being asked to take responsibility for structural or inherent building issues that fall outside a tenant’s obligations. Some of the items raised against me were actually recommendations contained in their own company booklet, which I followed at considerable personal expense. Communication often felt aggressive and intimidating, and I was left feeling that my concerns were being minimised rather than properly investigated. In summary, probably a great agent for owner renting out, not so for renter in position of weakness.

Christina, especially, was exemplary in all her dealings with us as buyers. She liaised deftly between us and the vendor, keeping them on board when matters may have become shaky. Hodsons also recommended an excellent surveyor to us who noted a number of issues with the building that needed to be attended to. These were smoothed over during the conveyancing process.
