AVOID ALLEN & HARRIS Whitchurch, Cardiff

IF IT WAS POSSIBLE I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARSCraig & the staff at Allen and Harris (Whitchurch) has given us the worst experience we've ever had when moving house. The move has taken over 6 months & still isn't completed. From day one they have lied to us about the purchasers & the price my house is worth. My whole family is suffering stress because of the blatant LIES FROM CRAIGThey emphatically said that:-There Isn't a chain, YES THERE ISThe money is there as its a cash purchaser, NO ITS NOT, THEY WERE NEGOTIATING NEGOTIATING A MORTGAGE & SOMEONE FURTHER DOWN THE CHAIN ARE 1ST TIME BUYERS & THEY WERE APPLYING FOR MONEY FROM THE GOVERNMENT They wanted to move in quickly, SO BASED ON THE ABOVE WE PUT OUR FURNITURE INTO STORAGE. ALL THIS IS COSTING ME £THOUSANDS FOR STORAGE, MOVERS & SOLICITORS FEES.I WOULDNT RECOMMEND ALLEN & HARRIS TO MY WORST ENEMYWe have now moved after 6 months of Craig at Allen & Harris messing us around. In May 2021 I sent a check to their Head Office (Sequence UK Ltd), with all the information requested by Craig and they didn't bank it so it was returned.On 7th June 2021 I then received an email from Craig at Allen & Harris to pass my bank card details & they would take the money, I did this over the phone to the Whitchurch office the same day.Today 10th June 2021 I have received another email from Craig at Allen & Harris telling me that they can't put the payment through again and would i send another cheque to Head Office (Sequence UK Ltd) with again all the information or do a bank transfer through telephone banking, I asked to do this in the beginning but Craig at Allen & Harris refused my request & wouldn't give me the banking details, these details are now attached to this recent email.

Not value for money, shop around

Clifton, Bristol Branch - Sold themselves as a premium offering but their outputs (pictures, write ups, viewings) were below average. In Covid, you would have thought you'd show prospective buyers of a First Floor Flat the 3.5 acres of gardens that are included. Apparently not. I changed agent but they refused to take the property off line and continued to market it after the contractual period was up.I could write many more things. My advise, shop around for a better estate agent.

Told I was not allowed to view a property until I had signed up for their mortgage service. Managed to work my way around this and view the property. Put an offer in, which was accepted. They then put the property back on the rental market. Ok fine, but they did not inform me of this and continued to pressure me into using their services. All they are interested in is your money. 0/5.

me with my child and my wife in a hotel for more than a month I begged the offices to help me find a house we both had a full time job in a nursing home so guaranteed work and no one helped and fortunately for my good luck they turned to allen n harris office and there i found ms scarlett but i have to admit you really bent my problem understood the situation and found us home within a week and without paying 6 months in advance just by promoting us and allowing us to try our luck us taking the references and the landlord control thank you very much scarlet

Awful, horrible people.

Awful, horrible people. This is coming up to 4 years ago now, but an investigation is still underway. My family home had to be put up for sale after 27 years of living there, due to a bad mortgage company. We completely renovated our home so that the new owners could call it a home straight away. We gave a set of keys to Allen and Harris so that they could undertake viewings as we're a busy working family. A buyer came up which was great news, but one day my mum had a break from work so of course went home. Only to be greeted with the buyer stood in our back garden doing gardening work and our doors unlocked. The buyer had the audacity to ask my mother what she was doing there. He had been going into our home wearing muddy shoes on the brand new carpet which we had to have professionally cleaned. Nail varnish had been tipped on the carpet which the buyer blamed on us as a way for us to replace it, the thing is, we didn't have nail varnish in the house. He then returned 3 days before completion and condemned OUR boiler when we were working, as a way to lower the price of our home. Allen and Harris were aware of all of this going on. Then they said that we didn't have a fitted kitchen, which was brand new, less than a month old on completion. With a working gas hob and electric oven, which we had been using everyday of course, but the buyer said it wasn't working. Our sales completion hasn't even been signed by us, only the buyer. This is the Penarth Branch.

Shocking experience

Shocking experience. My son rented a place through Allen and Harris Chippenham after viewing the marketing video. He moved in on Saturday & Sunday the 31st of January and we were beyond shocked. The video failed to show the condition of some of the walls, the mould in the kitchen cupboard, the dirt on the window ledge. There are two light fixtures in the sitting room and one is not working. We visited many properties and as the COVID situation got worse, we became more cautious. The video looked good and the Allen and Harris looked professional. We paid £9300 in advance and we are truly regretting that. Do not trust a video, if concerned about COVID wait till the situation improves. He is now stuck with this for 1 year.

We have had the misfortune to do business with Allen and Harris lettings in Bath for our Student-age son. They issue contracts, clearly stating they recommend you take legal advice prior to signing, allow just 3 or 4 working days to seek this legal advice. The reminders and pressure to sign start within hours of receipt of contract. Their contracts are very difficult to understand and read. In my opinion they favour the landlady / landlord, with much less protection for the tenant. It is a very shambolic way of working, and not at all what one would expect from a well-established name such as Allen and Harris. Needless to say, we were not able to proceed with the rental as we could not get proper legal advice in the meagre time A&H had allowed. Their untimeliness is absolutely shameful. Tenants are definitely NOT treated as customers, even though they are actually the ones paying the money. I would never do business with this company again. The question to Allen and Harris would be "Would you like your children to be treated this way?".

Listen to this one, This is a good onei goes into Allan and Harris in Bishopbrigs for a mortgage The chap has an asian back ground and I have record of 3 year taxes paid for my wages get paid by bacs all the time.the last few months because of corona virus the office was shut and was paid a week here and there lateI get told he can not do it because I am employed by family and then without us complaining he tell us I am not raciest. "but who told you you were"How can an asian be raciest with another asian. is it possible?My credit score is 987 out of 999.The thing about it i put the fone down on him before coming down, by taking to him I knew he is full of sh....t.But because he phoned back several time I ended up wasting my time going there. what a load of rubbishI phoned my bank on the same day and 2 days later i got an approval as I have been banking with them for 8 years.What a waist of time.I think if you are not Scottish through and through do not go there unless you want to be humiliated.Come on Allan & Harris pull yourselves together.My opinion "maybe he is not trusted by the banking world and we asians are paying the price"..Get it sorted guys no need for this

Cheated out of house offer

I enquired about a house sale and requested home report and viewing, the manager of irvine branch agreed to arrange this, 2 days later they phoned and said the house was under offer, and the owner accepted a quick sale offer, i feel cheated out of a viewing and potentially buying this house. I had no house to sell having sold ny home in november 2019, i was cash buyer ready to buy this property. The manageress not only decided who could buy this house but cheated sellers out of making more money. She stated she done nothing wrong, i disagree, she would not give me head office number but stated her area manager a Mr Farmer would call me, im still waiting. This has put me off having anything to do with this estate agent, and i will avoid any house sale they are involved in.I feel something underhand has went on with this house sale.

As a landlord who was with them for a very short time, I made two complaints concerning 1) Repairs and maintenance and 2) Rent payments, both against the company they use to contract out these services (Sequence). After exhausting their internal complaints procedures I took them to the Property Ombudsman who held up my two complaints against Sequence. Don’t use them.

Hold deposit without transfer to deposit protection service for long as possible

It is the first time I used the tenant finding service from Stoke Gifford letting office in Bristol. The tenants viewings were arranged efficiently. In the process, the letting agent uses numerous companies’ names for operations, which are very confusing and difficult to understand why, it sounds very unusual. Currently the company still holds the tenant’s deposit for over two weeks without transferring it to the deposit protection service as the manager initially promised. When asked about the deposit, the manager said he will chase with their accounting department about the issue. After a week has passed and I received the warning from DPS they have not done the transfer. I get no reply with phone calls and emails. It is a bit worrying. The issue looks like not only with Stoke Gifford letting office in Bristol, but also with the departments of the company.

I purchased a house with Allen and Harris. Michelle dealt with it all. She was very professional, a lovely lady. Polite and nothing was too much trouble. Sometimes I spoke to other staff in the office. They were all very pleasant to talk to, always answered anything. I would completely recommend going to Allen and Harris for all your needs to buy or sell a house. The rental side is also great to deal with.

BEWARE!!! Any end of tenancy cleaners; if you're approached by Ben Shaw from Allen & Harris Didcot, I advise you do NOT undertake any work given by him. You will NOT be paid; after months of lies and excuses, I have still not been paid by him, despite having emails from landlords and others within the company that all payment has been approved. He is lying, and thieving, and should be avoided at all costs. Not sure if anyone else has had this issue but please please please be aware!!!!

The worst Estate agent ever- AVOID

The worst Estate agent ever- this company is a joke. I wish there was an option to give zero or minus stars to this company.I still regret and curse myself for chosing a house from Allen & Harris (Stoke Gifford) over another estate agent. The rent was higher but it was a walking distance to work I decided to take it and it was my biggest mistake,We saw the house while tenants were still living in it. I asked the agent if the house will be properly cleaned and redecorated (Painted over previous tennants decoration) The agent said house will be cleaned after current tenants move out and will be ready completley when we move in but nothing such happened. Allen & Harris did not even bother to visit the property after tenant left forget about cleaning,When we moved in the house was stinking. The clock room flush was broken and previous tenant has left it as it is after dumping in it. So the house was full of human waste smell when we entered in it. We had to wait couple of hours outside (And pay extra to movers and packers for waiting). As we moved in we realised the house was left without cleaning a bit. The carpet was filthy and full of small insects, the kitchen was stinky and full of sauce splashes everywhere, the walls were dirty and full of holes, marks and mold throughout the house. The garden was not trimmed since months (Or may be years it looked like) and full of animal waste. Not only cleaning but Allen & Harris did not bother to check if there was any maintanance issue before giving keys to us. The whole house has pluming issue which means water doesnt go down in any sink or bathroom. The boiler doesnt boil water so we have been taking cild shower - including our 16 months old daughter. The washing machine they provided is so old and out of service. Our daughter get skin allergey when she wore a dress after being washed in that machine.For first few days we had to stay at friend's house and thought Agent will sort everything out but its been now nearly a month but nothing has happned. We cant assemble furniture untill Agent gets the house cleaned so we been sleeping on the floor since we moved in. Our daughter has been down with fever and skin allergy ever since we moved in and she is still ill. I got asthama due to mold and I had to clean it myself as Allen & Harris apparently thinks House does not need a cleaning between tenancies and as long as it has walls and ceiling it is upto stanard.I have contacted my local citizen advise bureu and will take a legal action but would advise everyone to avoid this agency at any cost. They neither have moral nor care for their customers.

Allen and Harris Swindon:- Buyers Avoid

Allen and Harris Swindon:- I am still in shock over the treatment I have received as a buyer. Firstly when I put in a offer I was told it was a repossession property held by a firm and my offer could take 6/8 weeks to approve no problem, it took two weeks. This was November. January comes no movement blamed on this process, February comes the story changes that the owner hasn’t evicted the tenant yet. (What owner I thought) but told the repossession story they had never said I have emails to prove otherwise comes to April has just started tenant still not evicted and I get word from my solicitor it has a doubling ground rent, turns out Allen and Harris have tried to sell this property multiple times and it has always fallen through and you would have thought knowing the information they did they would have mentioned something in the 6 months I’ve been waiting for the sale to go through. Would never ever use again, they tell so many different stories and are willing to sell you a unsellable property. When asked about why all the stories and all the time I was told go ask my solicitor. Not really caring about the customer or moral.

Don't trust Allen & Harris!

Awful service by Allen & Harris. Booked in 2 viewings back to back with them... got there and no one was around. When I called, they told me that the second property had gone already and that someone should have rang me and cancelled the whole appointment (I guess they'd just decided not to do it?!). No one had and they had no answer for why that was the case. The woman on the phone was nice and offered to drop everything and come out to me in around 15 mins but I had other viewings booked in and had to move on.They also said they'd keep in touch with me about new properties coming on the market... I was keeping an eye out and saw various new ones that were suitable and never heard a peep from them.

Very Bad Experience

On Friday 29 April we went to Allen & Harris (A&H) to arrange the sale of our house and paid the required marketing fees. Over the weekend we changed our mind and went straight back to the branch at 10am on Monday 2 May (bank holiday) to cancel. We were told that “as nothing had happened yet (i.e. the photographer/surveyor were not arranged), we would be entitled to a full refund”. We spent the next 8-9 weeks trying to get our money back but were continually fobbed off with excuses and lies...the system is down…it should be paid soon…it should be in your account in a few days…it will take 3-5 working days…, none of which happened. Despite 12-15 emails some of which were not replied to, several phone calls and visits to the branch, the delay in paying this refund just got longer and longer. We asked for the contact details of a senior person with whom we could register a complaint but this was never provided. On Friday 17 June we contacted Resolver, an online consumer complaints company and raised our complaint through them. They emailed our complaint to A&H customer services department in Leighton Buzzard. (At no time did the branch inform us that such a place existed.) A member of staff from this department then started to communicate with us trying to resolve this issue by expediting the payment of our refund. This involved yet more emails and phone calls. However, even then on one occasion they did not call us back when promised. Eventually, on 28 June (58 days after we cancelled) we at last received our refund in our account. This whole fiasco proved to be very frustrating and stressful and if this is an example of A&H’s customer service, we are very glad that we changed our mind when we did and did not proceed with our sale. I will be relating this whole saga to as many people as possible to highlight the way we were treated and the ridiculous delay to payment of a refund which should have been accomplished in days as originally promised, not months. We would definitely NOT recommend this company to anyone.
