We had a fantastic experience selling our home with Laura and the team at Hunters in Tenterden. From start to finish, everything was handled professionally and efficiently. The whole process was incredibly smooth, and we were especially impressed with how quickly the property sold. Laura kept us well informed at every stage and made what can often be a stressful process feel straightforward and manageable. The team were always friendly, responsive, and clearly very knowledgeable about the local market. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to buy or sell in the area. Thank you again.

Thank you Matthew for your review and kind words. It was a pleasure to be able to assist with the sale, getting from offer to completion in a very short space of time thanks to your ongoing co-operation which was much appreciated. Wishing you all the best, Laura and the team at Hunters.

This company doesn't seem to care…

This company doesn't seem to care either about their prospective customers or their existing landlords. I have an outstanding issue with their poor tenant management at a property that they have let for a number of years and their failure to recover documented damage after the tenant vacated the property. Nobody is answering my emails. The owner has notified his landlords that yet another staff member has left the company, they are notorious for being unable to retain staff. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Gutted

I was really impressed with the valuer's sales pitch and genuinely believed they would be the best firm to sell my home. The fact they had a relationship with Ryan property law also played a part, although that turned out to be a disaster, but that's a review for another day. Experience of sales team - Georgia is so lovely and was a pleasure to work with. However, even after a week, the sole promotion strategy was pushing me to lower the price, which I eventually caved into and feel like I would have got more money had I gone with an approach suggested by a different agent. I had over 30 viewings, which was exhausting preparing the house for. Most of these were time wasting - one definitely a pseudonym (why don't they ask for ID checks?) and at least 10 weren't actually people who were in a position to buy (not got house on market or it would turn out they'd offered elsewhere). The buyers buyer (also buying through Hunters), was not vetted correctly or there was a big cover up. If there was a cover up, Hunters couldn't tell me, because they had such poor record keeping. I was sent evidence of some record keeping with regards to something else (hello GDPR breach!) and it was full of typos and omissions. Sales progression experience was horrific. Thankfully they eventually replaced the person, as I could go on and on with my list of what she did that was totally unprofessional, but worst bit is she could have put my children at risk if it had been a DV situation, as she told everyone in the chain my new address and all the addresses of everyone in the chain, repeatedly. I repeatedly complained about her and they left it far too late to do anything. Absolutely appalling and this estate agent caused so much additional stress to what was already a horrific chain. I would not recommend to anyone.

Dreadful Experience

We booked valuation. Confirmed twice no show. She eventually came late at night & we fell for the speel. Big mistake just full of empty promises. No response to phone calls or emails. 17 days before first viewing. Buyers were not vetted as we were told. Some hadn't even got their house on the market. It was a truly horrible experience. Finally got a offer £30,000 below asking price! THEN I had an long email telling me we should take it ! They are beyond rubbish. They take on too many clients & cannot give you the time. They don't even ask if appointment is convenient to you. One word ....Jokers Two words....Avoid Avoid If I could give zero stars I would

We have used Hunters three times now and wouldn’t go anywhere else. The team are always enthusiastic, professional, and really friendly and approachable, which makes the whole process much easier. A special mention to Laura for her efficiency and dedication, she kept everything on track and was great to deal with throughout. Highly recommend.

We have been using estate agents throughout our sixty years of marriage and can truly say that this latest move, selling through Hunters, Tenterden, has been the best experience in all that time. The very professional team of Laura, the branch manager, and her colleagues Claire and Hannah, worked so hard on our behalf, whilst being so pleasant to work with. People often make the mistake of thinking that getting a buyer for the sellers is the main part of the job but we firmly believe that the main value comes from them seeing the whole process through, from the offer to completion. Buyers very often find the property initially on the internet but need far more help in getting to completion. Agents often have progressors and Laura and her team work with the excellent Theresa. Together, they check that all parties in the chain are being open about their circumstances and they ensure that the very often tedious process keeps moving. Without Hunters, our sale this time could have gone horribly wrong. They made sure it didn’t. We are so grateful to them.

I had an exceptional experience working…

I had an exceptional experience working with Julie Decraene throughout my house purchase. From start to finish before passing onto the next agent for the further process of buying my house, her service was nothing short of outstanding. She made what can often be a stressful and complicated process feel smooth, straightforward, and incredibly efficient. Julie was always professional, approachable, and highly responsive. Any questions or concerns I had were addressed promptly and clearly, which gave me a great deal of confidence and peace of mind. Her knowledge and expertise were evident at every stage, and she guided me through the process with ease, ensuring everything moved forward quickly without any unnecessary delays. What truly stood out was how seamless she made the entire experience. The process of buying a house can be overwhelming, but Julie handled everything with such organisation and attention to detail that it felt effortless on my part. Her dedication and commitment to providing excellent service really shone through. I am genuinely grateful for her support and would highly recommend Julie Decraene to anyone looking for a reliable, efficient, and professional service. She has made a significant milestone in my life an incredibly positive and stress-free experience.

We had an excellent experience with Hunters from start to finish. Richard, Brenda and Adam were fantastic throughout the entire process - always responsive, easy to contact, and happy to help with any questions we had. Everything ran smoothly with no issues at all, and their professionalism and communication made a potentially stressful process much easier. We would highly recommend Hunters to anyone looking to buy or sell a property.

One of my worst experience buying a house from hunters

One of my worst experience buying a house from hunters auction. House was listed on website and tenanted for a fixed amount of rent which I was told by the auction agent called Robert. Also house was in bad state but got told tenants don’t care so why do you. Only to find out later on that tenants have never paid anywhere near that amount and it’s so much lower. So was lied to first of all and then later to meet the tenants and for them to tell us all the work they was promised and they wanted the house fixing top to bottom. What an absolute joke and waste of time and money. Keep your money and go elsewhere they will tell you anything just to sell a house that is overpriced

I highly recommend Hunters Tenterden for selling your home. They sold ours in three months in a tough market and I believe it was because of their unique sales approach that it sold so quickly. I find it strange calling it unique, because to me it seems logical, but it was starkly different to the other three agencies we interviewed. There are several reasons why we chose to use Hunters, the first was how prepared Laura was when she did our evaluation. She was well informed and gave us a realistic selling price that we went on to sell our house for. She listened to us and took the time to answer all of our questions. Their approach to viewings was another reason we chose to use them. In the time leading up to the first viewings, Hannah, the agent who was to show our house, came and had a walk through making notes on important details that made our house stand as well as mundane details like when our new boiler was put in, so that she was prepared to answer buyers' questions. Another reason is that they target market rather than wait for buyers to contact them. They call those on their books who have expressed interest in similar properties, and they call potential buyers registered with their other offices. Our buyers hadn't even seen our listing because they were looking in a totally different area and were registered with a different Hunters office. It was Laura who called them and told them about our house and our village. I'm convinced, our buyer would never have seen our house had she not done this. Other reasons we had were their intimate knowledge of this part of Kent, their high quality listing photos, the customer service from the selling team leading up to the offer being made, and the always available team who handled the sale once we accepted the offer. Selling a home is a painful process but Laura and her team made it as pain free as possible.

Having lived a long way from my late mother’s property, it was incredibly important to have estate agents I could trust, and they truly went above and beyond throughout the entire process. They took care of everything, kept me updated regularly, and made what could have been a very stressful experience so much easier. Professional, supportive, and efficient from start to finish. I’m extremely grateful for all of their help and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for excellent service.

Excellant service

Moving can be hectic, but Dulcie made it so simple with her support, prompt communication, and quick responses from the first viewing in Cullompton right through to the day I collected the keys. She was professional, reassuring, and always ready to help. The team I met on key‑collection day was amazing, friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. Overall, a fantastic experience. Highly recommended.

Rude, poor service - a must avoid for renters

Rude, get passed around from pillar to post while they try to ignore your requests or questions. Tried for years to get them to fix things but just continually fell on deaf ears. Now they're trying to claim issues are my fault which are down to shoddy contractors (which they use consistently, including at one point despite having had yearly gas checks, I get told that the previous 6 years hasn't been done properly and the build up that caused a leak was because of this. Everything is everyone's issue but theirs. Renters, avoid at all costs!

We felt comfortable dealing with Laura and her team right from the very first meeting. We chose Hunters and have not had any reason to question our choice, as they have exceeded our expectations in all areas. We were not local and relied on them to handle all details of viewings etc. Once we had a prospective buyer then they kept us informed of all relevant details relating to the progress of the sale. Nothing was too much trouble and we were pleased that the sale progressed smoothly through exchange of contracts and eventual completion. Thank you all at Hunters.

We have just bought our first property via Hunters and the service was amazing from start to finish! Laura, Maggie & Hannah were all very friendly and helpful! Also Theresa was amazing at keeping us updated throughout the entire process! We viewed another property via a different agent and it felt pushy, we didn’t experience this with Hunters at all! Highly recommended and I’m sure we’ll be back in the future! Thank you all😊

Awful customer service

I remain deeply disappointed in the way my most recent complaint has been handled at their Newcastle branch. The way the branch manager speaks to tenants is appalling! If you have a complaint then don’t expect any sympathy or accountability. We have rented this property for 11 years and in that time, we have been superb tenants but sadly that doesn’t mean anything to them. I anticipate a reply to this which will more than likely attempt to completely contradict what I’ve written here but just know that our experience has not been a positive one!

Nightmare move

I used Hunters to sell my home after living there for approximately 35 years. I want to acknowledge that the sale itself was complicated and involved significant delays, including probate and Land Registry issues. Hunters did work to keep the sale progressing, and I recognise the time and effort involved in that process. However, my experience on completion day was extremely distressing. I was still in the process of removing my belongings when the buyers and members of their family arrived at the property. My family and I were placed under considerable pressure to remove a lifetime of possessions as quickly as possible. My belongings were outside and in the street, and I felt deeply embarrassed, overwhelmed and humiliated by the circumstances. I had expected the handover of my home to be handled in a calm and organised way. Instead, what should have been an important and emotional moment after 35 years in my home became one of the most distressing experiences I have ever had. I raised a formal complaint with Hunters. The agency investigated the matter and explained that they had followed their usual procedures and were not aware that the buyers intended to attend the property at that time. I appreciate that Hunters were not present at the property and therefore could not comment directly on everything that happened there. I also appreciate that the completion process itself is controlled by solicitors and that many aspects of the timing are outside an estate agent's control. However, I remain deeply upset by the way the handover unfolded and by the experience I had on the day I left my home. I believe clearer communication and better coordination of the physical move may have prevented the situation from becoming so distressing. Having considered my experience and the response to my formal complaint, I would not recommend Hunters based on my experience of the completion and handover of my property. This review reflects my personal experience and the impact the events of completion day had on me.

5 years renting with no issues at all

I rented an apartment through Hunters (Otley & Ilkley) for five years and honestly had a great experience the whole time. They were always quick to reply, super easy to deal with, and sorted any issues straight away - no chasing needed. Communication with the landlord was also really smooth thanks to them. Big thanks to Donna, Libby, and Leister for being so helpful and friendly over the years. Would definitely recommend Hunters if you're looking for a letting agent you can rely on.

Not transparent, poor communication, poor customer service

1. Not transparent, even though they have a duty to disclose issues with the property once asked. When I asked why is a 2-bed in the city centre is only £995 (when I already knew the answer being ongoing construction site), they were purposely very vague. He emailed, "Regarding the prices, there are a number of factors affecting a valuation of a property which include size, conditions, time of year, building etc." 2. Get clients names mixed up and books you in for the wrong viewings. Eg. I asked to see a £995 2 bed property but they linked me to a £1300 property. I had to correct them. They also kept emailing me and calling me Chris when I said several times I am not Chris. Worrying early signs of poor communication, little to no client care. 3. Viewings are incomplete - why schedule a viewing of the property, only for me to turn up and that is when you say there is a communal laundry room but I am not allowed to view it. After the viewing I emailed back and this was their response: "The communal laundry rooms are on the stairs, one per floor. At the moment we don’t have capacity for second viewings unfortunately. I made it clear from the beginning of my enquiry that I wanted to find a quiet home to rent and no drama. Clearly, the initial contact and viewing experience already hints there will be drama, probably worse if I did sign a contract with Hunters.

My experience selling a property in the…

My experience selling a property in the UK with this agent was extremely frustrating. For over four months, they delayed the transaction. Despite my constant follow-ups, they kept giving me excuse after excuse, like mortgage problems or minor issues, saying it would happen next week. Eventually, I told them I would pull out and sell to another buyer, but Matthew insisted I still had to pay. I also want to warn people about this company, be very cautious, because in the contract, they include terms that are unfavorable to the client. Once you sign, they do very little to follow up, and you can’t even be sure if the buyer will complete the deal. Their main priority is just getting you to sign, and regardless of whether the sale happens, they still take your money. And when I tried to back out, Matthew actually threatened me, saying that if I didn’t pay, they would escalate it to other departments. I feel this is a form of intimidation.”
