We have just brought and sold a house with Chancellors in Abingdon. The whole team there were really helpful. Connor was our main point of contact. From our first viewing to the final completion day it was great to have someone consistent and reliable throughout the whole journey. Connor was really prompt at responding to any queries we had. We really valued his professional experience of the sector, and knowledge of the local market, as it was our first time selling a property. We were really impressed with the marketing and viewings of our property. The whole process was very organised and streamlined. Once it was on the market, it took just two weeks to sell! The viewings were all organised around our needs as a family, with as much advanced notice as possible. We also really appreciated the feedback from each viewing. We felt really in the loop and had lots of updates throughout the whole process. The Chancellors app was also helpful to keep us up-to-date with the process of selling and buying. We also choose to go with Chancellors in house solicitors which meant that the everything happened as quickly as possible. We would definitely recommend Connor and all the team at Chancellors in Abingdon.

His style for viewings was very accomodating, and he allowed us the space to walk around the property at our own pace without making us feel like he was on top of us or watching out every move which was refreshing - given how many agents tend to suffocate potential buyers!

Our experience with Chancellors was extremely disappointing and stressful, especially as first-time renters. We viewed a flat that we genuinely loved and were encouraged to move quickly, with pressure to be ready to move in within a week. We rushed to get everything in order based on that timeline, only to later be told that the landlord was unavailable due to a planned surgery, something they apparently already knew about but failed to mention from the start. This immediately made the process feel disorganised and misleading. After that, communication became very poor. We were repeatedly told they couldn’t get hold of the landlord, despite us chasing for updates and often receiving little to no response. After keeping us waiting and leaving us in uncertainty, we were eventually told we had not been successful, with absolutely no explanation given, even when we politely asked for one. To make matters worse, when we called at one point to follow up about the staff member we had been dealing with (Will), we were told they didn’t even know who that was, which only added to the confusion and frustration. As first-time applicants, this experience was incredibly upsetting and unnecessarily stressful. We understand that not every rental application is successful, but honesty, transparency, and basic communication should be expected. Unfortunately, that was completely lacking here. Based on our experience, we would strongly advise others to proceed with caution. If you would like to be dealt with by a bunch of amateurs this is the correct place to go.

I would like to share my review following persistent solicitations for payment over the past week. An email, indicating a reduction in rent agreed upon with my landlord, was transmitted to the agency, and subsequently, a confirmation was sent to my email. However, unexpectedly, a month later, Abingdon Chancellors commenced sending emails and making phone calls, asserting that my rent had not been paid in full and that I owed them money. Despite my attempts to address the issue by forwarding the email containing the rent reduction, the problem persisted. Various individuals from the agency continued to contact me for several days, insisting that my rent was overdue, despite my explanations. The situation at this branch is chaotic, with a lack of knowledge evident among the staff. Eventually, after another phone call, I was redirected to the head office, where the issue was resolved, albeit without any apologies until I explicitly mentioned my intention to file an official complaint. It is unfair to subject individuals to persistent demands for payment when they are not in breach of their obligations. ps. Additionally, I would like to highlight that a significant portion of the reviews on Google is submitted by new customers who were pressured by the branch to provide a 5-star rating. This practice raises concerns about the authenticity and reliability of the reviews, as it may not accurately reflect the overall satisfaction of the clientele.

We are currently mid sale and buy which is uber-stressful, but Tom Baker has been brilliant throughout. Such a sparky personality, and really on the ball. He's keeping us sane at the moment! He replies extremely quickly to emails and phone calls, is very organised, gives honest advice when we ask him, and has a great sense of fun and humour. I can't imagine doing what we're currently doing if Tom had been a different sort of person. I'm pretty certain we're stressing him out bigtime, but all credit to him, he never shows it.
