We’ve had a fantastic experience with Lily and the whole team at William H Brown in Castleford. Lily has been brilliant from start to finish, always proactive, clear with communication, and genuinely supportive throughout the entire process. She’s kept everything moving smoothly and has gone above and beyond to make sure we were always updated and reassured. The wider WHB Castleford team have also been excellent. Everyone we’ve dealt with has been professional, friendly, and really on the ball. It’s clear they work well together and care about delivering a great service. We really appreciate all the hard work they’ve put in. Highly recommended, thank you to Lily and the whole team.

As a first time buyer with a less than straightforward mortgage application, Dan Irvine was absolutely wonderful. I spoke to several mortgage brokers and felt extremely uneasy about beginning the process until I met with Dan. He has helped me throughout the whole process (including dealing with offer negotiations with the sellers EA), talked me through how it all works and has gone above and beyond for me to be able to get my mortgage approved. If you’re nervy about using a mortgage broker and not sure who to trust, I can vouch that Dan is a brilliant choice and will help u in any way he can with integrity. I really wasn’t sure if I would end up with a mortgage when I was considering buying but I’m glad to see I’m out on the other side with an offer, and that is all thanks to Dan!

There is one in Wakefield which I have recently experienced and quite frankly it’s the worst I’ve experienced. They are fine with you calling them but when you email them, they don’t respond and this makes a mockery of the customer which is extremely disappointing. Sometimes I just want to call them and tell it how it is or walk in the branch physically, only problem it’s busy times during the week and weekends….need to step up and improve honestly…..the complaints protocol is woeful and abysmal to say the least. Put this through twice and no joy unfortunately. Terrible….

Very professional and personable.Connor was able to answer all of our questions and his valuation was identical to the other agents. The only reason for not obtaining the business was not his fault. It was simply that another agent was more established in this area.

We used William H brown as a mortgage advisor only for the house we just completed on as we had previously used them it was now free for life. Dan Irvine, our mortgage advisor was great 5/5 responds to emails super quick, usually in minutes. Wish our solicitors did the same. He stuck with us as we had 2 houses fall through and finally succeeded on the third. Application process was very smooth even with the added complexity of being self employed with only one year of books. Look forward to renewal in 2 years

Anne Luby has been amazing from the very beginning. She took the time to arrange regular Teams meetings, which made the whole experience feel much more personal. As a first time buyer, I had absolutely no idea where to start and was a complete novice who felt out of her depth, but Anne guided me through every step of the process.

WHB Castleford fell well below my expectations even though they did sell my house.. There Valuaer came out and gave us a value for the property telling us they had 6 buyers waiting for property like mine that were ready to go and said If I paid for the photos I could have the prints in case I needed to go to another estate agent. The cost would be £2900 for selling. I signed up and waited. They sent viewers who didnt have their house on the market, Viewers who wanted three bed homes and when I asked where the viewers were that the salesman had told us about the abruot response from the woman in branch was well we cant force people to come can we. I then asked for the prints of the pictures which i paid for. The response was Thats nothing to do with us, Just print them off the webs site. Really obnoxious. We did sell thankfully but due to a legal complication, it took longer than expected which wasnt WHB Fault. I did on numerous occasions over a 4 month period ring the branch to speak to the person selling our house only to be told *Sorry she's out at lunch *. Strange as this was mainly at half three in the afternoon. I left numerous messages for her to ring me back and very rarely did that happen. In fact once that Sold sign went up they were not interested. Going into branch the feeling was oh what do you want rather than hello how can we help you... I felt that from day 1 this was just a total rip off. No customer care, staff who were either never at work or didnt want to speak to customers and our buyers were of the same opinion. Frankly if your selling your house I think there are much better customer focussed estate agents in Castleford and the service I got was definitely not worth the amount of money I paid....

Please save yourself the heartache and…

Please save yourself the heartache and the frustration and do not use W H Brown Wakefield. In 20 weeks we have had two people view the property, we have dropped the price by £50k and yesterday attempted to call the branch 20 times following 3 email's regarding the termination of our contract with them. This follows appalling communication throughout. We issued formal notification 13 days and have not even had any acknowledgement. When asked what they could do to try and get more interest in the property they decided the best course of action for a bungalow that had been owned by a 96 year old was a TikTok video... not really the demographic that would be interested. We had two properties to sell following bereavements. The other property is sold and completed a week ago and went on the market two weeks after this one with a different estate agent. Today they finally sent a letter and said if we want to let it or put it back on the market to let them know as they would be happy to relist. I on the other hand would rather scream into the abyss.

PLEASE STEER WELL CLEAR!!

Poor communication, false promises from sales, lettings and mortgage services. Started off great but once they've had your money they don't care about resolving any issues. Don't bother with the lifetime membership as you'll have to do all the work yourself. Don't bother with management services for letting a property either, they won't tell you about any problems and they'll let your tenants damage your property and steal from you without any reconciliation measures or compensation. I sold my flat over a year ago and I'm still battling with them and the Zero Deposit scheme to compensate me for my property being stolen and damage that I paid to fix for the new owner out of my own pocket. PLEASE STEER CLEAR, SAVE YOURSELF A HEADACHE!!

As a tenant this is the worst rental agency I've ever dealt with - expected more from such a big name

As a tenant this is the worst rental agent I've ever dealt with. 1) Difficult to get in touch with - they hardly ever answer the phone. 2) The property was dirty when we moved in, no inventory provided. 3) The property was managed by Sequence Ltd who have provided a very disappointing service - early on we were told (via a phone call and after several weeks of us asking) to arrange for repair of a maintenance issue ourselves and that this could be deducted off our rent afterwards, and that the landlord had instructed this. We never received the refund, they said because they didn't have records of that instruction. Several staff members had started then left during our tenancy which didn't help (we were there for 6 months). 4) We are now having to contact Tenancy Deposit Scheme to get our deposit back relating to a different issue, mostly due to our inadequate landlord who it seems is trying to claim a random amount of money anywhere he might get away with it (we left the property in a cleaner state than when we arrived to try to avoid any possible excuses for deduction from deposit). Sequence Ltd doesn't appear to know about or be bothered about the law and tenant's rights.

Ollie Aston flat inspection

This Morning I had Ollie Aston attend my flat for an annual inspection. He was on time as agreed. He took photos for Landlord and was a very pleasant with his customer communication during the visit. I raised a few questions which I hope to hear back. I wish him the success in his employ and rate 5 star service. Overall have dealt with WHB for 6 years always been of a high standard.

We did not have the best experience using this agent. They were great at selling themselves to us by comparing their sales against other agents with seemed great. Once signed up with them their communication with us fell off of a cliff. We had a dip in viewing so they asked us to do an open house. Some text was added to the read more element in Rightmove and our listing on their website, but no other advertisement was placed. So unless you were one of the handful of people reading the text on rightmove or scouring through their website you’d never know. Save to say no one turned up. When asked about it they admitted they’d failed to post it on their socials. They asked us to put our asking price down to attract more interest which we did but made it clear that that was our lowest. Our eventual buyers offered below our asking and we continually rejected. William H Brown called us up clearly annoyed that we weren’t accepting and we reminded them that we had dropped to our lowest on their advice and they had no idea. It hadn’t been recorded or shared anywhere, we were just another house to them. We were getting to the end of our contract with them at this point and we were looking forward to leaving. I sent an email asking what the next steps were for discontinuing the contract. Within 15 minutes of sending that email we had a phone call to say our buyers had offered asking price after they’d been given a nudge by William H Brown. In short we were just another house on their books and at no point did I get the impression they were doing anything to sell our house or get us the most for it, short of advertising online. There are so many local independent agents out there who will give your property the focus it deserves in comparison to a large company like this. Additionally our buyers used William H Browns suggested solicitors and had a terrible experience so maybe avoid them too if you do end up with William H Brown.

I would not trust these people

I would not trust these people, I emailed them to arrange a viewing on a tenanted property, no contact, after a couple of days I called them to arrange a viewing for same property, straight away the sales person tried steering me to another property instead, but I held firm, they said they would get back to me with an appointment, they never did, it’s now sold. They have preferred investors waiting in the background, other sectors would not get away with it.

6 months after signing with an on-line agent with very few viewings and no luck we signed with William H Brown who marketed the property expertly and got us a buyer within a month. Particular mentions for Connor and Lilly whose professionalism and help in selling our home was second to none. I would recommend them to anyone thinking about selling.

All I can say is they are shocking

All I can say is they are shocking. They have a brilliant sales pitch to get you hook on using them to sell your property then once you agree the service they provide goes downhill from there. 99% of the viewings are time wasters as they are not vetted before viewing that they are even interested or proceedable to purchase. They promise open house viewing days but have never once done anything like that. Communication is poor and I'm always chasing them for everything. You get sent offers you accept them then they say the buyer has lowered their offer will you accept it.

Impeccable Service!

We recently had the pleasure of using William H Brown also known as Sequence as our estate agent during our house purchase, and I cannot speak highly enough of their outstanding service. From the very beginning, Libby our Mortgage Advisor was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and attentive to our needs.

Currently in the process of buying a property advertised by William H Brown. Lily has been so helpful in advising me throughout the whole process and chasing both my own and the sellers solicitor to get things processed. She has enabled me to feel included throughout the whole process and has also helped me to remain calm when i’m feeling stressed! Thanks William H Brown and a big thank you to Lily!

Avoid WH Brown!

Sold my house through W H Brown and they were the worst estate agent I have ever used. Communication was nil, left messages and they didn’t get back at all. Actually went 5 MONTHS with no contact! Sold my house to first viewer for full asking price so they had very little to do.When I complained to head office, they stated the branch had done nothing wrong! Obviously have low standards. Definitely an estate agent to avoid. No wonder they have a poor reputation

Could not have had better service

Went for a viewing on a bungalow back in the Summer and met a lovely lady called Marina from the Kingsley branch. We didn't like the bungalow but, we did like Marina and we put our house sale in her capable hands. She sold our house within a day I think and everything went really well until 6 weeks later, our buyer lost their buyer. However, about 4 weeks later, our buyer found a new buyer and we all set of again. However, due to solicitors not talking to each other and them being particularly hard to get hold off the last month or so of proceedings was very stressful and just made hard by the solicitors. However, Marina and everyone at William Browns worked so, so, so hard getting solicitors to talk and get things done and eventually, we exchanged and completed last week! The team at Kingsley worked so hard for us and went above and beyond our expectations - Marina was our main contact and I can not speak highly enough of her and would love to thank her for her straight forward talking, her honesty and her absolute dedication when it was actually quite hard work!! Thank you Marina and team ☺️ To have full transparency, the reason I could not give 5 stars was due to the solicitors we used which were recommended by William Browns - they were shocking but that does not detract for the amazing service we received

Useless, uncommunicative liars who are after your money.

There is a saying that "Buyers are Liars". Well trust me, our Estate Agents handling the sale of our property were without doubt the worst we have ever had in selling any of our previous properties proving that it isn't the buyers that are the liars but the Estate Agents themselves. I won't name individuals but as a company, William H. Brown of Ely were the worst for Communicating to us in the selling of our property. From the first contact where the then manageress came and visited us to suggest a selling price to the end result of us vacating the property was nothing short of disgusting. Considering they were going to be getting paid a couple of grand for selling our property for us, they did nothing. We did get the odd email and phone call trying to dazzle us with percentages and figures why our property wasn't selling but as I said to the individual calling me, stop making pathetic excuses and sell our property. When we first put our property up for sale at a price suggested by the management, one of the staff rang me and suggested that I should drop my price to get more interest! This was a week after we had it up for sale. I very politely told him no. They changed staff like I changed my grundies, every time we went in to the office someone else had left, hopefully to richer pastures. God help any new staff. All they will learn working in that office will be to lie, ignore your customers and spout BS because that's what we had from them, totally and utterly useless staff acting on our behalf.. The Manager who is in situ now was supposed to working on our behalf but was more focused on our buyers than us and even had the nerve to suggest that we moved into rented accommodation, with a wife, dog, cat and me, put all our possessions in to storage just so that our buyers could move in quickly. Quite disgusting behaviour from the "Manager". He even had the gall to tell us that our buyers wanted to move in on the following Monday and that they had their removals team delivering their possessions on the Tuesday. More lies. What a Pratt! We have now been moved out over a week and we have since found out that the buyers still haven't moved in, so what was all that pushing and prompting about putting us under enormous stress? It all points to him wanting the deal sealed so he could get his monthly bonus. Considering what our Solicitors, Hunt & Coombs did for us, the sheer amount of hard, intense work our Conveyancing Team did and the amount of fees they charged us was paltry compared to what we were charged. So to wrap up my review of William H. Brown, Estate Agents, Ely. We were very sorry we ever got involved with them. I would suggest using caution if you are unlucky enough to use them to sell your property because they don't care about you as a customer, just see you as a cash-cow. They will lie to you, ignore your calls and generally mess you about. I would suggest you use any of the other Estate Agents in Ely because to be honest, none of them could ever be as bad as William H. Brown.
